I’ve sold a couple of cars on BaT. I’ve studied the auctions and here’s what I’ve learned. Whatever the bid is at midnight the last day of an auction, expect the final price to be 20% to 50% higher at the end. The average is 30% more. So if you have a $10,000 bid at midnight the day your auction closes, you can expect to get $12,000 to $15,000. The average would be a final price of $13,000. Hope this helps new sellers so you don’t loose your mind on the last day of the auction. And, the final bids always come in during the last few minutes. It’s nerve racking as a seller. But fun too!

Great video. I am a larger volume seller on BaT and can't say enough good things about the site. Ironically, a car I am considering selling on BaT is a '96 mile Roadmaster Estate Wagon. It has 7812 original miles so it will be interesting to see what it sells for when the time comes. I too love watching the last two minutes (which recently for me lasted about 40 minutes).

Thanks for the update glad everything’s going well for you little surprised you sold the Shelby, totally bummed about you getting rid of the SL 55 AMG, I just love those cars and of course I own one, I.m very curious what the electrical problem with the SL’’ there’s a lot of quirks with the R230 dual battery System and I like to keep track of anybody that’s had a problem, by chance was it the fuse under the floorboard on the passenger side? Sure would like to know what the problem was and the fix, I’m sure it’s on your work order, it be greatly appreciated there’s also a unit in the trunk B.C.battery compensator they can have problems it works the dual battery system on the R230 and all the Mercedes dual battery systems, I’m guessing it was one of those 2 common problems, Would love to know, thanks again for your videos, we have a lot in common, but all us Car guys do. Keep up the good work on the videos it’s always nice to hear how another car guys life is going.

I used BAT to sell a car this year and I was very happy with the process and transaction overall. There are always gonna be humans that are different than us and try to do things their way and not ours. They were slow to respond at times but not all the time. But always responded and courteous when we spoke, and they did know their cars. The photographer was a photographer not a "car guy" in my opinion as he asked me to pull my spotless detailed car into a dirt lot and I had to speak up and ask if we could do it MY way. But BAT and their site is very slick, professional and works very well. Their cost was minimal in my mind. I believe it is a great site for some brands and/or types of cars and maybe not the best for others. I honestly felt like I got a lot more for my car on this site than I would have got over say ebay and if I would have sold on autotrader i never would have asked what it sold for. I will give them a solid 2 thumbs up/ 5 stars. And yes the way the auction works watching those closing minutes as a seller is quite exciting. Mine went for an additional 20 min or so for over $25,000.00 more in bids. It was crazy exciting!

I sold a MGB on BaT. It went well and sold for what BaT said it would. I’m still in contact with the buyer from time to time. What I like most about BaT is that the buyers and sellers seem to be vetted. I never felt like I might get scammed.

Just bought a high end Mercedes on BAT from one of the frequent seller who is an independent dealer. Everything seems promising until after i won the bid. BAT immediately pocket the 5% but really did nothing more to help me having a smooth and fulfilled transaction. The indepent dealer seller turned out to be full of shit, filled with attitude, bounced back with a bunch of legal docs designed to protect his ass to make us the buyer sign, took the wire transfer and super irreponsive in terms of ensuring the car being shipped promptly and bugs free. Wish BaT has review features for the buyers to reciew and call out some of these AH sellers just like what Ebay has. I would be really careful using BAT these days as its not a consumer’s protected platform. Its all about maximizing their profits and leaving car enthusiasts out to the wolves.

I just sold my car on BAT. Overall it was very smooth, but you really need to make sure you cover your bases and either address or disclose every minor issue, because someone will ask for it in the comments. They also took over a month from submission before it was listed. Spent $250 on professional photos and they absolutely paid for themselves on the back end. Also, BAT doesn't really help after the fact. Took the buyer over 4 weeks to actually close on the car and pick it up because he was financing it.

I don't know what you have into the Factory Five, but they're going for decent money these days. I sold mine 10 years ago for $20k and pretty much broke even. I do understand that other builds spend outrageous money for expensive stuff. Mine was more of the original formula, taking most stuff from the donor car, then upgrading with used stuff and Factory Five scratch and dent sales at the open house. Anyways, I'd think it would be a good BaT candidate.

Woke whippersnapper X, Z, and A groups don't care about these cars and politicians want "get rid of manual gas powered cars with AM radio." 5. Companies can do no wrong. 6. I have an idea, being a person who will never be rich and is in college debt and doesn't work a good paying job; one who saves money as the only way to skimp past bills, I watch many many vehicles sell for prices out of my budget. I think there should be a new feature that allows us plebians to know what kind of job/business the winning bidders have. Being left out is not fun because of my own personal woes.
