Congratulations on your GREAT shop! Having set up a speed shop similar to yours, one thing you can do about the lighting is paint the walls white. Gotta prime that particleboard first, and then regular white will help a lot. Now that I'm retired (yes, I'm a retread), I'm feeling stirrings of jealousy. You have a GREAT shop.

So my John is for both issues. Echo and lighting, 2 birds one stone. Thin foam sheeting on the walls. Must be white........( lighting -reflection ). Echo, I believe the foam would be like sound barrier much like a home music studio. Attach with liquid nails cut with knife. Home Depot, Lowes or whatever you around you. By the way congrats and keep up the good work. Impressed.

DIY acoustic panels...also, daylight temperature light bulbs. 5600-6400 kelvin. That way the bay lighting will match the outdoor sun temperature lighting so you could also shoot video with the door open and things aren’t yellow or green or blue which happens when your camera wants to white balance and the color temperature is different.

John, where are the Dancing Girls? My suggestion for your new shop is Dancing Girls :-). I'm building out my '02 Road King to 95", S&S oil pump, and gear drive 585 cams, if my run out is w/in spec. When I'm road worthy, I'm gonna need to replace my 20 y/o tires. Maybe I can come up from Houston and have you put some good touring white walls on my RK (who's working nick name is SoSlow). Flag is awesome! Best of luck w/ you new shop!

John, have you thought about painting all that chip-board a light gray color. Would really help with the lighting in there and improve the video quality. I know, huge job. Should have been done before moving in. But ...... would be a huge improvement. As for the echo, ask some sound people for help. Most sound absorption material doesn't do well in dust creating environments. Maybe cover the walls with light gray carpet. Haha. Kill two birds with one ....... rug ??

Ass-kickin place you got there, John. Don't worry about the echo in the shop - its not very noticable. And, hey.... its a SHOP!! At some point I hope you get some shop T-shirts for sale. Hey Shadetree is opening his Brap Star community moto garage, and said he's coming to check out your place. Maybe you can get down to check out his. I hope you both succeed to the max. One question - will you be able to get approval to do warranty work on Harleys as an independent technician? Later bro!

Good luck with the shop. The one thing I would do is light the fuck out of it. Maybe it's a factor of age, but I like bright. There's a lot of LED shop light stuff on Amazon. Another thing is the floor. You might want to finish it. Check out The Humble Mechanic. He just did his shop floor. He actually had a whole garage built, but the floor is nice.

Get a Chamberlain WiFi garage door opener, an extra sensor for bay door 2, and the extra piece for Alexa compatibility. Let’s you open the door from your phone or watch, and tells you if the door is open or closed, AND set alerts if it’s open in the middle of the night or open for too long, whatever. I love this tech stuff, AND your channel. Keep up the good work!

Best of luck with your new business and Congratulations on taking a step that most people would be too afraid of failure to even try to attempt. I would also recommend that you contact your insurance company about getting discounts for having a Security system. Most of them will offer a discount but, they generally will require that the security system be a 24/7 "professionally" monitored system to be able to get that discount. Also, in the future please don't post public videos that detail your security setup(especially video feeds) because the best security is through obscurity. And you need to maintain the illusion that if any one even attempts to do anything at all, they will get caught by the security system. Please also don't fall into the trap of "Security theater"; it's supper easy to do so.

A Good Start on a New Shop @John Maxwell I find it funny that you don't like loud noises yet so many Harley Riders have to ride with Open Pipes on their slow Heavy no Performace Crusisers.. that look cool .. Puttng the Air Compressor outdoors in the elements to avoid some noise.. Looks like you got the right tools .. Lifts , Tire Balancer tire changer.. I am not sure what @shadetree surgeon is up to, but it looks like he has leased a nice building too. The first thing he did is painted it all nice bright colors.. You should have painted all of thise Wood Walls White before you moved any equiptment in .. White really helps to refelct the Light in your Shop.. Don't worry about a little Noice just turn up the Radio a little Louder..

If you're going to drill big holes for mounting the equipment to the floor, get a Rotary Hammer Drill. Works WAY better than that crappy hammer drill when you're drilling bigger holes. Harbor Freight makes a great one for a great price. Or you can rent them from most rental places.

The echo isn't that bad. For the table vids, you could use the moving blankets to form a room in the corner to improve sound and lighting when you're doing that kind of stuff. I'd suggest some rubber or foam work mats around the lifts and work areas. Once you've got the place stocked with equipment and product it'll be better and you can fill the gaps with sound deadening panels
