I used the extreme segregation strategy on this week's challenge, and it *really, really worked* ... the key was not to connect too many houses to a shop. There were a few times when I only survived by the skin of my teeth, but I got through to about 4,000 journeys and every single shop had a timer going ... *but then it reached equilibrium.* Every shop had just enough houses connected to it to hold steady with the demand, the map was largely full (and no more space for shops) ... and it just ran and ran. At that point, I just sat back and then every week hit a button to get the next week's road tiles. OK, I did a little bit of tweaking, in particular disconnecting a few houses that were connected to the wrong road network to avoid crossroads, _reducing_ the number of houses connected to a few shops where they were suffering from congestion, but apart from that, nothing. The weeks went by, the journeys clocked up. I had about 60 houses that were not connected to a shop of their own colour, but that was fine. Every shop was constantly pinging timers, but the red dial was never going above the three-quarter mark on any of them. At Week 139, I stopped getting offered roundabouts and bridges (I had used all 9 motorways, I had 29 roundabouts in the bank and one on the map, 25 bridges in the bank and 6 on the map, and 60 traffic lights all of which were in the bank) and just got a stack of road tiles every week ... but annoyingly, I still had to keep clicking to accept so I couldn't just leave it to its own devices. At Week 225, I was getting bored so I connected about 8 more houses into one double-shop and sure enough, within 3 weeks the extra traffic had caused gridlock and those shops blew up. My final score was *172,418* and that didn't involve any trickery, just extreme segregation and supply management ... and if I hadn't got fed up of pressing 'next' every couple of minutes and had found a way to just let it run without my intervention then it would have continued racking up 950 journeys a week _forever._

Each time you reconnect a motorway, you interrupt the traffic on it (cars can't start to use the new route until others stop using the old one). #Tip 1. Make the turns as smooth as possible .90° turns slows up . So a diagonal 45° connection will make cars come and go faster . And a circular smooth turn makes them go faster more distance . So a round smooth turn is equal to a sharp 45° or 135° turn . But faster than a 90 ° turn . Use round abouts at sharp turns if you have spare enough of them . 2. Do not let an intersection open up to 4 ways . Keep it at max 3 ( 45 * 3 = Y shape or 180 + 45 = y shape . ) . Best is 2 . For house that spawn behind another one make a trapezium type connection . Dont make a < or > or ^ or v shape connection Rather try to make it \__/ such shape . Dont open a intersection just infront of a house . They will come out slow . 3. If the home clusters of the same color are in radial arrangement , Use a round about to connect the houses at the entrance of a motorway road or bridge . Use all 8 inputs to a round about if possible . Giving every house a independent entry . If more houses then make pairs of homes connect to the inputs so that we dont break the max-3 intersection rule. If LINEAR arrangement . Go with a straight line with houses connecting the road at 45 ° ( no perpendiculars . Avoid them as much as possible .) 4. Towards the end of the game . Every IMAX cinema will need 4 homes if close enough and 6 homes if far away . 5 . In the beginning if possible try not to use bridges and tunnels specifically . Make as long roads as possible . During the end you can make long connections using single tunnel or bridges Since a bridge is just road tiles , they can be as long as you want as long as they are in water but they dont intersect . If your waters are not much busy or clustered with small little bridges . You can make a bridge behave as a railway line or expressway . And that's all . Have a great day ❤️❤️

The benefit of the traffic light is that all the cars obey the 4-way stop rules of coming to a stop before advancing. Traffic light makes them keep going at speed when they have the green light. It can help speed up high traffic intersections.
@stevieinselby3 жыл бұрын
If you're going for extreme segregation then you don't really need traffic lights _or_ roundabouts, because you have so few intersections and they are only dealing with a low volume of traffic, that they can cope with standard priority rules.
@5353Jumper3 жыл бұрын

Basically they slow down traffic a little bit so that everything in the center like roundabouts and intersections don’t get deadlocked as quickly. They aren’t too great when they are connected with a driveway, they are good for a cross road early game, but late game it should be a roundabout. If there is a crossroad very close to the supermarket, a traffic light is your only option

@TrimutiusToo3 жыл бұрын
Yeah after reaching around 1500 you cannot touch motorways anymore, because that just loses you the game... so keep a spare motorway if you want to reroute one, build the reroute first and then remove the old one (you can delete motorway by right clicking one of the ends of it) though deleting motorways is also not recommended for the same reason because people stop coming to shops but you cannot build it back at all so it is even worse than just moving it...
@perj66283 жыл бұрын
Hi, it seems like all toutubers learn about segregation and thinks this is the only solution. Id like you to try another strategy. I mean, use segregation where it makes sence, if a store has multiple house next to it, go for segregation. But for the long distance roads, how about a ring road or something? Dont connect a store or house directly to a main street. Try to make roundabouts to enter or exit the ring road. Im not sure if you ever get enough road tiles to pull this off, but diagonals doesnt seem to make sence in neighborhoods, since you then can possibly get 7 houses to enter a single road tile. More square roads would prevent that. Another thing about ring roads, you can then use highways to bypass the entire "inner" city if some houses needs to go across the map. But that also means that more houses could use a single highway. Using a highway for only a couple of houses seems like a waste. Also Im interested in the traffic lights. Can they be used to prevent cars from choosing a certain road? If a house has the choice of two equally long roads, and one of the options has a traffic light, will they choose the other road? This could then save a shop in the inner city if there is a longer outer option to choose from for the other cars. But the game goes so fast, and it is alot of rng involved. So i get the confusion, and love it. Please keep up the videos. Youre doing great!

dont be afraid of optimising roadways to make the journey as short as possible as its travel time that will kill you. like the gray imax at 10:14 the top building could have a diagonal straight to it and have the other gray sliproad into it meaning it would be able to handle the imax itself for a bit longer.
