Just found you guys, you are amazing and brightened up my day. Had bad hips for 20 years, doctor sent me to gynaecology, endocrinology now waiting to see a neurologist. Physio just gave me exercises which made it worse. I can't queue, my hips start burning. If you could see me now, wrapped up in an infrared pad I learnt from another of your videos which I nearly wiped out my desk as forgot I was plugged in. Anyway tried it on the stairs swinging my leg and what a relief, pain gone and while I was watching the video I had your pad on my back and my back feels so much better. You are brilliant, thank you so much, you have done for me in a few minutes what doctors only gave me pain killers for 20 years. And you made me laugh x

Often a little self help or help from a friend is better than a visit to a doctor. I prefer not to take medication unless there is no other alternative. Changes in diet and exercise routines are often sufficient. Americans are over-medicated, overcharged and often neglected by overbooked medical professionals.

I'm only 13 but my hip hurts so badly. I can't walk, I can't stand up, I can't sit down, I cannot do anything without there being an immensely painful feeling in my left hip/lower back. This just randomly started when I woke up yesterday and I think it has something to do with the fact that online school requires me to sit for nearly 6 hours a day. Either way, this is only the second day that this has been happening and I can't take it anymore. I can't even crawl to my room at this point. Can you help?

arfan r I ended up getting a 3T MRI and have a tear in my labrum and some abnormal bone growth that may be irritating me. We’re trying to make me a symptomatic at PT mainly strengthening my glutes and loosening my muscles with a lacrosse ball and dry needling. I’ll get tested in a few weeks to see if I’m a good candidate for surgery or not. Hope yours resolves! Laying down made it easier for me also.

Deer in Headlights Good to hear, I think I may also hire a PT when this lockdown is over. I’ve been watching videos on KZbin to strengthen my hips and glutes (mostly from a KZbin channel called Upright Health) and the pain has definitely become more manageable. Walking still hurts but I feel I am improving. God willing this time next year both of us will be pain free 🤲

For me, it was the psoas muscle that was extremely tight, pulling my hip ball into my socket creating a stabbing pain. Having someone pull my leg was a temporary relief. The fix was using a wooden multi positioning tower which can be found here on KZbin. Wish I had found it 13 years ago. Even after my hip resurfacing was done, the pain continued which stumped surgeons all around the US. I went to Europe as well. The positioning tower causes your psoas muscle to lengthen over time. Stretching the psoas will not work. Muscles are like rubber bands, they come right back which is why you'll only get temporary relief. The tower is 120 bucks but it can change your life. I used it once and all of my hip pain released. I still use it about once or twice a week as my psoas slowly tightens from the 13 years of being tight from a core muscle injury that mesh was used to fix it (mesh has been removed). I even had a psoas lengthening surgically done which didn't help. 4 hip surgeries and 2 groin surgeries. The tower made the most difference.

Revisiting these guys due to hip pain from a tennis injury preventing me from bending over properly to tie my right shoe. A few years ago I was suffering from sciatica that was both shocking (that I had it) and debilitating (I could barely get out of bed in the morning - took 5 minutes of pain and weird sliding off the bed) - I tried virtually EVERYTHING I could until I ran across a video these two had that explained that sometimes lower back strain and pain can come from TIGHT HAMSTRINGS. I'd started, 6 months before, running and walking to get back into shape and I was now in excellent shape and my now 'muscular' hamstrings started tightening up! These guys saved me, and I'll forever be a fan because of it. One hamstring stretcher later and within a day or so I was 100% back to normal. Never been so relieved :-D. Fingers crossed on the hip pain, lol... LOVE THESE GUYS!

What if your hip pain is the exact opposite? I was initially hanging my leg trying to loosen my lower back (which I thought was the issue), but it cause extreme pain through my groin. Core strengthening helped a lot. Now it feels best via stretching and when I do weight bearing exercises. For instance, picking up something heavy and walking with it will give me temporary relief. But seems as I do too much, then it is sore all the time from overwork. Take too much rest, pain from not enough use (I suppose). Can't seem to find the right amount of work and stretching to b completely pain free.

@@Emma-pl9gt - After 3.5 years of total issues, in August 2022 I was told I was bone on bone. My Physical Therapist told me that I would never be pain free through PT and it would not heal.....I needed to get a Total Hip Replacement (THR). I looked into THR and didn't like several things about it. Through more research I discovered Hip Resurfacing, an alternative to THR with MANY benefits over THR. Long story short, I just got my Hip Resurfaced 5 weeks ago by one of the leading surgeons in the world in the procedure. I flew across the country to have him do it rather than get a THR. Instantly the hip pain itself was gone after surgery and the recovery from the surgery itself has been very rapid with noticeable improvement EVERY single day. By 4 weeks I have nearly full range of motion (which you would not even dare try with THR), and if it weren't for a little sciatic issue I had developed prior to surgery (from being so sedentary) I think I'd have no pain at all since 4 weeks. I walk now 1.5 miles each day with a single crutch (went from two crutches to one on weeks 3) and I will be crutch free next week (week 6). Then I will rebuild my strength and stamina and get back to my lifestyle I had before the hip issue. Soooo glad I got the surgery. If I wasn't a good candidate for Resurfacing I would get the THR because it would allow the same pain free life just with certain limitations. Resurfacing simply offers the ability to return to ANY activity you want after a year. Emma, find out if you are bone on bone? If so, get surgery. I do not know a single person who got THR or Resurfacing who regrets it. I wish I could have gotten it sooner or known I was bone on bone sooner.

Sandra Douglas I have hip trochanteric bursitis. My very good orthopedic surgeon said such a surgery is very last resort, is a very long and grueling recovery/rehab and sometimes does not relieve the pain. He strongly advised against it. I’ve had 4 of those injections. They are BRUTAL when the steroid starts going into the bursa sac! Only one of them ever gave me any meaningful relief. Now the bursitis is so bad and tender that I also have some numbness in my right foot from it.

@@maggiesigala2980 - Did they do any imaging at all? I just had surgery on my back as I had a terribly herniated disk that was pushing on nerves (including sciatic) made it agony to move. But the pain was predominantly in my left hip. It took a long time for the surgery because of what my insurance made me do. They approved a CT scan and that will tell them if you have arthritis or a labral tear. An X-ray would also catch arthritis. If the CT scan doesn’t show anything, you may have a spinal issue and would need an MRI. Has your orthopedic guy sent you for PT? He should. Ice is great, but it’s a band aid. My whole issue originated from an old traffic accident for which I didn’t seek care at the time. I was young and thought I could handle it. But I had issues with my back of hips ever since. Anyhow, keep pushing them. You need imaging to see what’s going on.

At the worst times I use furniture to lean on and move from area to area in my home. I haven’t started using a cane yet. On the days they don’t hurt they don’t even have a hint of where the pain usually is. It’s unpredictable. I’m 65.

And sometimes while walking ,when I step it hurts so much there and I keep my foot off the ground for 1 minute or 2 ,then it disappears. And in winters after taking a bath I feel stabbing pain in both hip joints. The pain also occurs when I do jumps like skipping or any other high impact exercises. I don't know what is wrong.

On the third exercise that you guys showed, I have actually taken a small inflatable ball, slightly smaller than a volleyball or a rolled-up towel in equivalent size approximately 8 inches in diameter. I place the ball as high in the crotch area is I can get it, and then I place a weight on the outer part of the leg while laying on my side. So if I'm on my right side and it's my left hip that's bothering me, I put the ball high in the crotch, and a weight on the outer part of the left knee creating a sort of leverage situation and that helps open up the hip.

@LoveABun
@LoveABun 4 жыл бұрын
Kathy Rich I’ve had it for 3.5 years. I’m 61 and female. I’ve gotten 4 steroid injections (1 each appt) directly into the hip trochanteric bursa over a 3 yr period by a very good orthopedic surgeon. Only 1 of the injections gave me any meaningful relief (several months). The last one I got did nothing, which makes no sense to me. The bursa is so swollen it’s painful to the touch. The doctor presses on it and I practically jump off the table from the tenderness. The injections themselves are tremendously painful because the long needle has to go deep to reach the bursa sac, so I’ve not gone back for a 5th one. I also worry about the effect of the steroids on the hip bone over time. Ice does not help me. The bursitis is now causing sciatica down my leg on the same side, causing my right foot to have pins and needles. I’m guessing the swollen bursa is pressing on a main nerve that goes down into my foot. Ibuprofen will help relieve the pain and numbness for awhile, but it then comes right back. It’s hell. I can’t walk for exercise because it causes the pain to flare worse. BTW, my hip has been xrayed and the surgeon says it looks good for my age. No arthritis. So this is strictly a problem with the bursa. A very good PT told me that stretching the IT band that runs over the trochanteric bursa really doesn’t so much. Sorry to be so negative. If you find relief, please let me know. Tiger Balm Lotion and hot baths with Epsom salt help me the most but only temporary.
