EXTRINSIC FINGER FLEXOR MUSCLES AND MECHANISM | HAND COMPLEX | BIOMECHANICS
The extrinsic muscle groups are called extrinsic because the muscle belly is located on the forearm.
Finger flexion is achieved by the action of the flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) and the flexor digitorum profundus (FDP) extrinsic muscles.
When the point of force application was at the DIP joint, the FDS accounted for more than 70% of the total force of all flexors
