📜 The History of Khosrau Anushirawan, Part 2
Kavadh asked his allies in Eastern Rome for help getting Iran back on its feet. The Romans' replies were not only unhelpful - they were insulting. By the time Khosrau inherited the throne, resentment and war had turned the delicate alliance with Rome into an open rivalry.

Welp, Justinian kind of screwed up early, didn't he? Yeah, technically it wasn't a bad idea to help foment chaos amongst the Sassanids by delaying negotiations, but it still would have been less costly both in the short run and in the long run to just amicably settle terms with Khosrau immediately and be done with it. Alas, now Justinian has to prepare for a 'master class of trollsmanship' by Khosrau in the future. Prepare for Operation: Stick it to Justinian!

V. Athanasiou Ob I didn't know that. What do you called when someone has two different eye colour.
@Slash-XVI
@Slash-XVI 6 жыл бұрын
+Blugale Doh The term used is heterochromatia usually with the addition of iridis or iridum to specifically designate that it is the eyes which are of different color. However this term also encompases cases in which only parts of one iris are of a different color.
@LeoMidori

Precisely! My eyes are light blue, but I have a very prominent brown section in one eye which is known as segmental heterochromia. However, if both my eyes were entirely separate colours (one brown one blue for example) that would be complete heterochromia.

David Bowie did not have heterochromia. He sustained an injury to his eye which caused his pupil to become permanently dilated.

I like that the late roman is wearing more appropriate clothes for time period. these videos are great for trying to get overviews for a bunch of things. Would be great if you guys could do a video on Cyrus the great as he gets like no recognition when his feats should be considered at least as great as Ceasar's feats.

And thus Justinian committed one of the great errors Machiavelli warned against: Take a side properly, don't refuse to act. If you refuse to act, either winner will remember that you didn't support him. If you choose a side and push properly (send in the troops!) the likely winner will remember you favorably. If the other side wins you're in more or less the same position, except the war your lack of support will engender will be immediately, which is to your favor as you already have your troops on the border.

3:13 in subnuatica multiplayer I tricked my enemies into slowly dismantling 1-section tube "bases" plastered in swastikas, they had no idea I was diverting them with grafiti to loot everything they had into portable deployable lockers, their gold and polymer resources ran dry, I hid in the shadows of an coral archway as they swam back, and I got and reaped the spoils: these bases were meant to be distractions, and they served their jobs well to their graves.

Hmm, Hephthalites continue to be the winner in this episode. What kind of neighbour can be better than one that give you tribute, tired from political instability both inside & outside of the country and own you a favor since you lent him armies to fight with the Romans?
@Blazo_Djurovic
@Blazo_Djurovic 6 жыл бұрын
Well, they didn't so much as lend Iranians the armies, so much as they tagged along on Iranian's spring Burn and Loot campaign. Basically they were there for loot and glory.
@demeterruinedmylife3199
@demeterruinedmylife3199 6 жыл бұрын
Блажо Ђуровић I believe that's true too. I was just thinking that they're still nominally sent to help, and it's hard to outright point out that they're only here for the loot in diplomatic occasions. For example, if the Iranians ask "can we lower our tribute?" or blah blah blah, then the Hephthalites reply that "hey, we helped you, dude!" , and the Iranians point out that they do that for the loot only... That will cause huge embarrassment and perhaps piss the Hephthalites off... something like that.
