Seeing the stands at a very good count, hearing John Bandimere's comments, singing our National Anthem as the sky diver drifted in circles above the track with our beautiful Flag unfurled in all her glory and the sound of two slingshot, 'digger' AA/FD dragsters fire up their nitro burning, fire belching monster engines knowing that was the last race at that legendary racetrack,, I ain't gonna lie, all of it kinda choked me up.......

it gave me goose bumps watching this video, i havent raced Blown Alcohol Dragster for awhile, will always remember being in the first pair of cars at the start of an event, your strapped in, your looking down the track , the stands are packed ,your part of the reason thousands of people are there, the national anthem plays, when it finnishes , the crowd cheers , you fire up , do the burn out, and start the event, you never get tired of that. ---- you fellow drag racers know exactly what im talking about. if you have never found yourself in that exact situation , i hope someday you do. Another great Les Mayhew video! The Night of Fire and Thunder event at Bandimere is always off the hook. As mentioned several times, the crowds are amazing. Without a doubt the most people I have ever run in front of has been at one of the many NOFT races I've run. Sure going to miss this track and hope like heck that they get another built!

Been looking for nearly two years for high quality ntro audio for my 10 seat home theatre system. NHRA, of all people, their audio sucks. Even talked to an audio engineer for Fox last year, he claimed they were having 'issues'. Uh no. All this year, the same garbage. This. THIS is an audiophiles nitro lovers dream, don't know what mics you're using but hot damn - more of that in the future please! Gonna have to go through your other clips. FINALLY! Thank You and cheers!! Its sounds so excellent coming through 6 15" multisubs, amazing. Subbed! (forgot to mention, its all the closeup shots and standing at the line ;)

Ironically I worked on the show for NHRA and saw the mistakes they made as far as audio. Part of the reason is FOX sets guidelines for audio levels per channel. I don't have limitation on how loud I can mix the track sounds.

The very definition of irony. Dang. You mentioned the pre determined (low) audio levels, that in a nutshell was what I was complaining about. Force too. The whole goal as per the tv viewers is bring them as close to the real thing as possible. They brag about "11K HP" yadda yadda, how much fuel they use etc.etc. The "cool factor". Yet they take easily the one major factor away from the viewer. The rumbling, blasting "11K" beasts, instead you have that puppet (not Tony) yammering every second of the broadcast, even talking over when the car launches! And mid track! THEN talking more before the finish line!! Morons! And on top, the audio sucks. The result, I quit watching. Thanks for the reply, look forward to your future works. Cheers!

It's awesome to see these TF cars. I remember seeing these at Beach Bend back in the mid/late 80's when I was a Track Rat as a kid. Seeing them on the Mountain is just as cool. To me NOTHING beats sitting under the roof in the stands at Beach Bend tho. It's sad that the sport doesn't have the same following as it once used to and in most cases being ran out on a rail 😢.

The reason NHRA just like nascar are falling on their face....it's not a common man's sport anymore because of all the ass kissing corporate owners and drivers....it squeezes the little guy out. @robertsheppard3011 Fair point, but the reason I didn't refer to the later years was because I was not alive or so young I didn't know what racing was. My knowledge as a kid was The Wide World of Sports and whatever they played on TV. Also as to Nascar, it's also because they are trying to be more like F1 or the like. Not knocking them but they pride themselves as a gentleman driver sport (basically) NASCAR in the day was anything but. Rubbing is racing is a saying for a reason. Dale Sr. I honestly believe would never had been known as the INTIMIDATOR because the rules won't allow for that anymore. That's 1 main reason for NASCAR. Like Bud Light, they forgot where they came from.

These are Nostalgic Top Fuel cars. They are restricted by rules in many ways to keep them "slow". Hardly wannabe cars a 250 to 260mph run is very impressive considering what they have to work with. ✌️

Why is this track closing down is it typical council sell land all around the track for housing development then once there's enough noise complaints they penalise the first person to build when there the tossers sighing off on the first building permit then some tosser decides lets rezone all the land around the race track for housing these wankers do this with all matter of industries airports, race tracks, drag strips, animal feedlots & abattoirs' then want to shut it down. can someone please tell me the real reason it closed please
