Serral has been in a rut for awhile. Of course, still top aligulac, but lost key games. Didn't even get the invitation for Asus ROG while Clem and Reynor did. But now it seems he's evolving and getting stronger. The insane Maru match, beating Clem recently on ladder using Dark style, and now challenging Trap to lategame pvz. Iirc last time they met, Trap won the series, forgot what tourney it was. Anyway, I'm glad that Serral picking himself up.

I think he still lacks the "consistency" he had during his dynasty but I agree that his visible improvement poses him to be the phenom again. In this game, there are quite a few holes and timings that Trap could have exploited to turn the game around. Back then Serral had none. He literally elevated the meta to new heights with his way of playing.

I love late game starcraft, especially late game with mixed army compositions and non-deathball strategies so this game was a treat. Serral is an absolute monster at all stages of the game but I really felt like Trap had the opportunity to win. I'm no pro or anything but the times where he lacked HTs were just so one sided with late game usually being decided by spellcasters. Furthermore, Trap lost by economic efficiency difference. If he had more static defenses to fall back to then I really feel like Trap would have won or at least wouldn't have lost to draining resources. Or maybe I'm wrong and that shield bats aren't economically efficient enough in large army scenarios and AoEs. Regardless, this game was great and Traps more spread out and mixed map strategies were amazing.

Its been a couple years since I watched Serral but his macro is still incredible. His micro is reminiscent of his matches in 2017 and early 2018 where he struggled to win fights against players like Classic. From what I've gathered it seems Serral has been struggling as of late, but I wonder if it has to do with how he raised the skill ceiling considerably since 2018. If anything, he's always been adaptive in his play and I have a feeling he'll run rampant again in the upcoming year.

It’s not extreme late game. The proper term is End Game, almost all resources exhausted with one mining/available base per side. Just like the Avenger Movie title and Chess.

I think they're allowed? I've seen a match where skins got used. But I've heard that the players get so used to the default skins that anything different messes them up

I think he's more of the saviOr of sc2 minus the match fixing. Jaedong rarely went to super late games back then and when he did he usually lost. saviOr, however, dragged everyone to the late game where he'll just overwhelm them with his macro, just like Serral.

@@fernandoromerogalvan yes in late game not in early and mid. as you can see in the game, the bank of serral gives an idea how efficient the late game. viper's consume from structures to full energy in no time, their abduct is priceless and parasitic bomb is sick to chunky skytoss, add another fungal growth of infestors that can hide below the ground is too much for skytoss. corruptors are cheaper than any skytoss yet effective at air plus it can morph to brood lord. brood lord can automatically produce broodling unlike carrier interceptors you need minerals everytime - not efficient. Only broodlord is slow the rest of the zerg late are fast and skytoss is turtle. Of all late game pvz i've watched zerg wins almost everytime unless protoss caught them off guard but in straight late game skytoss is hopeless. I liked the odds of terran winning zerg in late game tvz but not the protoss. Skytoss is good at midgame for pvz though but when vipers, infestors, corruptors, broodlords and ultralisk kick-in they are low chance of protoss winning.

@@kyouzins that's because it's Serral. And I was surprised he won vs Trap at late game actually. Right now only very very few pros can win vs sky toss at ultimate game. It needs Serral or Reynor or Dark level skills to win zvp vs Sky toss late game. That's why early game rush for zerg are so popular.

Pvz late game is hopeless for protoss? Are you insane? Gateway is the inferior build. So many skytoss just instawin at pro level once the golden armada is up. It needs Serral level skills to win late game zvp against Skytoss.

Serral sleepwalked through the first half of this game, Serral still won easily. PvZ is the most boring match-up in the game, they should rename "Abduct" and "Fungal" to "I Win" and "You Lose."

I defer to disagree. Zerg is better in the late game, serral bank shows it and in almost pvz i have seen in many professional tournaments. Vipers, infestors, corruptors are skytoss killers. no protoss can matched their anti-air and anti-chunky spellcasters. Viper can consume and their energy will be full again in no time while protoss is regenerating their shields.

@@cugamer8862 unless zerg won't counter skytoss by spellcasters then protoss is favoured in the lategame - I agree. Also skytoss is easy to handle but zerg has better late game arsenal to counter skytoss in the lategame. even terran battlecruiser with yamato and tactical jump is good counter until the tempest is out but still ghost has EMP is sick for chunky skytoss armada.

Why? Trap down in supply and no money, disadvantage in resources lost, but still killed Serral's army and burned through remax. If this was lesser Zerg pros, they won't be able to handle lategame pvz.

These uneinnable matches for the Protoss sucks. I am tired of seeing the cockroach race as the most powerful. In ac2 they need to have the mothership black hole back along with dark archons to balance out the game. I don’t like how developers made it song the Zerg is thestrongest race despite them storyline being the weakest and Protoss the strongest , I don’t care what the masses off Starcraft fans say. they should definitely make the Protoss stronger. Starcraft should never go the wwe approach.
