I used to stock up on stuff, but even when deeply discounted, it still takes up space and represents money and time occupied with buying, storing, sorting, etc. I've been married 25 years, and I've learned less is more, and that less stuff means greater efficiency in cleaning and budgeting. It's all personal preference, in the end. But seeing your video reminds me of me 15 years ago, and standing on this side of it I would never go back to that way of life. I don't miss having a closet full of cleaning supplies and toiletries because I look at the concept of frugality and savings in a different way these days. In fact, I delight in empty drawers and shelves. Good for you for working on clearing stuff out and organizing; keep it up!

I really struggle with understanding the compulsion of turning one's home into a storage unit. Excess toiletries/cleaning supplies doesn't make any sense to me, especially in homes that lack sufficient storage to begin with. No one needs 10 years of cleaning supplies and toiletry on hand at one time. The quality of the products degrade over time and she could pair it down to 1 of the 4 stack storage shelves for what they ACTUALLY use..
@katiecommon36145 жыл бұрын
@@AB-ol5uz I think some people think they are saving money by buying things with coupons, but they would save the most money by not buying the products at all. Laundry detergent=make your own. Dryer sheets=dont need. Commercial cleaners=use water and vinegar. Body washes= use bar soap. Paper towels= cut up old towels and launder when needed. Coupons encourage wasteful hoarding.

yes to a certain extent but this day and age you still have to have a well-stocked house I would say a year worth of food are year, worth of water for everybody in your family in case of nuclear war or any other issue flood whatever you still have to have items to cover those issues but otherwise yeah you don't need a year worth of clothes and you don't need! you know yeah you probably do need a year worth of cleaning supplies in case one of those things happen you never know but otherwise there's other ways you can minimize and still be safe for your Loved ones!!

I tend to keep one extra of each thing under the sink. That way if I run out, or a little one decides to pour it out, etc, I have a spare. This is only for toiletries and cleaning supplies. It sucks buckets running out of swiffer wet mop refills halfway through cleaning the floors, lol! So one tote of spare cleaning supplies, and one small basket of spare toiletries. When I toss an empty, I add it to the list to restock my single spare.

With children I don’t want to be a minimalist. I don’t think people understand this whole “konmari” it’s like if you don’t throw everything away and have zero left over you’re not decluttering enough. My house has been like this for almost 3 weeks now and none of the spaces I have decluttered are bad. It’s working out great for me. Thanks so much 💕

Minimalism is the art of not being able to bullshit yourself with your justifications. People can explain all day why their purchases are warranted, why their houses are full, and online strangers will agree. But when you go home and your cupboards are bursting, you honestly know it's not because of lack of space, it's because there's just too much crap.

I try and get rid of things when no one is home. They don’t realize that it’s gone. But then I come across a memory and I fall apart. That’s all it takes and I throw in the towel. Kristen you have done a great job. Your children are young so you can place things in a great place. Keep inspiring all of us. Yay on the potty training too! I have 6 children all grown but started over 3 years ago, thank goodness they are potty trained. Thank you for your beautiful smile.

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. My oldest daughters dad passed away almost 5 years ago. It’s still so heartbreaking. We have a lot of his items and a couple things that were made or he gave to Scarlet before he passed. Let them keep those items no matter how hard it is. I have totes of items that belong to Scarlet of her dad and I figure those are hers and she can do what she wants with them when she gets older. I don’t find that hoarding what so ever. Memories are hard. Keep up those smiles for those grand babies they need you 💕💕

I see this video is over a year old and wonder how it has been keeping up with your spaces now that you decluttered and organized so much? It feels so good to take time for it even though we can dread it in the moment.

Wish i had an American house, everything has a place or room. Looks easier and enjoyable to do housework. Having space to sit and sort washing and places to put clothes away. That a dream.

I miss my kids being that little. They were the best helpers! Teens suck lol.... its awesome that you are teaching her to do this kind of stuff at such a young age! It's an important life lesson that so many of us never get taught and these days, so many kids are not taught anything important like this. 2 thumbs up! To all parents who are still actually parents! You and your daughter are adorable and this video is what I needed to get my booty off the couch and pitching lol thank you!

This folding method has saved my life lately. My oldest daughter used to tear her drawers apart looking for things. She’s 8 and she even told me she liked her things folded like this way better. It’s helped so much

Hi again Kristen. I'm still watching your video. You're doing your bedroom. Your dog came in & went to the right. I think your daughter was looking for him/her because she left the room a couple of times & then when she came back in the bedroom, she took a right. She found the dog. How cute!! 🐾🐾☺☺

Boy you tackled alot... great effort and I'm sure you feel so much better now... we're dealing with the garage and that's been over a few days already. It's amazing how much we can accumulate over time and then let it pile up. As I was getting rid of stuff in the garage things from 10 years ago already (time moving fast) I thought why haven't I tossed this or donated that when I had moved it to the garage to begin with🤔... not even counting stuff that actually belongs in the garage... that now needs to go too🤣🙃! Congrats on all your achievements... you deserve a break♡ thanks for being transparent, a motivator and an inspiration all in one♡ sweet blessing and fabulous job🍃💖🍃

Hi Kristen! ☺ I'm watching & enjoying another one of your videos - Cleaning, Organizing & Decluttering. You have a little helper! She is adorable! I agree with you, I'm not a Minimalist either. I believe things should be enjoyed during our lifetime, especially the sentimental ones (like your Grandmothers cookie cutters). I have my Grandmothers metal ones too! 😄 We will be Minimalists when we expire. 😢 I know that your dog will be extremely happy when you finish that downstairs closet. He/she was intently watching you from behind. I think he/she thought that you were moving. Pets don't like moving! 😞 Happy Cleaning!! Happy Organizing!! Happy Decluttering!! Happy Videoing!! ☺☺😎😎
