Heavy equipment moving things around. Half the guys have hard hats, and there are a lot less men working. Have they really upgraded the operations that much or is it a special act put on to get the West off of their case about pollution and working conditions? The water appears a lot cleaner, and the masses of junk all over the beach have been cleared away. Seems like a lot of more recent videos all show much improved conditions.

always a shame to see a ship being stripped, but pleased to see work shared out to other countries who need it, just a shame working conditions are made a little safer - you got to gasp over health and safety in some parts of the world - isn't it time we helped to create better standards, but then i guess the knock on effect is steel prices would increase, there's a certain irony to it all - i admire these people immensely their ingenuity and tenacity to be so industrious even with basic and old tech, just wish it was all a bit safer

Good to see these guys wearing PPE. They seem to have acquired more machinery and tools. That was a Michigan Loader in one of those scenes. I have broken small boats apart but nothing like this.

Being positive about the pathetic, bare bones level of PPE these guys are utilizing is like applauding a band aid as cure for cancer! Heavy, duty dangerous work of this level requires and vast array of common sense protective necessities which aren't even present. Yes hard hats and reflective vests seem to be plentiful (but not on all as should be the case). Lack if safety footwear was most glaring along with the wrong type of gloves and in some cases, no gloves at all! Eye protection seems to be an item reserved for torch work only! I don't even want to go into how wrong and unsafe that traditional baggy long shirt tail clothing is as far snag and fire hazard! Even the cable/pulley set up to drag larger pieces of ship down lacked barrier protection for the winch operator to shield him from cable snap! If anything this piece stands as a testament to how and why this type of work is cheaper and channelled towards these off shore yards. The human element is an after thought of little importance! One can only imagine what level of pay goes along with these ridiculous, lax safety standards! The soap production was hilarious. Guys cutting and stacking with gloves on and barefoot! Then that fellow with the hand held packaging, sewing device...I can't even when it comes to bit of labour abomination! At the end of the day this has always been the worst factor of capitalism, profit always trumps humanity. I'd love to see some honest figures from the folks at the top the run and profit from these operations. They always lay huge claim to the idea of it being impossible to make money and do any better in regards to human safety, yet in every instance in which they are forcefully required to introduce more safety equipment , the same folks that claimed they can't make money if they have to do more still manage to make a lot of profit!

@@doorag8330 At least they gave PPE some thought. As for the work outfits, those guys get more done in those long tailed shirts and baggy pants than the Average American in our modern work cloths. I saw a video where they were making huge five foot gears for a printing press and they were wearing those long tailed shirts and open toed sandals. You do what you gotta do!

@@pforce9 So much wow! What you present is a mournful lament regarding American workers by celebrating the positive aspects of desperation employment and slave labour tactics. Productivity apparently trumps humanity in your world.

The most obscene thing about this video is that it does not appear to be done by means of secretive hidden cameras or clandestine reporting. That means one can assume the folks that allowed the filming to go on their work places think that the vast array of pathetic level safety standards obvious in the piece actually represent what they consider to be a the positive safety aspects of their operations!!! One shudders at the thought of the amount of even lower substandard safety behavior that most likely takes place when no cameras are around!!! At the end of the day, just more of the kind of human exploitation that is considered state of the art in the third world!!!!
