For context, the reason why the glowing ring is a big deal is because Cerrit’s ring glows whenever it detects lies, and at the moment he was thinking that this was the last time he was going to see his kids, so when he says that he’ll tell them all about this in a later date in order to calm his kids down, the ring detected the lie and started to glow.

He did have that feature because he talked about it on a 4 sided dive episode. So basically once he rolled the 8 on the inspiration die it was impossible for him to fail that roll but like most people I forgot about that until someone else mentioned it but it doesn’t really matter because narratively speaking it was such a beautiful way to end the campaign
@noone-ld7pt2 жыл бұрын
@@joshfrier2287 That is a very interesting point, and I 100% agree that the way it played out was absolutely perfect! I will also say that reliable talent didn't seem to occur to Travis in the moment so I believe that if he hadn't hit the 30 with the Insp+Talisman+Advantage I think he would have accepted the failiure. But the maths nerd in me really wants to puzzle it out, so I did: With reliable talent: 10 (RT) + 13 (Investigation) = 23 d10 (Insp): 1) autosucceeds: 50% (6 or higher, since the added d4 on a 29 gives at least +1 making it a success) 2) autofails: 20% (on a 2 or lower as the 25 would be out of range for the d4) 3) 5, 4, 3 on the d10 makes the d4 the critical roll (pun intended) d4 (talisman): 1) A 5 on the d10 would give a 75% chance of success with the d4 (adding 7.5% to the total chance of success) 2) A 4 on the d10 would give a 50% chance of success with the d4 (adding 5%) 3) A 3 on the d10 would give a 25% chance of success with the d4 (adding 2.5%) So the added chance of success even with the reliable talent seems to be 65% which is still a very failable roll!

Random thought but I can't help but wonder how much of the names are drawn from main story critical role and how they factor in going forward. Raisha sounds like the dragon Rishan from vox machina. Kamora sounds like Kamorda, Beau's home area. Evandrin sounds like Vandrin, Fjords old captain. I guess I'm just curious if they used old lore as starting places to build this story or if this story retroactively named and created parts of the old campaign. Like will we find out later that places in Tal dorei, Wildmount, etc. were named after and by survivors of Avalir?
