My motto is “if it doesn’t have a home, it needs to go” so anything that doesn’t have a place I donate or trash. It’s helps with the clutter tremendously!!!!! And I keep a basket on the bottom stair, anything that needs to go up we put in the basket, then at the end of the night when I go upstairs I take it with me, empty it, then take it back down in the morning. Works wonderfully!

Don't know if you have one already or not, but for your mail, it's definitely a great idea to invest in a paper shredder. Gives me peace of mind knowing it's shredded in case someone EVER goes through my trash.

I’m a neat freak. It’s both a blessing and a curse lol. I have zero clutter basically in my house, and I dunno if this is a good thing, but getting rid of things doesnt bother me at all…like ever. I actually find it therapeutic to purge things. I don’t hold onto things, or toys or clothes that are broken or I don’t use. I purge once in the winter and once in the Spring, and small purging goes on throughout the year here and there as needed. It makes it so that things never pile up and get overwhelming. I love seeing others declutter, it’s so cool to see how a space transforms:)

Great job! I'm on an ongoing decluttering journey. Trying to stay on top of things and declutter e.g. my kids' clothes as they grow out of them. It has brought a lot of peace of mind but it sure is some work, too. With kids it's like a job, getting new things for them as they grow, while getting rid of the old ones.

Another thing to try in reference to the basket you mentioned is to make a habit that you never leave a room without taking something that belongs to the next room! It’s not the easiest to implement consistently, but at least making yourself mindful and putting forth the effort will help! It’s totally changed the way I do things! I won’t leave my kitchen without taking something that belongs to my room (or wherever it belongs) and it’s made a huge difference! So if I walk from the kitchen to the living and something in the kitchen belongs specifically in the living area, I take it with me! Another thing I’ve started doing is putting things up where they go immediately. I know it sounds hard, but honestly it’s erasing a step for yourself later! I used to drop my shoes at the door when I walked in, only later to have to go back and put them where they belong. Now when I come in, I take my shoes off and pick them up to be taken to my closet! Simple, mindful steps like that really help. Involve your kiddos if you can! It took me a while to get going, but now that I have, HUGE difference in my day to day tidying! ☺️

Kayla, I got this idea from my sister-in-law . I bought a pretty brown ( to complement the colors in my kitchen ) French bulletin board (prettier than corkboard etc.) that you can tuck pretty invitations i.e. baby shower,wedding,bridal shower or any party behind ribbon. Hang it on wall behind "Command Central ) Definitely buy an upright stand to slide bills etc. in. Just keep return envelope and receipt NOT the entire piece of mail (too bulky ) and keep in chronological .Maybe that could even go on Joseph's desk. Even if you pay the bills his desk doesn't have a lot on it and it can help clean that area clear.This may sound odd but anything taller than your tallest counter top ( i.e. the blender ) should be below cabinets or wherever they fit. Your kitchen will look even NEATER if you can't see anything sticking above the top counter (breakfast bar top) !!

Do you know about "The Minimal Mom" on KZbin? She gives such amazing perspective on clutter and "just in case items". My favorite piece of advice from her is this idea of inventory and mental to-do list. It may change your perspective of keeping items just because you already spent money on it, " IN CASE" you might need it for the future. She also has a kids toy series - and my take away from that is, if YOU'RE overwhelmed with your kids toys, that almost always means your kids are too. I've paired down the items of toys for my kids and I noticed that they play longer, by themselves and are much more creative.

I LOVE these types of videos but never really manage to get up and declutter my own house.. haha! We are moving soon though so that will be my chance to do a really big declutter so we do not bring the clutter to our new home! I am a new subscriber and have really been enjoying your content. Thanks for the decluttering inspiration! Spring is coming soon so it’s a good time to organize and declutter. My closet is probably the most needed area 🙈 The KZbin channel DoItOnDime has great videos on organizing and decluttering if you want to check it out. A tip I learned is to keep the kids cups and plates easily accessible to them by putting them in a lower cabinet. My 3 year old can just grab her bowl or plate if she needs a snack and feels proud of herself as well. I still have to help her get the snack lol but it’s one less thing to do. 💕

My philosophy as far as keeping my house simply neat is " A place for everything and everything in it's place " !! The key is you MUST spend 10-15 mins every day returning everything TO it's place. However ,you really do need to declutter to make room for ESSENTIALS. We NEVER let mail (paper ) stay in the house. Read and throw away mail daily and newspapers . . .etc. RECYCLABLE bin !!! Good Luck !!

Paper clutter is SATAN. It’s what I’m struggling with the most. After that’s it’s the kitchen cabinets 😥 On a side note, if you want a way to hold that iPads up without taking up too much space you could try a napkin holder. That’s what I use to hold ours. Thank you so much for this video! Not only did it motivate me to start facing the kitchen and reorganizing it but Joe putting his face in the camera made me laugh 😂 Keep up the great videos 💜

My dining room table is a catch all for clutter. For some reason everything just gets dumped on it throughout the day, drives me nuts!
@snehaharkut67392 жыл бұрын
Nice video. One tip: Assign a place to EVERYTHING.. From pin to paper to pots and pans..every single thing.. And make sure you put everything in its designated place after using it. That way you will not end up with a super cluttered house. Plus kids would get in the same habit as well. In our house we have a rule that kids need to play with couple of toys at a time and keep them back in their places before taking out anything else. Of course they are kids and they still make a mess, but most days they follow this rule which has now become their habit.

You know you can bake with the discard too. There are sour dough buns, pancakes etc recipes. Check out king Arthur baking site or other baking blogs that uses the discard.The recipes are like normal baking recipe and you just add the discard for the amount the recipe says. I make the buns when I have at least a cup of discard. Sourdough starter is a commitment, like a pet, or child, lol. I'm experimenting with dry starters that don't require constant coddling and can be left in the fridge for longer periods without feeding.
