I have really short bitten nails and when prepping to get the rest of the cuticle and hang skin off with the ball bit what RPM is best?? I feel like I am putting the rpm’s too high and it makes my skin raw and really doesn’t remove the extra hang skin…..?🤷🏼‍♀️ help 😫

Fantastic transformation. I hope your new nails will help you to grow out your nails and in doing so, will alleviate you nail biting habit. Since I as a little girl (now 69 yrs old), I was a nail biter, to the point of making my nails bleed because I chewed them so short. On my birthday this year, I decided that I was finally going to have nice nails and that they would be my own. And seven months later, I have done exactly that. Of course they are not perfect...misshapen and thin from years of abuse. But they are mine and I now have self confidence I didn't know I was missing. When I am stressed enough there is no acrylic I can’t chew through sadly. My little inherited the nail biting as well 😭 I can go a year without biting and then all at once I’ll start again. Also happy Mother’s Day to you and all the other mommas on here♥️

Oh sweetie! I hope things get better so you don't have to chew through the acrylic. Be careful chewing off the acrylic. One of my nail sisters does that and caught the nail in between the right- wrong tooth. She broke off 2 teeth that cracked down to the root. Cost her over $2500 to get them repaired

This helps me a lot! Your nails turned out so beautiful. I was doing dip with gel and stopped for about a year. I am a horrible nail bitter, too. So is my daughter. I decided to try acrylic for the very first time and then painting with gel polish, and they turned out to be easier and less time consuming then the gel and dip. I'm going to start doing acrylic on my daughter's nails, too, to get more practice and, hopefully, get her to stop biting her nails. I don't bite when I have enhancements. I'm hoping she is the same. You did an amazing job. They look beautiful. I had a nail client who used to have bitten and torn nails. I would put a nice set of acrylics on and over two weeks she would pick, chew and destroy all of my good work. Every two weeks I was putting on a fresh set of extensions.

You can use liquid latex on the skin first too, if you’re not allergic to latex and don’t mind the extra step. Makes cleaning under the tip so much easier and prevents allergies!

Help!! I'm 65 and have very very fragile thin short short nails. I have done 40 years of acrylic and gel nails. When nails are on I never pick on my fingers. But when they come off they are layered like an onion so I start to pick and bite them down to nothing. I've purchased a ton of nail strengthening products to give my nails a break between new nails. I dont know how to get them strong again. Or know if they have always been thin. I was a nail biter as a child and see myself doing that again. Btw my toe nails are strong and thick so I'm perplexed as to why my hand nails have never been hard. Help please

Same! I noticed that even though I’ve always had very thin nails, that after I had chemo my nails began to split all the way through vertically. Trying to find a diy solution because if I have nothing on, they will just keep going into my nail bed!

@s.engelsman4521 I've been doing this in addition to all of her wonderful recommendations. So far in month #2 of wearing these white tips. Real easy to put on. They last 2 weeks then I take off, clean nail then redo. This is giving my nail time to grow out stro ger and healthier. The brush on Kiss Glue is a big help too. Look. I was hoping to add a photo. I use tiny white tips vs covering the entire nail.

I'm totally the same! I use gel but if I wait too long between fills and I get lifting then I start picking then I try to file them down to get rid of the lifting (and tell myself that I'm going to redo them soon so filing is needed but then I don't so I get more lifting and do more filing and end up overfiling) and then once most of the gel is gone I start biting my nails and the skin around my nails and then they just look horrible and embarrasing!

Have you tried polygel to create new ones? Nailcou has a client, Anna, who had reeeeaaally bad nails, like yours atm. But they look great now. I just feel pain looking at yours and it kinda triggers my anxiety too. Have you looked into meds to help with the stress? Sorry if too personal, but I know what *I* do when stressed. 💗

You're still my favorite YT nail tech because you bite your nails, that was why I got into nails I bite my nails and I would go into salons and I was actually refused a few time and they always would pop off in ~5 days or so. I even went my local school and she said my nails 'aren't good for the girls to practice on' and at that moment I told myself I need to learn how to do nails and now my nails last about 3-4 weeks however I get bored too easily and change them weekly 😂 Happy mothers day!! 💐

Hey as a nail bitter I can relate but compare to yours mines was way worse. I use to bite my nails so short they would bleed and bite around them on my skin. I stopped biting my nails in January 2022 and around the summer started back but not as bad as I use to. Then I stopped and they been growing back but the annoying thing about having nails are things getting under them and they break/split. Also I hate when they at different links due to some of them breaking/Splitting but I been learned to not let that bothered me because in the past I would start back bitting my nails due to the break of them.

I have bitten my nails since I was about 3 or 4 yrs old between stress from school, stress from my home life and stress from my 1st job. Now I'm away from all that crap. My nails are short, they are longer once the nails grow off the tip of my fingers and off the nails. I wanted to know how or what I could do to not let that happen? I want my nails to only be on the fingers itself not growing off the fingers. I want them longer. Would I just need to get cuticle oil and that metal tool and push back the cuticles so the bottom of my nails would be a little longer and not growing off the fingers? Every time I get the nails to grow off the top of my fingers they get dirt under them that can't be gotten out of under my nails, I am not good at filing them cause they end up breaking off as I go to file them or the nail cracks so I end up biting them off and have to restart the cycle. I just want to have my nails longer only on the finger itself, no part of the nail growing off the top.
