Personally I both agree and disagree with your assessment of the motivation behind the siege. Yes, everything you said has merit, but mostly for the nobles and royalty, not the commoners. I mean let us be honest the difference in religion in theory would have been a bigger motivation for the commoners.

I get your point, but the Poles didn’t keep their defense pact and thereby even kind of betrayed the Austrians. As stated in the video, they only joined after being paid. So they were more like mercenaries, then allies.

Well, while Austrians were not too interested in preventing the partition of Poland, even if they were interested, they would have needed to fight wars against the much stronger Russians to prevent them. Fun fact about hussars: They still exist but have been mostly converted to armored units. Poland has no hussar units but in May of this year they announced that their F-35 fleet would be called “Huzars” in honor of the winged hussars.
@LuperisNone4 ай бұрын
28:58 Little correction: The (noise of the) wooden wings didn't frighten anybody. In fact in the cacophony of sounds of clattering metal armor, hundreds of galloping horses, men screaming and gunshots, the wings weren't even audible. Those wings were meant as defenses against lasso attacks (especially from the crimean tartars).

6:14 Slaves. The word you mean to use is slaves. The ottomans have a long history of taking Christians as slaves from the Christian population of Europe, especially the ones they conquered in the Balkans and Ukraine. Infact, this practice was so common the word Slave comes from the Slave port of Azov, which dealt mainly in Slavs. The Circassian slave trade of particularly women from Caucasus to the Muslim world via Anatolia and Constantinople continued until the 20th century.

If you watch enough of this guy’s videos, especially recently, he basically always presents any western achievement as coincidence or on the back of human suffering while presenting every others culture’s achievement as a great triumph of humanity without blemishes. Whenever he does mention non-western barbarism, it’s always explained away through context whereas anything remotely European or American is presented as inherently evil.
