I never thought I would find this interesting but I did! In fact I never thought that I would do aerobatics but this year I have had aerobatic passenger rides both in and ON aeroplanes as can be seen on my KZbin channel. My Extra 300 'Utter Nutter' flight is definitely a highlight for me along with the aerobatic wing walk that I did atop a 75 year old Boeing Stearman bi-plane.

22:50 "we do our flippy dos"... she has a way with those technical terms. covers = fairings. The rudder counter balance weight is not like an aileron spade (you don't need assist on rudder. Weight prevents flutter.)

Bryan Jansen Your exactly right! That tube coming out by the tail spills out the oil that finds its way out during the aerobic maneuvers. It keeps leaking out and the bottle catches it to minimize the mess.

I recently had a passenger flight in one of these in Britain as can be seen on my KZbin channel. It was fantastic! The pilot gave me lots of air-show quality manoeuvres as part of the 'Utter Nutter' challenge. I completed the challenge and became 'Utter Nutter number 207' out of around 400 that have tried. I still think the aerobatic wing walk that I did atop a Boeing Stearman bi-plane just about tops my Extra 300 flight though!

George Jacob LOL! Yeah, my big mistake was, when I’d done a few maneuvers, telling the pilot, “Show me what this thing can REALLY do.” Several minutes later, searching a few miles back for my stomach... The wing walking sounds neat. Have you tried skydiving?

I told the pilot to start off gently to see if I could cope with the manoeuvres. I screamed during the first easy loop manoeuvre but I was completely fine for the far more difficult tumbling manoeuvres! Yes I've done a couple of tandem skydives both of which can be seen on my channel. I got the idea to skydive at the age of 45. I had to build up my confidence to do it so I did Indoor Skydiving and zip-lining on the longest, fastest zip-line in Europe (ZipWorld in Wales at over 1 mile long and speeds of 100+ mph over a lake). I was VERY nervous before my first 10,000ft skydive but almost all my fear went away the moment I got kitted up and I enjoyed my flight from take off in the plane to landing under the canopy. After skydiving I thought 'How can I top THAT? Wing Walking? YES! WING WALKING!' All I can say is get up there and do it. There is NOTHING like standing on the top wing of a Boeing Stearman and looking down at that propeller and experiencing the thrill of the ride! Plus you get to do the PROPER wing walking in America. In England where I live we're strapped to the top wing from take off to landing. I would love to go to Mason's Wing Walk Academy in Sequim, Washington and do a proper wing walk over the sea. I think they charge about $950 for a flight using both wings or $650 for one wing. Flights last about 25 minutes but you also get hours of training to make sure that you can climb on the wings and secure yourself properly. It's just got to be done!

Isn‘t the pilot sitting on the second seat, so the Center Of Gravity goes further behind and the flight behavior is more unstable? Because in a more unstable flight behavior, bringing the plane in a new state is more easy, and that is what aerobatic pilots want, right? Or am I wrong?

Domi Grin Some airplanes are flown solo from the rear seat like the Extra. It’s actually quite common as other examples are the Stearman, Waco, PT-22.

Bryan Jansen This is a very early Extra. The later ones were low wing to improve forward visibility. Pilots were saying they couldn’t see the runway that well so Walter Extra lowered the wing
