his voice hasn't changed that much. "What's Your Name" is one of my favorite songs . The Debarges (their debut)was and still is my favorite Debarge album by far.

El still has his boyish looks and charm and, of course, talent...He looks like a combination of Adam Clayton Jr. and Prince...It's a great pity that El relapsed again, but hopefully he'll make it through again and triumph once more...I think what El needs to do is go to regular counselling sessions with other recovering addicts, so that he has a place to vent and receive counselling and learn from and thrive off the stories and inspiration of his peers who are also struggling to stay clean.

He made it through. It's 2022 and El is still clean & sober. Thank God in Jesus name Amen.

What are you all talking about??? Current gossip??? Are any of you aware that El has been out of rehab since the middle of March and has been on tour since April??? Regardless, he's always in our prayers. New postings of some of the tours can be found right here on you tube. Try entering El DeBarge @

We al have our own choices to make in life. The choices that El makes are between him and God. Let's pray the God leads him to do what God wants him to do. Not what we want him to do.

I know my outlook won't be popular with too may folks on here who love El Debarge, but I would have rather seen his brother Bobby AND him live an ordinary, but STABLE life out of the lime light and away from the music industry, than have their lives cut short by drugs.

lovebeingamum40 This is what El wants to continue to do. Don't judge his decision.

the music industry has nothing to do or had nothing to do with their drug addictions they were abused by their father which drove all of them to drugs and destruction. The music has saved them in some ways.

MaMa Katt Music is all he has. He doesn't want to do anything else. Music is his escape. I heard him in an interview say that he loves going on tour and interacting with his fans even though it's scary because he gets nervous going on stage but to him it's better than going back to drugs as an escape. Prison humbled him and gave him a new outlook on life. Besides, if he went gospel, it would limit him and El doesn't want to be put in a box musically. That's why he says "The love of God through the voice of his music".

Bobby started using drugs at 15 due to the physical and sexual abuse from his father.

@mssvic88 Let's lift El DeBarge up in prayer because it is clear that satan is out to destroy him and the entire family. I pray El leaves the music industry completely and gets into music ministry proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in a REAL way!

@xxJasmineJxx Its not old its just been some months, but last time I checked, he checked himself back into rehab and I havent heard anything else from him since.

His struggle is still obvious in 2019. He can look soooo different in a short period of time. I am thankful he is aware of his need for God (I hope in the Name of Jesus. He is the only way to Father God.) His testimony seems to glorify God, but his music does not. Walk the talk. All else is fading. Give your all to the Lord. Write, sing, perform to lift His Kingdom. Trust Him.

@lovebeingamum40 i agree with you its just people wanting to make money off him he says that GOD saved him then he needs to do GOD the music industry is going to destory him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...Just my "two cents", but "the machine"(the music industry and it's parasites, i.e., drug dealers, etc...), could be the very entity that is contributing to this man's demise. I realize he needs to make a living, and has fans...BUT is it really worth it for him to end up like his brother Bobby? It seems that alot of people(especially his female fan base)appreciate his talent, but are so enthralled with his looks, that they're forgetting this man has a serious drug addiction.

Niesha McCoy We are all adults and entitled to our point of few. To judge is a very important part of the human experience. To advise anyone, especially an adult, is annoying as hell and it doubly annoying when you, a mere human, is unable to do it yourself. The moment you lay your eyes on someone you make a judgement. So to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. So I judge because it's my natural state of being. It is obvious that I found your comment annoying. So yes I am judging you. It is what humans do and no amount of silly platitudes with make it go away. I am an El fan. However, I am not a zealot or crazed fanatic. I want to see him win. His talents should not be wasted. But I live within the realm of reality. El is a junkie. It is hard to kick addiction. I want him to win. I wish him the best. I love the artist El.
@nieshamccoy94196 жыл бұрын
Pat P Let me explain it to you like this. This type of music is what El wants to do so for others to say that he should get out of it is just wrong. I understand everyone wants the best for El but let El Debarge do El Debarge. Let him be who he is without judgement. Let's not judge him by what WE think. He's fine. He knows his mistakes and fought through them. I understand that no one wants him to end up like Whitney but everyone who is a fan of El wants to see him win and he is fine but at the same time, even as fans, we have to let El Debarge do El Debarge and do what he loves. His music. His way.

im sure there are a lot of vultures swarming around El tempting him with drugs. I pray that El is strong enough to fight it off and just be addicted to his music. He’s been down the drug path, been to jail for it and i’m sure it’s a very dark place he never wants to go back to, it that nearly took him out of here. i’m sure it’s a struggle for him everyday to stay sober, drug free but as long as he got good people around him, strong in his faith and the lord, he will overcome. I’m glad he’s doing what he was born to do, music, i say El keep doing it until you can’t no more.

@mssvic88 In addition, if Kevin Thornton from Color Me Badd could walk away from a million dollar contract to follow Jesus all the way and Denise Matthews (formerly known as Vanity and Prince ex girlfriend) can make a turn around, so can El.

sasilver1 El still loves what he does. Don't judge it. He is doing well in 2017. What people shouldn't do is hold his past against him.
