Good luck getting any more than 2% of domestic contractors to register to be able to install extractor fans in domestic households, especially if it includes a yearly inspection! The industry/Government needs to seriously market the fact that changing a bathroom fan requires notification, because most homeowners will not understand why someone is charging twice the amount to "do it properly". The thing that annoys me the most with extractor fan manufacturers (Envirovent included), is when they put their logo on the front cover, so that it can only neatly be installed one way up which rarely fits with the existing wiring when replacing an old fan.

Jesus....about 6 grand to change a fan now.....ducting, insulated ducting, testing, measuring gaps under doors, notifying building control......looks like diy dave is gonna be fitting a lot of bathroom fans

What has air circulation, ventilation and air tightness to do with the electrical installer. After all the electrician doesn’t install the boiler he has just connected. Isn’t ventilation just another service that requires power, but now also a knowledge of airflow within a building is that not the realms of a ventilation engineer who can calculate what is needed.
