Extremely Rare Lighter Restoration - Soviet Union Era

I restored a rusty and rare Soviet Union lighter. This antique lighter had a lot of rust and broken parts, but with some tlc and time this extremely rare lighter is restored to its former self.

The 50th anniversary of the Revolution was a huge thing for the Soviet regime. I visited the USSR (high school language trip) in 1968 and they spent a lot of money renovating buildings and so on for the anniversary.

I thought the same thing, I was watching patiently, wondering if he had to get the spring in the middle of the piece he had with the tweezers, and pull it all back in one motion as one group, to the pin/screw, and all of a sudden, BAM, the job was done....lol It must have been tough.....

In the most Russian of the Russians - the Hammer and Sickle and on the sides the inscription "GREAT OCTOBER" and on the other side of the date 1917-1967.

В слове "октябрь" последняя буква не похожа ни на "мягкий знак", ни на букву "я". По смыслу "50 лет Великого октября". И кроме того, слово "великий" содержит 7 букв, а надпись на зажигалке содержит 8 букв. На 11:13 хорошо видно надпись. Yes, it says "Great October", but it seems to me that after the " k "in the word" great "there is not the letter" I", but the letter"o". There is either "great" or not in Russian. In the word "October", the last letter does not resemble either a "soft sign" or the letter "I". In the sense of "50 years of the Great October". Nice job1 Suggestion: use scrap leather to firmly hold small metal parts in the vice without damage, i.e., like an old cut-up belt. Then consider Nevr-Dull for cleaning and polishing all metals (& leaving an invisible protective coating). I've been using it for sixty plus years. It even removes road tar without harming the paint underneath!

You are just so amazingly talented in metal and wood shop procedures. Did you ever consider teaching these procedures to young men in a school environment. Like a high school. The teaching profession could use your talent. I took metal shop in school but was taught by the gym teacher who was not very good when it came to actually teaching something really useful. I spent a full semester just making a letter opener. The class was a waste of time. A man of your talents can still teach class as well as do this youtube business. Think about it!!
