Wow wow wow what a phenomenal Mix, already loved the GSTMIX of this theme but you really made this a full fledged Jazz Fusion extravaganza, just perfect choices from beginning to end, this really just helps realize how incredibly linked VGM and Jazz Fusion actually is, you pretty much boiled it all down right at the beginning that these soundtracks have a specific sound to them, and its pretty much the combination of that genre with the way the (limited) hardware produces the sounds of the console, and it works so well together. Like the previous Mix, this speaks for itself and its another in the long list of favorites mixes, but without a doubt the transition of "Boomer Kuwanger" to "Take Back The Tower" is one of my favorite transitions you have ever done, "Boomer Kuwanger" sounds fantastic slowed down like that but going into that Sax solo hits me right in the soul, that entire Alph-Lyla Rockman X album is massively underappreciated, its one of my favorite arrangement albums, its just a brilliant piece of art. Just like the art of this Mix, you really filled it with amazing jams, also very glad the "Europe" track from Air Management '96 returned, love seeing returning songs that fit into another Mix theme, just shows how diverse same tracks can be. And as usual appreciate all the facts and history throughout the video, this stuff is just great to learn. Thanks as always anosci for giving us the best Mixes ever, you're a hero to the world of VGM appreciation! :)

As a non-musicy person it's always intrigued me as to what this "game sound" was. Thanks for enlightening me!

I love the unabashed cheesiness of Japanese fusion music so this was an especially enjoyable mix. Amazing transitions and interesting facts as always too!

Yes, more Jazz Fusion coverage! And thank you for mentioning the Mega Man X arrangement album. Although I too went into it expecting some heavy rock, I was actually quite pleased with their unique take of the song and it's a solid jam.

Dang, didn't know that Taku Iwasaki did some game soundtracks. I'm mainly aware of his anime work, which are some of my all-time favourite OSTs.

Megaman X tune is a good example of how fun jazz fusion can be in chiptune form vs the real thing which can sound obnoxious. When this genre is pushed into an extreme level of cheese like Redbook midi I can start to appreciate it on that level again for the pure elevator muzak-ness.

what is redbook midi?
@lambofarmer78352 жыл бұрын
@@suckmymonkey4315 redbook audio. Pardon. I only talk out my arse 75% of the time but listening to whatever that second tune was there threw me off cos it was like CD audio quality tunage that wasn't live instrumental recording.

Great video, but to say T-Square is one of the biggest names in fusion isn't quiiite so, maybe in Japan where of course fusion and city pop were huge and great. But the core sound and indeed the biggest names of fusion, come from USA! Japan's adoption of American jazz and and rock styles added to the amazing amalgamation, or fusion, we have today, but influences in that regard are worldwide, for sure a lot of Polynesian influences (that beachy, "Hawaiian" sound). I guess when synths started taking off in the 70s/80s and composers had sounds from around the world all available in little boxes, and with advances in recording technology (digital age etc.,) people around the world all felt more inclined to try play with new sounds and styles. As long as we aren't saying jazz fusion is a Japanese thing!

I'd argue that the "vgm flavor" of jazz fusion is a Japanese thing, but the US side of the genre is admittedly a bit of a blind spot for me. I perceived the US (and UK) stuff as an extension of prog rock, vs Japan where it seems to be more of an evolution of [city] pop. that perception was built by noticing patterns in the stuff I listen to, moreso than reading about the history of it all, so I'm happy to defer to someone with deeper knowledge.
