There are so many PC air cooling solutions that can be implemented. I would love to see them have a hermetically sealed electronics compartment. The mossfest would mounted to a aluminum heat distributor with heat pipes going out of it. The heat pipes would connect to a heatsink that is a part of the outer casing, and has air streaming over it as you drive your EUC.

in my opinion it's not acceptable to spend so much on a wheel and have to carry out modifications that should have been in place from factory. This only reinforces the fact this company did not thoroughly test this product before it was released and waiting for riders to be real life testers. Straight up poor and disappointing. After spending North of $4k I would not be looking to drill holes to improve air circulation and make the wheel vulnerable to water intake as well as the concept of butchering a brand new wheel is beyond me I found it difficult to watch lol Thanks Marty for another great video with goid content. mr6ft2

I have an MSP and an EXN and every time I take either one apart I'm appalled by the quality and thoughtfulness of the fit and finish. I agree the gotway wheels have an enjoyable raw power delivery that creates excitement but now the rainy season is starting where I live and the lack of refinement and quality is very discouraging and fustrating. Especially when I don't see it changing with the new wheels that Gotway or whatever they call them selves now are releasing. It seems like they're just using all their existing components and just placing them in different arrangements within new housings. Where is the evolution and integration of newer technology. When they don't take the time to confirm that the cooling is adequate for a high torque wheel that will be used for climbing it makes me wonder is this wheel even safe enough for us to be riding. The type of climbing you were doing Marty is not even a good indication of how much heat will be generated on a steep slow climb in summer temperatures. I feel that the irresponsible way that gotway is building and selling wheels is threatening the very existence of EUCs. What happens when someone is seriously injured or killed when one of these powerful poorly built and engineered wheels malfunction or catches fire. A gotway or gotway related product is not in my future. Especially with wheels like V12, S20, and Abrams on they way. I don't understand how the people that are allowing these wheels to be sold can look at them selves in the mirror! Disgusting!

I'm stunned (but very happy) that they watched your video and admitted it was an issue. Your video on the overheating was definitely enough to give me pause about running out to buy a Commander. This is a step in the right direction. I also agree with the other comments though...it's an indication of lack of attention to important details that is overall concerning....especially on a wheel that can go 40-50mph (HT/HS). I have an RS19 HS and it always runs hot and almost seems to overheat at random. I love the wheel and the way it rides, but overheating can be really dangerous. Safety should always be first! Thanks again for your work here Marty. We are lucky to have you out there giving us dirt. Looking forward to seeing your next heat test with the mods.

Thanks for the great video. This is why I keep telling myself I'll never buy another Gotway (and I might actually stick to it now that KingSong has stepped up the game). I bought a EX.N and it had massive overheating issues. I literally managed to get it to overheat in less than 60 seconds after the wheel had been resting in ambient temperature overnight. To be fair that was while climbing an insanely long and steep hill, BUT my S18 can go up the same hill with me on it and the highest temperature I've seen on it is 140*F! How can Gotway produce wheels and not even test the cooling? I can tell you if a wheel will have heat issues by riding it for just a few minutes. All you have to do is find a steep hill and go up and down it over and over for a few minutes. How can Gotway not do such a basic test when making a product? It's clear they just don't care about the details. How can they put backward firing speakers in a wheel and call it a feature? Its pretty much useless because you can't hear them unless you riding super slow. My RS19 has the new screen in it, and the screen is beyond useless. Dear Gotway: Don't add features to your products unless they are properly implemented and actually work well!
@ElectricUnicycles3 жыл бұрын
Agree with much of what you say, of course. Yeah, the EX-N is a HOT running wheel. Ultimately it's the ride experience that sells me on Gotway. Certainly not their attention to details.

Seems they should forget the rear facing speakers in the future, and focus on airflow and cooling, as this is their about dozenth wheel that can overheat. You can buy stick on Gore-Tex, which will let less air in, but not moisture in, which could be a solution for the future wheels, if there was a huge front air panel.

I must say that it is great that Gotway have responded, however £3k wheel and you are drilling holes for airflow? to be honest I dont think it will be enough. There should have been a large heat sink or a pellitor 12v cooling plate controlled by a temperature switch, easy to do and cheap. I know for a fact this would work far better than warm airflow. During last summer my 16x would over heat, my solution was a bag a frozen peas under the handle for an hour before I sent of to ride, and this increased my riding time by 30minutes, but with a pellitor cooling plate and temperature switch, the controller would never over heat.

Did you hear about the shop that burnt down in Tucson Arizona? That suck. I was really counting on having a shop in America. I'm new to the EUC community, one thing that bothers me is that I would have to ship my EUC to China to get it fixed. I'm really interested in the Abrams because I think it would be a good city wheel. I could lock in up by the roll bars and it has tubeless tire so I could put fix a flat in it. I was wondering you work on EUC's I could watch your videos and maybe fix it myself?
@ElectricUnicycles3 жыл бұрын
NOBODY ever ships a wheel to China for repair. Even if you wanted to pay the exorbitant shipping prices, it's not possible to arrange for a repair. There are lots of local places that will fix an EUC. Most people learn how to do it themselves though. Videos abound on KZbin that show you how. It's probably more work to fix a flat on a tubeless tire.

Ridiculous. Spend $5000+ Canadian so you can work on your DIY skills. If they created a new wheel from scratch then I could see them missing something in the design. @big_petebear85353 жыл бұрын
It really isn't rocket science. My first thought was, "Those are extremely small holes for air cooling." It's baffling to me why Gotway keeps running into the same problem over and over again. Just make a separate airtunnel under the control board and put a bunch of fins on it. Let the metal transfer the heat to a place where water doesn't matter. I know when they put together a schematic for there new order of a few thousand shells, that there has to be an engineer involved. He's either completely incompetent, no one listens to his advice or he hates the company he works for.
