I think Tales from the Tardis is a bumper show designed to bring in past Doctors and companions to sit and enjoy nostalgia, while watching classic Who episodes. *Bumper show like, Mystery Science Theater 3000. The next Tales from the Tardis looks like the classic Pyramids from Mars episode. Makes sense to use the memory Tardis idea and the current Doctor and Companions, with the current modern Disney Who season

I have this week watched the pyramids of Mars and all the recent Doctor who series to catch up on the SUTEKH STORY I'm so looking forward to seeing the last episode tomorrow

3 points from me. 1. I love how Doctor Who (and other genre stuff like Star Wars) inspires fan films. Back in the late 80's I was in a group of Doctor Who fans who also made our own films. Sort of. We had an argument about who would play the Doctor, and it got so heated and the schism so big I, and others, left the group. They did make their film. The Doctor was played by (still to this day a bad idea imho) Phil Collinson. Honestly, he was rubbish but very driven even then. Our mate Gordon was the Doctor in another (really well done, I wasn't involved either) fan film and was ace. But both groups were creative and had fun. Point is fan films are brilliant on their own and can even lead to a career. 2. I hope the mask returns as a sort of trap, or an indicator that he's trapped. I fully expect Sutekh to be around next season, not as the main antagonist for the main but still pulling strings as we see more of his 'children' trying to set him free and fighting the Doctor. If Sutekh is destroyed next episode I will be beyond disappointed. 3. Tales Of The Tardis. Isn't that already out? There's a version there, I watched it last night. Just an edit with no visual changes. I'll have to wait and see. Good vid mate, I'm liking your stuff.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it before but the Eye Of Horus and jewel on the headdress of Sutekh in the Legend Of Ruby Sunday is red like a ruby. I wonder if that has any significance. The Eye Of Horus was a device that suppressed Sutekh which he broke in Pyramids Of Mars. I also noticed that the actress playing The Kind Woman who RTD said was on a distant planet in Empire Of Death looks like to me like a younger version of Mrs Flood.

It's a Jackel/Donkey. Set or Sutekh in actual earth mythology was commonly either a Human with the head of a Donkey, or a Jackel with the head of a Donkey. The beast form seams to straddle the line of donkey and jackal.

I can’t see sutekh becoming humanoid that was only done originally because of budget restraints. The good boy doggo sutekh is here to stay.😎 all I want from the finale is closure of the narrative arcs the series has started such as the Susan plotline, who ruby really is, why the dr has been acting so out of character since bigenerating, the whole shift towards paranormal/spiritual themes over sci-fi, if the finale gives me answers to most of those questions I will be happy. Obviously some storylines will carry on into next season just give the viewers some answers and make the season pay off.

Doctor Who is designed to be around forever. The last Doctor, according to the Doctor Who wiki, is eons old. Tom Baker lookalike image returns several times. David Tennant was the first to regenerate into the same face, like the Curator said would happen. But room for many many Doctor's Big Finish was looking into making video productions. So, maybe in combination with Disney, Doctor can last along time with many spin-offs, like Star Wars.

The ratings are terrible because most of the UK doesn't watch the broadcast episode anymore, they watch it on streaming. Then BBC wants to cry about viewership while intentionally saying that all of us international fans don't deserve to get Tales from the Tardis, Which is the only way for viewers who haven't watched all of classic [also not allowed to people outside the UK] can get the context for what RTD is doing in the current series. Seems like the BBC's newest attempt at killing Dr Who. Pretty sure this is the 3rd time the brits are trying to get the longest running Sci-fi series of all time cancelled.

It's the fact we have to "take to the high seas" which is the problem. This entire season has been getting shit on for how low their viewer ratings are and then they release a supplementary mini series to give context to the future of RTD2 bit oh yeah, they discriminate by nationality so now the majority of the audience has to go find 'alternative means' and now they don't get those viewing metrics either. @TheCagedCorvid I would not have a problem with that at all. The idea that the only way to understand a culture is to spend decades growing up in it is small-minded and nationality discrimination. There are so many talented writers who love and respect Dr Who that could write this show. He's done a fantastic job with the show, but RTD has grown his own god complex over Dr Who. Could ANYONE do it? No. NOBODY could do it? BS.

Updating things to pamper to a current audience isn’t good. How can you condone this. It’s like replacing all the effects in Ray Harryhausen films with cgi, reason being that the stop motion doesn’t look convincing. If you want to revisit vintage stuff, see it as it was and appreciate that it’s of its time.

could I ask, is your alternative keeping things exactly the same to how it was? If so, is this an idea that you would apply to everything else, or do you acknowledge that change can bring good? I just don’t really understand your point. If we always tried to copy the past, this would just hinder progression in my opinion. I’m obviously also talking in a broader, societal sense here. But going back to the show, do you take issue with the way that the layout of the cyber men and daleks being changed, along with many other villains. What about the doctor? do you believe that the doctor always has to follow the same profile? I’m so bemused.

Some people will want to see it in it's original glory, and they are free to do that, but others will be able to enjoy it more if it's updated, and that's equally fine. I can't imagine a teenager, for example, being able to see past the older effects, and would be distracted from the story or even give up altogether. They aren't changing the original, it's just another option... chill lol

you mean "pander" not "pamper" but aside from that I think it's a bit of a stretch to compare the painstaking detailed artistry of Harryhausen with the "that'll be fine cos the kids will only see this once" attitude of 70s TV fx! If giving it a bit of polish means younger kids engage with classic Who then by all means do it! The original is still there after all. No biggie

He is. I know theres this whole TC stuff but the Doctor as we know them, is a Time Lord. They were chameleon arched into a gallifreyan child, and had to grow up, as the First Doctor, go to the academy and gain the ability back. They never reopened that chameleon arch, thus, still a Time Lord.

'Time Lords' are a genetic mutation of the Gallifreyans. None of them are born as Time Lords. Regardless of the Doctors origin, they're Still a Time Lord.

@@elliesteele2027 I get it was retconned in other media, however they are already expecting people to know the lore of all the way back to the 1st and 4th dr with the toymaker and sutekh returning, just to give a generation that already has the attentions pan of a goldfish more homework, I still stand on it being silly, they could have just came up with something new, or something more recent like the beast in the satan pit like ruby's adopted mom alluded to and not nearly as far back

@@diyomaxwell330 heriet does not say he is the beast, he says one of the others was mara the god of beasts, the names for suetekh are set, and seth and setekh even on the monitor it never alludes to the beast in the satan pit being suetekh. turning someone eyes red is not really a reused effect, its just easy and looks evil, none of the ood, or the possessed man in the satan pit had sunken mummy looking skin and eyes, and none of the people in this had the ancient writing all over their skin so that is quite the leap to make

That's the only reason to name drop the beast while looking at Sutekh and using the same characteristics for their powers and abilities. RTD/ the BBC are intentionally trying to keep people from doing extra homework on this in order to get a definitive answer by making sure to lock the vast majority of the audience away from supplementary content such as Tales from the Tardis. Either these are the inferences that they wants us to have, or they're making sure to discriminate against enough of the audience that people get lost and stop watching.
