Eye of the World - Mandelbrot Fractal Zoom [Depth 4e1028]

Our first ultra-deep zoom this year! Depth 4e1028! A traditional Mandelbrot zoom. The colouring can be quite dense at time because this is actually a "third order" zoom. You will notice that there are 3 distinct patterns that appear at different colour densities. Accompanied by some acoustic guitar. I highly recommend Jordan B. Peterson's "12 Rules for Life." His previous book "Maps of Meaning" addresses your "irrational" fear a bit more, but it's a bit dense and complicated. 12 rules is easier. It's perfectly natural to be afraid of infinity. That's a lot of anomalies. It's the unknown. It's unexplored territory. We're supposed to be afraid that. We're also supposed to be drawn to explore it. Not being afraid means we're being foolish and putting ourselves in danger. Not exploring means not learning and adapting.

Can someone explain what a mandelbrot zoom is? This is very cool, but it's hard to appreciate something when you have no clue what it is P.S. I know what a fractal is

after the first 40-ish seconds the familiar stuff is gone and it just becomes very random pretty color-swirls. The impact feels a little lost with how random it comes across. You can skip to random parts of the video and it all feels about the same. Watching in order is the same too.

I've noticed your videos almost always end up zooming into a minibrot. So is it kind of like a lottery on how deep you go? Like say you pick a point, and start zooming in. It would just keep zooming until this point because once you zoom into that blackness, it's always stable and just black and essentially over. Have you started zooms before where it'll only go a couple minutes before finding a minibrot and ending? Also how are the colors even generated. I know that they're on a scale of how quickly they explode, but what's the actual scale? Is the scale just the gradient of the color, and the color scheme just changes randomly to give variety?

It's no lottery, you can always predict the depth. If you stay on the centre of symmetry, the mini-brot is twice as deep as where you started. You will notice that from the 1/2 way point, you are looking at a replay of the previous shapes at twice the symmetry, moving at twice the speed. 3/4 of the way through it moves to 4-way symmetry, 7/8ths 8-way symmetry etc. Eventually this collapses into a minibrot. If you go off-course there is nothing, the Mandelbrot is always connected. The colour scheme is a pre-generated set of 1024 colours (usually, sometimes I use less). Usually alternating somehow between light and dark to give contrast. The colours are then repeated. The colour changes with the iteration count (ie how many times z=z^2+c is calculated, before it escapes). I do adjust the iterations per colour for a nice effect, but the colour always represents the iteration count somehow, unless I say otherwise. (orbit traps, and square root colouring is different for example)

You can make videos like this one! This one is made with "Kalles Fraktaler", it is free software. (Not all my vids use this software, so you can't make them all, but this one can be done with just KF). There is also a tutorial on my channel, which shows how to render a basic video. You will need a pretty good computer for anything deeper than 1e100. I also have a "Made with Kalles Fraktaler" playlist if you need inspiration.
