For the cabinet door adjust the hinges with screw driver it will help it close or put magnets on the frame and inside the door.

Easiest and cheapest fix is a $2 pack of hinges and replace the hinges altogether that way you fix the issue and get rid of the paint crusted hinges all in one shot

This is truly inspiring. I was horrified in the beginning with scraping & scraping 🤣 Then sadly, the deal with your eye, I hope that situation clears up! Definitely a learning experience. I love your color choice. The only thing I didnt like, was the choice to put your silverware exposed to the elements in that cup. Other than that fantastic job!

Every rental has their own rules as to what they allow and in the video I stated that my building is now redoing all the old kitchens for new renters so my kitchen will be replaced anyways when I leave. Always ask your building what they allow older buildings are more OK with you changing things up.

Hey quick tip! I'm a DIY-er also, and I had a cabinet in my bathroom that wouldn't close no matter what I did like yours. Here's the fool proof fix: pick up a $2 pack of hinges from Walmart and change the hinge. The hinge is the problem. It's super cheap and takes about 10 minutes (if that) to install! Also- I'm a Virgo too and I feel your pain! I'm an all or nothing person also lol! Its a blessing and a curse!

For future....Citrus Strip is excellent for stripping paint. You could also use a heat gun. They might rent them at Home Depot or Lowes.

Home Depot should most likely have some to rent, but unfortunately Lowes doesn’t do tool rentals (they do have carpet cleaner rentals though lol). Citrustrip is great also makes it much easier

You can use either a magnet or velcro to keep that cabinet door closed

About that one cupboard door that won't close. I reccomend installing those magnet closers seen on most older cupboards. The magnet will hold it closed.

Sanding those cabinets even with the paint on it would probably been ten times easier. It turned out amazing regardless though!

I actually tried but because of how much paint was on it, when I would sand it that would cause the paint to kind of melt and peel off (not exactly melt but I don’t know how to describe it, it’s just the type of paint they use kind of peeled and was plasticky) so it actually just looked worse. that’s why I try to strip it. I even tried using my sander but because my place doesn’t have the best ventilation it just didn’t work out.

You can also use both the chemical and the sander. In this case, I feel the chemicals are fine as long as the area is well ventilated. But I would have sanded after for sure.

That is a good idea. The issue was actually that the plates were too big for the cabinet. These weren’t standard side cabinets for some reason so the door wouldn’t close because of that.

Hello thanks for commenting. I’m not sure if you watch the whole video through or read my comment section, but this video gives renters ideas and tips and tricks that they can do for yourself. obviously every apartment is different as you said “some” may make you pay mine for instance does not, as I said in the video. As well as if you put the peel and stick over your cabinets as I did and paint over them then that protects your cabinet doors. It’s completely Renter friendly and you can remove it and your cabinets are intact. Obviously every rental is different speak with your building management or your landlord. obviously not every tip is going to work for everyone but I tried to share what I did for mine and stated in the video what exactly is rent your friendly and what is not. hopefully you found some tips that can help. ☺️

You should always disclose/talk to your building/Landlord because every rental has different rules. some may have already discuss/Disclosed do’s and don’ts in your lease beforehand, and if they did not you could bring it up to them that you want to update your place. If you live in an older unit most buildings are OK with it but always talk to them first.

Also if they say you’re not allowed to paint your cabinets you can always just put peel and stick wrapping your cabinet doors and then painting that so then your cabinets are intact and there is no damage done to it and you can remove it when you leave.

It is renter friendly. In the video, I stated what renter should do and what I am doing because I’m allowed to do to my rental. For instance, you do not need to remove the paint from your cabinets. You skip that stuff and just use the contact paper that I put on my cabinets That’s completely renter friendly. I just wanted to be smooth because I was allowed to do so for example the backsplash stated to use the peel and stick tile that I used in my bathroom, but I was trying some thing out in this one so I made sure to emphasize what is renter friendly vs what I am doing and what You should do. In my videos I like to make it clear as to what products work don’t work and what would be classified as renter friendly. If you were to just ignore me painting and trying to remove the paint, everything else is renter friendly. Like how I did the floors, the countertops, the cabinets. And even making minor changes like changing out the cabinet knobs.

I’m a renter and getting ready to redo mine and I’ve never done the peel and stick flooring. I’ve been showering the Internet trying to figure out if I can put peel and stick directly on ceramic tiles or not and it still be renter friendly. Can you tell me where and what you bought to put down under the floor tiles?! Help!
