As a Bangladeshi I am really honored that tourism increasing but not every local people are good so sometime you faced unpredictable situation like some stuffs over priced charged, finding alcohol, hotel environment and right place for bus stops, train or hotel. Glad you like the people though. And I agree. Most places are unfortunately filthy and chaotic. But there are some specific places in each city where the areas are clean and well looked after. Like some residential areas, parks, resorts and all that stuff. But yeah. Travelling on public transports and trying to get the feel of "real" Bangladesh will always make you feel like it's the most filthiest and chaotic place on Earth unfortunately.

He did entered but they told him not to film which is why he left. Consumption of alcohol is restricted in Bangladesh and only bars with license are allowed to sell any alcohol or the expensive hotels, there's a heavy tax on them as well which makes it expensive. The rickshawpuller took him to one of those underground bars which operates illegally, doesn't pay any tax so they sell cheaper. Which is why they maintain that shabby look so the police doesn't suspect the place.

Later on the rickshaw Kurt himself said "Maybe our rickshaw driver used to be an ex alcoholic, he took me to two and they refused so we're looking for another" this line suggest he wasn't allowed two the earlier two for camera, including the one we saw. If they were robbers and actually wanted, they would have done that by then.

So govt. takes offense against them seriously and punishes the criminals. Probably why the snatchers didn't messed with him. I'm from Bangladesh and I realize how dangerous many places in this video he visited is. For example the railtrack among the slums he walked was one of most dangerous places of the city to walk in, it's literally heaven for drug addicts. Even us locals don't walk on those places but he somehow managed to walk those areas safely. Probably only because he's a foreigner and the snatchers didn't wanted to get into touble.
