Review and demonstration of Silicone Fingertips Protectors For Guitar Players.
Once I saw guitar meme where was saying: to have calluses on fingertips is better than to use Silicone Finger Guards. So I could not resist to get myself the one to test it and give the answer: are fingertips cover good for playing a guitar?
I've got it on this site - www.tomtop.com/p-i3126.html?a.... And this is an information from from this site:
“Suitable for playing electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classic guitar, bass.
Silicone rubber, soft and durable.
Prevent your fingers being sore for playing long time.
12 pcs in one package, 4 colors and each colors has 3 size (Large, Medium, Small).
Great for guitar players and beginners”.
Don't forget to subscribe, like this video, and make rock not war!

My problem is not that I need to protect my fingers, or that I can't build calluses. but I have nails that grow past my fingers and it is impossible for me to cut them lower than my fingertips.

The thing is if someone needs to play a guitar, but say they just got their finger poked with the point of a razor, and they are healing, then guards are very useful if they want to test out a guitar because they are maybe thinking about getting back into guitar or buying a new guitar. Something that seems unimaginable to you because that's all you do. I built up callouses a long time ago playing guitar, and over time lost my guitar in a house fire and after that the calluses. Years later, I didn't have the same kind of callouses I used to have. And no, callouses are not as easy to form later in life. In order to do that, fingers have to sustain injuries, and heal over and over. By that time, I may have taken this guitar back. Or maybe just given up and go back to keyboard playing as the return window would be closing. finger guards are useful. They aren't meant to be reviewed by a person who has zero use for them as you've done here. Again, Finger guards are for people WITH injuries or for people who want to avoid injuries on fingers about to split on the tips. They were never meant for people to play with them as a way of life

Very entertaining. Good job. My eight year old wants to play guitar. I'm buying him an Ibanez left handed electric with amp and stringing it with nylon. I know finger pain kept me away from the instrument when I was young and I thought that might be the best way for him to work his fingers in...I probably won't use the protectors unless he's having a lot of problem with pain.

I had my middle fingertip smashed badly as a teenager and had the bone chipped inside, so after a while the scar on the tip and interior begin to cause quite a bit of pain. Have tried a small piece of duct tape ( because it fixes anything) and that helped a little. Just need that one help.

Hi Mykola! The silicone protectors are a Godsend for us who have oddly shaped nails (people who have the tips of their nails jutting out further than their fingertips). Back when it wasn't that bad...I didn't have to use any sort of protection (like medical tape) --- but then later found that protecting the skin is just like wearing socks when I wear shoes! I've switched to the silicone thimbles (I've looked them up! And they look exactly the same!) rather than medical tape (as the one I prefer leaves residue). You made the right choice of getting heaps of them rather than just going with one set. It helps to have one of the same kind! For guitarists that don't have issues with their fingertips....it's probably not a good fit (as you have demonstrated when you played your first chord). PS: I still might use medical tape for the bottom part of my pointer finger (for bar chords)....if I'm on the acoustic for a long period of time. I guess I am kind of digging having softer hands! :)))))

This stuff is great for nerve damage too. My fret hand is fine but I have nerve damage in my index picking finger. I switched to learning keyboard/piano when my finger got damaged but I miss playing my guitar sooo much. I'm getting some of these for Christmas. Just don't know if I want the hard plastic ones or silicone ones yet

Thanks for posting. I used to play Bass a long time ago and I wanted to pick up a guitar again recently but I've developed some weird skin excema condition on my finger tips and my finger tips are sometimes peeling and splitting open for no reason, bleeding and very painful to touch - like raw flesh. That's without playing any instruments. I may try these and see if I can play again without being in a lot of pain or making the condition worse.
@johnmcmahon6436
@johnmcmahon6436 5 жыл бұрын
I'd love to know how you got on, as I seemed to have developed a similar condition, even though I don't play a stringed instrument, but rather a keyed one. Sliding wouldn't be a problem for me then, as I would not deviate much beyond my "home" position.
@jackillin
@jackillin 5 жыл бұрын
@@johnmcmahon6436 I've been using O'Keeffe's Working Hands cream along with 'Gloves in a Bottle' lotion obsessively for a few months now as my fingers were pretty bad and it's helped clear up my 1st & middle fingers but my 3rd finger is still shedding skin & a bit raw in patches. I used the finger guard on that particular finger for the first few sessions & it was actually ok. the feeling was fine, the finger guard was soft and not too thick. After a few sessions I tried playing without and it's actually been fine. I think I used the finger guard once since just because that particular finger was flaring up & sore. I've got small calluses on my 1st & 2nd finger now as I'm practicing about an hour a day & those 1st two fingers haven't cracked...I'm pretty surprised. The 3rd finger hasn't developed a callus, it's pretty soft so I'll continue to play as normal & use the finger guard when needed. But over all the guards came in different sizes, just chose the ones to fit ur fingers and they're quite flexible, little grippy bumps on the tips, you can't really feel the string through them but seems no prob to play with them on, feels a bit odd but easy to get used to. I didn't feel inaccurate with my finger placement etc.

One main issue I see is exact placement with strings so small and close together, with it difficult to feel exactly where on the string you are, and accidentally muting neighboring strings. But I wonder if that would be a non-issue on a bass (as I play), since the strings are far heavier, and have more space between them. However, I suspect the issue of silicone making slides difficult would be worse, especially on roundwound strings.

LOL first time here on your channel, I subbed cause I like your style!! This is the 4th video I have watched this week on these silly things but yours was by far THE BEST! So, what happened to your friend? Did he super glue his fingers on to the back of a moving mack truck? lol. I think these could be handy for someone who, like my fiance', does not want the ugly fingertips but wants to play the guitar. If all a person is going to play are chords and such they would probably be fine. The issue with sliding and pull offs is because of the rubber, perhaps make them out of something harder, like Iommi did for his missing 3 digits? If they made these out of a carbon type material I bet they would actually work pretty darn good. I personally do not want to use them but those like my fiance' certainly would!

I had an accident at work nearly two months ago, pinky finger got nearly destroyed from the tip, luckily it was only flesh and nerve (no bone damage), got stitches, etc. Even after the wound has healed, I can't play because the pain on my finger is intense, Dr. said it might be permanent damage, would you recommend to use one of these?
@rich1051414

I have nerve damage in my ring finger. It was really painful for a while, but eventually the pain turned into something else... like an electrical feeling. I guess my brain eventually discarded it as actual 'pain'. It can still feel 'strange' when something hits it weird, but it is more like a stinging tingle and not a problem anymore. Hopefully yours will turn out the same. BTW, mine was from a 4-wheeler accident, a barbed wire fence filleted my finger open to the point that the fat under the pads bloomed out(gross I know), and had to be stitched back together. I don't know if your injury is comparable at all.

For those of us with strong nails something similar but better made would be nice. I've trimmed the nail on my middle finger so far back it bled but my nails grow so thick and strong they come back in just 2 or 3 days. The callouses I've built up just don't protrude far enough past the nail and making some chords my nail hits the fretboard. I see some guitar players fingers and their nail seems much further back than mine.

Learn a light touch, Homes. There is NO reason to push down on the strings harder then you can without touching the back of the neck. - At one time I taught guitar to the guys in the VA Hospital and what I would do for guys that were hurting themselves was to make then put their thumb UNDER the neck and play scales and then bare chords. DO NOT PINCH THE BABY! After a couple of weeks they never had any problems and their speed increased by factors.

If it's an acoustic guitar, consider changing the strings to some that are easier on the fingers. Also, although I haven't tried these finger guards, I'm seeing from comments that these can really interfere w/ your playing (e.g. you might accidentally touch adjacent strings w/o knowing) + if u want to eventually play w/o these, you will still need to play w/o these some to build up your calluses.

Для того чтобы убрать этот акцент надо "опустить голос в горло" психологически. Плюс убрать "рр".

Get them. The point of playing is to enjoy it. Not everyone has to be a master guitarist, some people can be perfectly fine as hobbyists and that's not a bad thing. Get them if it would help you keep motivation in playing.

Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate advice like this. I could not live without such advice! 👍👍👍 And I appreciate even more that you wrote four comments making fun of my accent. If there were more people like you in the world, the world would not know hunger and wars.
