One of the great activities of beekeeping with the kids, because it creates memories of just hanging with dad.

“Let’s give it a whirl”...😂😂. Beautiful honey and always great to get it flowing so you can see the culmination of all the bees work and your work. I know that had to be exciting for the kids to help.

Nice video and I think we’re all set for when the extractor arrives in a few days! I see your garlic off to the side there, drying. Honey & garlic seem to go well together and we also grow garlic.

Honey garlic!! Yes! Delicious! I used the end of mine up a few weeks ago. May have to make more. 🤔

Matt it looks like you could filet a fish in under a minute. LOL Our MN honey is so light colored compared to the southern folks. What did you do with all the honey in the cappings? Crush and strain? "Can you smell that flora" - a great smell indeed!!
@mattsara28022 жыл бұрын
😆 yes I can. Yeah I have noticed that it is way lighter here. I did what Mike Berry did. Made Pattie’s and let them drain.
@MinnesotaBeekeeper2 жыл бұрын
Yours is light? I never really paid attention before Russell. Ours is rather dark. Maybe is the marshland and the forest here.
@mattsara28022 жыл бұрын
Last year was darker than this year. But my first year was light too.

Nice video, that looked like a happy beekeeper in that last shot in the video. Got a question, have you put any Med frames in it yet? If so, how did they fit? Radial or like the deep frames, where ya gota flip them?
@mattsara2802 Жыл бұрын
Thanks. The mediums you don’t have to flip.

Matt put your uncapper bucket right next to the extractor, limits the floor drippings. Maybe on a table so your not bending over? Is that garlic drying on the rack?! I'll be right over :)

I remember watching is helping😅 my mommy use to tell me that lol lots sometimes. It's hard to stand and be patient watching when ya a little, they did real well. When that motor is shifting speed you can see it shift/move a bit, be sure to check your bolts again. You can see that🍯smile in you eye as you watch it spin.🤠Kids are fun I get a kick out of them when Joy just wiggles out of them.😇Happy Family, Happy Bees, Happy Keeper, Ty for sharing, Blessed Days... I am at that point of really needing an extractor, and this is just my first summer lol. I though about getting a lower end module but next season I'm planning to hit the high teens to low twenties with nucs and I run deeps, that could be a lot of flipping.😮💨Figure I'll try and save for a bit and get a 12 or 18 would love a 24 for later expansion, but I notice extractors are kind of spendy.

Should the honey gate at the bottom be open the entire time so the honey does not get into the bearing that the support shaft rests on? Is this even something to be concerned about??!!
@mattsara2802 Жыл бұрын
If you were going to run a lot of frames, then yes, you can leave it open. If you are not then it doesn’t matter as long as you don’t go over the bearing.
