Dr. Bri, I can't thank you enough. I ended up doing a modification of the perineal body massage technique as I'm an obese male and I just can't really reach that far. I used a massage gun at medium setting with the round foam ball attachment and just pressed the area while breathing as you describe and relaxing. 30 seconds of that actually made all my pelvic pain disappear completely. It stayed away for an hour or so and I could hardly believe it so I tried it again and the technique worked. I've been doing this for about 2 weeks now and the time between needing to buzz the perineal body has increased so that I'm able to go longer without pain. I usually notice the pain when standing up from sitting and it feels like my insides are falling through me. My specific problem originally was with tailbone pain after sitting too long and my chiropractor showed that my sacrum had actually rotated and my tailbone was pointing at an angle instead of straight down. After many sessions with him, it's gotten better but I started having this weird pain where after I sat down for an hour or two, I would stand up and have this strange painful feeling that felt like my insides were falling out through between my legs. That's the best way I could describe it. I'd never felt that kind of pain before. Buzzing the perineal body with the massage gun made my pain go away. This has been a tremendous help to me as nothing was getting rid of this pelvic pain I experienced, not even pain pills. I also never would have guessed it was the pelvic floor causing my problem. My question is are there any exercises I should be doing to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles or are there things I should NOT be doing? Thank you for your help Dr. Bri, and even if you can't answer my questions, you've been a tremendous change for good in my life as this pain was making life unbearable.

I ran across your vids. I’ve been suffering from pelvic floor issues for the last two years and yes I feel it became related to work (stress and a desk job are a bad combination). I’ve had kidney stones in the past and I thought it was another (amazing how the pain can be similar for a stuck stone), but my urologist determined it was not another episode. He didn’t know what was causing it as this blew my mind I thought. Thought then possibly it might be a prostate issue as I’m 55 yrs old. Turned out is was not that either (full exams annually and negative PSA). The pain was unreal at times. After months of my own research I found a pelvic floor therapist and after 6 weeks of PT with it has helped. I like your stretching exercises here and will use them along with what I was taught by my therapist. Exercise (simple long walks of an hour) with pelvic floor stretching afterwards I find is one of the best ways I’ve found to help relieve this. Sex can still be uncomfortable, primarily following the 24 hours afterwards, but working through that. .

Hey Dr. Bri. I want to share some success I have had treating my PFD. Over a year ago, I got a UTI from a resort hot tub. A week after finishing the antibiotic, the symptoms returned. I ended up in ER 8 times in as many months with all the doctors testing me for UTI and giving me antibiotics even if I didn't have bacteria. Soon, I started having a lot of confusing activity in my pelvis. A urogynecologist did a cystoscopy and urodynamics. He saw an irritated bladder. He saw that my bladder was a bit hypotonic. Then he scheduled me for a uterine biopsy. All while refusing me even Pyridium I was in so much pain. It would have taken three months to get all the testing during Quarantine. So, I started doctor shopping. I don't need referrals. I ended up being told I had a prolapse, so I had to get a pessary. I was sent to a gastro who found my colon quite healthy for 52. In all, I went to three urogynecologists, five urologists, and a gastro. No answers. My last urologist gave me Uribel, Oxytrol and Myrbetriq. At the same time. That night I was rushed to ER because my bladder stopped working completely. I had to be cathed. Then they taught me to self-cath. This was only getting worse. So I asked him to do an actual pelvic exam and he seemed surprised. So he did it and felt my pelvic floor spasms. Not a single other doctor examined me that way before. He sent me straight to a pelvic floor therapist. As I peeled away each layer, I found that I had a slightly hypotonic bladder, tight pelvic floor muscles, significant constipation and motility issues, a mild prolapse, and my bladder neck was closing like a man with PBH. The treatment that has worked is three months on Baclofen to relax the muscles, rectal suppositories daily (10mg Valium), Alfusozin to relax my bladder neck, and using your stretching videos. The PT saw me once a week. I was able to figure out that my constipation caused a lot of problems for my bladder. I have to keep that under control with diet and stool softeners. Finally, I bought a big exercise ball and I have found THAT to be the most effective treatment for my PFD and Proctalgia Fugix. I sit on it while on the computer. It was the last thing I needed to be pain free. So now I have come off the Baclofen and I use the Valium suppositories only as needed. In a few months I will see if I can ditch the Alfusozin. There is light at the end of this tunnel. I am so grateful for your videos.

I just came across this video looking for something else , BUT so glad I did. I was told i have had a prolapsed uterus for over 10 yrs. I didn’t know. I started complaining about cramping deep in my stomach area that felt like cramps, but painful like false labor pain level. They did internal and external vaginal testing and told me it was ‘normal’ due to my age (40 @ that time). Then i was diagnosed with sciatica. the pain was still happening even after those stretches. I now know for sure it’s my pelvic floor because i went to a trampoline park with my kids and had the ‘ i peed my pants look’ after i got home and went to the bathroom. How embarrassing and also enlightening to find out that way. Thank you So much for this instruction so i can do this while awaiting insurance approval to see a specialist. Stay safe and blessed.

Hey doc! Cool info. You touched on the idea that relaxing the legs and back is important for these techniques. It really is! Imagine massaging a bicep while holding a weight or doing a pushup. Now try massaging that bicep while the whole arm is resting on a pillow and fully relaxed. Very different experiences, with differing efficacies. The bathtub position is awesome, or on a bed with pillows bolstering the back and legs. Deep core relaxation can help the unwinding process so much. Thanks again, doc - great stuff.

This video just showed up on my feed and I will for sure be trying these. Thank you. Any releases that have been done in therapy never last very long so I’m still always trying to relax my pelvic floor daily. I don’t experience pain except for when it can severely slow down my gut mobility then I get upper ab pressure and back pain but after tests, etc, I’m starting to believe the tension I experience daily, even from hot temperatures over the last year is actually from spacisity. Was diagnosed with ppms last year. Some meds be tried haven’t been helpful but I haven’t lost hope for a treatment. I haven’t found any videos on KZbin that mentions tension being caused by it but I’ll be mentioning it to my doctor tomorrow. 🤞

These advanced massage techniques aren't widely taught in the U.S. due to differences in traditional medical practices and regulations. Some specialized schools might offer similar training, but full certification as seen in China or Vietnam is rare here. @vibrantpelvichealth7 ай бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! Stretching and massaging the perineal area can offer several benefits, including improved circulation, relaxation of muscles, and potentially reducing tension or discomfort. While it's not necessary for everyone, incorporating perineal stretches and massage into your routine can promote overall pelvic health and may be particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing pelvic floor issues or preparing for childbirth. As always, it's essential to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new exercises. ~Vibrant Support

Thank you. It is very important to keep in mind this is not I repeat NOT something that massage therapist do. As she said check with your pelvic floor physical therapist. What she is talking about is out of scope of practice for massage therapist and you will insult them if you ask a massage therapist for such work.

@@vibrantpelvichealth - Been there done that. But, thanks for the suggestion anyway. I just finished biofeedback therapy with no results. Apparently Im in the category of the 10% who dont benefit from biofeedback. Evidence is starting to point towards an inability to relax the parasympathetic internal pelvic floor muscles so im researching unconventional methods to disrupt nerve communication to those muscles while I wait for my next doctor visit. They will likely want to inject botox into the muscle or something. In a few minutes Im about to run some experiments doing an enema with about 100ml of water containing 500mg of glycine squirted just above the rectum where it can touch and absorb into the internal pelvic floor muscles.

Hello! I’m so happy I found your channel! Do any of these releases help for symptoms of UTI? (but no infection, I had lots of negative cultures, been on many antibiotics but nothing helps) my urologist suspects PFD or a tight pelvic floor. I have frequent urination, painful urination, painful sex, do these or any particular releases help for those symptoms? Going to try it! Thanks!!

Hello Dr. Now I'm guessing this is a very informative teaching here but my question is,, what are the symptoms? Or, how do I know that I need these techniques? I may be getting tense in that area but at this point,, I really haven't a clue. Thanks for taking the effort to share this as I've never heard of this before now.

I felt very a tangible coolness in the area after the sitting bone release, as though some actually cooler blood was starting to flow around. Is this normal? And is this good?
@vibrantpelvichealth4 ай бұрын
The cooling sensation you experienced after the sitting bone release is not uncommon and can be a positive sign, often indicating improved blood flow and reduced tension in the area - trust your body's signals and celebrate these subtle changes as potential signs of progress in your pelvic health journey. ~ Vibrant Support
