What I interpreted this was that it was possibly the best euc youve ridden, except for the pedal height and safety concerns. Wish I could afford it! If I could this wheel would be mine for sure!

Thanks for the review. I also commend your focus on safety, more reviewers should be highlighting this. However, I think your comments on wet weather splashing of the exterior of the wheel and rider may go too far. I agree that no rider wants a debris stripe up their backside, and that should be addressed, but debris below the knees is just a given. The rider needs to dress for the wet weather ride to mitigate this issue. If not acceptable I would suggest a car, you can't even walk in those conditions without this risk. If the manufacturer closed in the tire enough to fix this problem no one would by the wheel; horrible design, impossible to clear debris from wheel cavity, extra weight, and more plastic subject to damage.

Thanks for all the hard work, friend. Especially all the focus on safety these past couple months. I was wondering if you think it's worth to make an "EUC safety features" video which could teach us about the different safety features of monowheels in general in one video. I imagine it would encompassing everything like hardware safety (electrical wiring, BMS, motherboard connections, fuses and related) all the way to software (tilt back, temp alarm, overload alarm, customizable or non-customizable alarms and etc). You always mention and explain features as you encounter them when you review wheels but maybe having everything in one video would be very useful for those that are interested or care about the specifics! =) Kind of like a research report video into monowheel safety engineering, haha.

Thank you for mentioning the charger I got with the wheel. reported this fact under warranty but I got the answer "No problem as long as it does not exceed 102V" so they don't care about your safety

Actuallly a charger with 101,2 Volts is about exactly how it should be. A 100,8 Charger would NOT be able to charge your wheel to full! There is resistance from the battery because of the amperage used and also small losses of the BMS. Nothing to worry about. And THEN in the end, not the charger decides about finishing charging. Its the BMS that does! When the wheel reaches 100,8Volt AND the cells are balanced the charger shuts off ot at least should. I recently charged a 42Volt pack with a 84Volt charger….and while i would not advice that to non pros or experts, this also works.

Great review. I think a lot of us in the community are waiting for the Sherman-Killer, and the commander was looking promising but based on your review it obviously still falls short. I think within a year or 2 we might have a decent contender with long range, high power, and smart BMS as well as other safety features.

RE: Waterproofing improvement. I think it's much cleaner to use a reinforced aluminum tape between shell halves, rather then using silicone.

Learned the importance of transportation mode when I was on agroup ride and some guys 16x got a flat at the start of the ride. It wouldn't hold air so someone volunteered to carry it back to the workshop and see if they can find out what's wrong. On the way over it turned on while he was carrying it with his hands inside the wheel well so it shredded up his fingers. Thankfully he didn't lose a finger or break anything but he lost a lot of skin and got some nasty rubber burn on there too.

My MSP HT definitely turned on in the box. You can see the deep marred tire gouge in the cardboard. I guess noharm was really done tho

I also don't understand why they put high capacity cells in a high torque wheel, it supposed to be high current cells for increased torque, right?

With 8 parallel cells the weak link isn't the battery pack. The XT60 connectors will desolder at 200 amps after 10 seconds. 8 parallel M50T cells can easily deliver that level of current for 10 seconds without degrading the cells. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3bHqqafj6aMkJY

Great review, Adam. We also loved the wheel when testing it on our chanel. It's just got that something that clicks with the rider, hard to describe. Hopefully the quality concerns will be resolved by future upgrades and EB will leave Begode problems behind. BTW Insta helped with the video quality a lot!

Nice. I might be getting the HS version of that wheel at good price.. 3600Wh and 36Kg good range to weight ratio. then I should be able to visit three neignbouring towns that are all around 50km away from Reykjavik and go back on one charge :0) (not all at the same time ofcause)

Thats just my opinion but you should encourage people to educate themselves to be able to repair their own wheels instead of keep telling them to be passive and spend hundreds in servicing....especially with eucs that break quite regularly depending on how you ride... Good review though.

He has some tear down videos of the more common wheels that can help. Plus, i think it is also a liability issue. tbh, unless it is a "simple" tire swap (as if there is such thing), I'd always send it in. Either to a service or directly to the manufacturer/reseller. I'm not wrecking the device, then get told that insurance won't cover, because I worked on it myself.

I actually never rode an HT wheel. But in theory they sound unappealing. A really big heavy wheel that peaks at 60? Nah. I like riding 60 on my Sherman and enjoying a great safety margin there. When you can't safely ride 60, riding on the street becomes a very sketchy option.

60 is plenty fast for some people. I’d rather have the power at low end to accelerate really hard to 50. Of course fast street riders would rather have top end

@@darkstar4494 and it is "enough" for me too, but i like it when there is a decent headroom of safety when I ride 60. A wheel that can accelerate faster but still maxes out at 50... Nah I'd rather ride my V11 for its narrow size and suspension and headlight

Looks like vanila sherman need ubgrade rim dimension and increase pedal height something what sherman V2 do. Now sherman max shake market i hope veteran not ruin something on sherman max i have vories about 4x900wh make by 21700 instead of vanila 18650 we need some test to show how perform.

I think I asked this question, but can't seem to find it, so sorry if this is a duplicate post. What is meant by this wheel is "Begode related"? Is it the same wheel listed as the Begode Commander on the EWheels website? I am no expert on EUC's, but in my experience (and I've ridden 4 or 5 different wheels), I do like my Begode RS, fire hazard though it may be. It's not too big, has decent power, and feels pretty good. I also have a V11 and it feels too high. But yes, the build quality seems better.

So annoying that toggling the headlight cycles through RGB modes too. They need to use double click to separate them. In order to turn off my light while leaving the wheel on, i must either power down and then power back up, or else cycle through all the RGB modes :(

My understanding is when the wheel gets stuck in the lines of the pavement or road and follows them in there direction instead of the direction your want ... so its like being stuck on a track rather than be free to maneuver as you wish .... i could be wrong of course many countries have different definitions .... hope that helps anyways 🙂

I understand the good points and good to see and hear about them and was very surprised by how well it compares too and betters some modes like the Sherman.. but.. the main question is... is this wheel safer at the end of the day for users than the others you have found issues with from begode..

Is it not just a case of guilt by association, so far? I get that the BMS could certainly be improved in terms of safety, but the simple truth is that ALL wheels containing Li-ion batteries are potential fire hazards, and the bumps and bangs that our wheels can and do suffer only serve to increase the risks. If you ride carefully and don’t risk pilot and machine on full send races, jumps and tricks, the risk of crashes and associated fires should be minimised, though NO wheel containing these cells is truly, 100% safe. The only totally safe EUC wheel is the one you don’t buy.

What is really the problem with storage man? You said that BMS has built in short-circuit protection. Why the concern about the fire? I don't get it. OK the batteries are connected in parallel but it can only be a problem if those wires are damaged while riding (very smart chance) but no fire because of that. If you have Inmotion V12 it is 1000x more chance that you will die while riding because of their poor mosfets :-D

I emailed alienrides about the battery safety of this wheel vs other begode wheels. I was told that most of the problems came from pulling to many amps through 2 packs in parallel. This one has 4. I want this wheel, but I live in an apartment so I have to consider something else. Also, the balance compared to the veteran sherman has been an issue with some people, the sherman having the better balance.

Can't be sure. Keeping in mind that abrams is quite shitty qualify wheel, there is a big chance that sherman max will be downgrade in qualify as well
