I just realized in the beginning of the video I said the Record he set was 5.31 seconds in the 1/8 mile. Oops, my mistake I should have read the screen that was right in front of me saying 5.431 seconds. Anyways I hope you enjoyed the video and if you would like to see some more videos in a playlist from Ice Racing events like this just click here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naHIfYWFbK6jic0

That's definitely a awesome way to go drag racing when none of the tracks up north are open. As always be safe 👍

I live only 5 miles from Bear lake by Manwa but I thought they were having snowmobile drags so I didn't go. Maybe next year if they do it again.

Yeah the last two years they invited the Merrill Ice Drag Racing cars to come out to the Snodeo event. Also they have 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, pit bike, and lawnmower races. It is a blast going to that and surprising it has been good weather each year being that it is deep into February.

Thanks Tom. Last time I saw a video at Merrill was when Tony Angelo and Mike Finnegan raced there for an episode of Roadkill (Garage maybe?). Am curious why more cars aren’t 4WD?

Thanks Dan, glad you liked the video. They run a bunch of different classes out at the Ice Drags and they do have a 4wd class but they are not as fast as the Unlimited rear wheel drive class.

Do the ice drags ever have rain delays? I understand if it pouring down and u can’t see squat. But normal light rain or snow?
@tomeighty2 жыл бұрын
This event is always in February in Wisconsin and that is always the coldest month of the year, so the chances of rain would be really low. But yes I've been to the races when it is snowing pretty hard and they race on. The only way they would stop the race if they could not see the end of the track for safety reasons.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT WINTER WAS A "DRAG"🥴

It usually is, ha ha. But if you keep your eyes open you can find some cool stuff to do in the dead of Winter. Thanks for watching buddy.

I would think that oil downs are pretty much a non issue here? I wouldn’t think it would make much difference. That does raise a question in my mind. Do the environmental police make a stink about fluids that will end up in the lake when the ice melts?
@tomeighty2 жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you have to run an engine diaper to race on the lake. But I have yet to see a vehicle dump any kinds of fluid at any of the ice racing I've been to. So I guess it is pretty rare to happen.
