Hi Annie. I actually purchased about 400 1/4 in wood dowels but when I put laid them on the drawer fronts to see how they would look, they were simply too big and did not resemble the inspiration dresser. I was therefore "doomed" to use the 1/8 inch dowels. While it took a lot of work I was certainly happy with the outcome.

Hi just found your channel and am in joying seeing your process, I’m a painter decorator and also do some furniture restoration when I have the time. Next time you have paint stuck in your grain try and match your raw timber colour with paint, then paint the top again and then re strip the paint. The new paint soaks into the grainy parts and hides it. Have fun 😊

Your piece, for me, far nicer than the C&B piece, which looks so, well, C&B. The glaze is smashing and your command of the brushes and sponges gives such a satisfying finished look, just as you had in mind. When you first showed the dresser I wondered where you found that amazing veneer; then you did the dowels and I thought you were a bit nutty! 😉😊. I admire your patience. It looked so tedious to do I fast forwarded a bit! I love the simplicity and clean design of the dresser-it looks like a Shaker design except for the pulls. Your pulls were very harmonious and had a nice clean look. You could use the dresser as a buffet. There’s tons of storage in the drawers for placemats and napkins and whatever. Kudos to you for drawing on your inspiration piece to creat such a useful and beautiful piece. My guess is that people will ask you what store you bought it from.

He there! I just got one of those mitre trimmer thingys to make some decorative storage for my thread, (it’s going to be a thread wall). Anyway, I have seen other makeovers like this and I haven’t yet seen anyone as picky as I am, haha. I mean until you doing this and getting that paint color right. That is so me! I also can’t believe I’ve never seen anyone use paint cans to keep the dresser off the ground. (I’m converting to that asap). Now I’m motivated than ever to do one of these. Can I ask, is the variation in the shade/depth of color of the dowels merely from the angles they are lying? You said you only used clear varnish on top. That is so amazing! Your design and the entire dresser, the result, beats the pants off the crate and barrel one. Thanks so much for sharing so thoroughly your process. I just subscribed too. Take care, Mary

Hi Sew Etra. Glad you liked it. The color variation in the wood dowels was just how they came from the company. However, if you look at the video can will see that they do change in the depth of their color when I walk from left to right. It is due to how the light is affecting the wood dowels. Thanks for watching!!!

@FurnitureFlippingForProfit2 жыл бұрын
Hi Liz. I agree that the wood grain was really beautiful on the top of the dresser. The rest of the dresser was not oak veneer so the grain was not very outstanding. I do not think it would have looked cohesive if I had left the natural grain from these 2 woods showing via a stained finish. There were many ways it could have been refinished/restyled but I wanted it to look like the inspiration dresser so I had very few options. Thanks for watching!!!

That's beautiful and you could probably sale it for $2000 with all the work you put into it and money you spent on it. You should buy/find your own furniture and make over pieces to sale in a business or just on the side for extra money. You are very talented and creative. I have a piece of furniture that I found that I don't know what to do with it. It's victorian and had four layers of paint on it, and no back. I've been scraping paint off of it for weeks now and I still can't get it all off. It's solid wood and has good bones, I just am wondering if I should paint it, or keep scraping and stain it.
@FurnitureFlippingForProfit2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I refinish furniture and sell it for a profit. I would use stripper on it to remove the paint. I believe it is easier and takes less time AND does a better job getting the finish out of cracks and crevices. Watch one of my restoration videos to see how I strip furniture. Thanks for watching@
