I have NF1 too, giving me lots of extra skin, nerve growth and some small handicaps, which gives me some big difficulties in life. So hearing something about it here, that there is might be chance of stopping it in the future, makes me very happy.

@@Locked717 first, I'm not a man. Second, most rocks are created from living organisms (fossils, or sand, created from seashells, which once were living organisms). So... rocks have DNA, created from once-living organisms, including quartz, fossils, and those made from sand.

@@jenmalcom7004 That is quite simply untrue. Rocks are just a mass or aggregation of minerals. This definition has nothing to do with nucleic acids being present. Most rock material in fact is the product of geological processes on earth. On your point about fossils and shells: fossils contain very little to no original material from whatever they were originally from - they are justs casts. Shells and exoskeletons also may contain minerals, but don't contain any living cells or genetic material, they are simply products of processes encoded in genetic material. Animal bones however may harbor cells, but when they are separated from the organism those cells die and their genetic material will quickly break down. The bones themselves on the other hand may exist independently long after

Nothing. Mercury is sealed. At most thermometer will show lover temperature because of loose of energy.

That would be a problem if they were trying to extract DNA for analysis purposes. But here, just to show the extraction, it doesn't really matter if there is a few human DNA strands mixed in. But yeah, there would be contamination with this method.
