I just realized us EUC riders are super heroes to anyone not riding. We are. We truly are. We show the world anything is possible. We look like we defy the laws of gravity, and in a way we do, always in a controlled fall longer than any sky diver. I think what brings me the most joy is seeing the faces of people smile and not so much the riding. Keep riding.. Thank you Marty.

wow!! awsome man!!, I have one of these bad boys(commander). struggling with high temperature same as you do. that`s a brilliant design of you!!! so cool! It reached 70 degrees centigrade when I climbed a mountain on a sunny day. I think 73 degrees is top limited and allows you to ride it, after that the pedal just warps to forbid you to stand on it.

@@ElectricUnicycles we made 3/4 holes like in your video as close to the same spots. Tested today in 88F and it was consistent hovering around 60-65C. It usually just keeps climbing but not now. I was accelerating harder than normal and could see the temp going down at speed. 👏👏

I wonder if a chain saw or lawn mower air filter would fit inside the front?
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles 2 жыл бұрын
From my testing experience (here and with different wheels), ANY kind of filter placed in front of ventilation holes reduces the airflow by 90+%, killing any benefit. Filter material will only work if you have powerful fans forcing the air through the material.
@eucryan
@eucryan 2 жыл бұрын
@@ElectricUnicycles putting a fan in there could be possible. I'm thinking putting a filter in there instead of the plugs. 10 or 20% more air flow when dusty or raining might help compared to 0%.

I have another idea of cooling modification but it's more complicated. You can see it in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX3Yn6qXf8xja6c but it's not only about cooling there are also some other modifications. You can use subtitles if you don't understand that language.

thank you fo rsharing experience. Are you plan sherman max solo overheat hill again? Is max realy more powerfull if have same magnets numbers and size like vanila sherman? What is you opinion becasue comander must be arealy more torque and efortless for ride compared to sherman max
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles 2 жыл бұрын
The Sherman Max was already ridden up Overheat Hill (I have a video) with zero problems. I recommend the Sherman Max over the Commander UNLESS range is more important. The Commander has more range than any wheel currently in production.

I am not certain about the location the veteran sherman measures the temp but it goes right into the red during these 103degree F days. I wonder if 130 is something to be concerned about?
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles 2 жыл бұрын
That's a temperature not to worry about. When you see the temp's going north of 65° your wheel is starting to run hot. If it climbs about 70° you know you're in tough conditions and that it'll probably be getting hotter so maybe let it rest for ~5-minutes. I'd feel comfortable riding all day long at any temp up to ~65°
@laurv8370
@laurv8370 2 жыл бұрын
now the question is if you do really cool the mosfets, or just the temperature sensor, which is mounted on top of the PCB? because if last, you don't only cheat the graphs, but also make your riding very dangerous, mosfets get hot and go undetected, then blow... I think you need more research here...
@ElectricUnicycles
@ElectricUnicycles 2 жыл бұрын
People have mentioned this for years. It's a non-issue IMO. The temp sensor has physical contact with the board which means heat transfer to the sensor is much greater that any affect from increased air flow in the control board chamber.
