OH brilliant, I have baby oil lol, how convenient! Once my fingers toughen up completely to the point where I wouldn't feel a thing when I play, the next day it'll peel off and I despise that! Like, I can finally play without problems but then it peels off the next day and have to build it up again lmaoo.

I started learning guitar this year while working as a dish washer... Yeah that's like the worst combo ever I decided to quit so I could get better at guitar. Terrible job anyway.

Well if ever decide to get back to your old job u could do the baby oil trick. Its especially useful in this day n age where u constantly need to wash ur hands or sanitise them..just a dab of baby oil n u ready to play

Great video. What should you do if the calluses peel off? Do I apply baby oil or is it only to maintain them. I tore my 3rd finger calluses from bending too much. Thanks 👍

Hi. I'm afraid u would hv to build it back again by just playing..Dont be afraid to put the baby oil on while u r in the process as it will help to make sure it builds up evenly..look out of signs of the calluses turning white as an indicator on when to reapply the oil .

I have a SERIOUS question everyone. Iv played and practiced till I have developed some good calluses on my finger tips. But the problem is "NOW" That the tips are flat and cant get a good grip on the strings when bending. They slip through. What's going ON. what am I doing wrong or not understanding.

I would take a break and get them to soften a bit and then start trying to get grooves by pressing your fingers down on the low e string often until your fingers become rough again.

You mentioned lemon oil. It's what I use for my fretboard and it can also be used in place of baby oil, I'm assuming?
@ariffjohanismusic5577
@ariffjohanismusic5577 3 жыл бұрын
Hi bro..Great question: Lemon oil falls into the category of Essential oil which though is used in beauty products in small quantities could be harmful to ur skin when used for an extended period. I use baby oil almost everytime I practice n I'm sure it would be considered as excessive in regards to lemon oil..infact too much lemon oil is actually bad for ur fretboard. U r only supposed to lightly coat the fretboard with it periodically n wipe off any excessive oil that is not absorbed by the fretboard. Baby oil is mineral based so they do not get absorbed as much by the fretboard ! Hope the article below helps www.paulaschoice.com/expert-advice/skincare-advice/ingredient-spotlight/essential-oils-for-skin.html

@@ariffjohanismusic5577 It's Dunlop Ultimate Lemon Oil, which is actually lemon scented mineral oil, and not actual lemon oil. Baby oil is a mineral oil as well, and the Dunlop oil leaves my fingers lemony fresh!
@ariffjohanismusic5577
@ariffjohanismusic5577 3 жыл бұрын
I might be wrong but I always assume Dunlop lemon oil is a mixture of essential oil n some mineral oil like how most lemon oil for wood is mixed. Pure lemon oil is a solvent n is bad for wood. I'm most probably wrong but my logic to this is we want persevere the calluses on our fingers which is made out of skin n wat better would it be with baby oil rather than Dunlops lemon oil that is meant for the fretboard. Im sure u could use the latter but I would reckon former is better.

I think your best bet is to go to your nearest music shop (guitar center) and try out a few guitars and see what feels right in your hands.

Play your acoustic every day use it for practice sessions and have it fitted with at least 0012-0054 gauge strings. If you just play electric your callouses will soften and you'll end up with girl's hands.
