FOR ANYONE USING EEVEE IN BLENDER 2.8x This tutorial is still perfect, but you need to check Screen Space Reflection in the render tab (the second from the top in the properties windows, the icon with the little camera) and in the drop down menu check refraction. In the material window of the sclera (the one with the ball shape icon) check Screen Space Refraction and voilà, a perfect pbr eye, maybe tone down a little the bump of the sclera by reducing the factor in the multiply node at 2:57

thanks man you saved my life i was about to kill myself cause i was doing everything exactly and still can't see the iris because i didn't enable the refraction thing that you mentioned 🙂🙂 thanks again

I like this format, I don't have to spend half an hour listening to someone drone on, then another hour having the bloody scale tool explained to me for the millionth time. If anyone thinks it's too fast, watch it through once and look up any tools or functions you're not familiar with (it's all useful stuff you'll need in the future anyway), then come back.

Definitely the best eye tutorial and super efficiently laid out it really is easy for beginners i like rewinding and pausing to get everything and it helps that you streamlined this so all i have to do is go back a little for something i didnt get! this one tutorial taught me so many things as a beginner : uv maps, textures, normals, bumps, interface, hot keys and great simple and quick explanations! if you could do one on a low poly full human with correct anatomy and face in 15 min with rigging many people would be appreciative it would help streamline the pipeline for game development! Either way thanks for making such efficiently educative tutorials this could be used for anything from games to cg to simulations! Great work!

Claus Bohm All blender tuts follow a pretty standard flow. Watch enough of them and you'll get good at learning all the stuff you want from a 30min video in 5mins by jumping to the important parts. This is a very straight forward tut. Ask me questions if you need help. Blender community is one for all and all for one. The more ppl that learn the program the more popular it becomes and the better it becomes.

For everyone not seeing the iris in blender 2.8: 1. Go to render menu and enable "Screen Space Reflections" and inside this enable "Refraction" 2. Go to material menu and enable "Screen Space Refraction" under Settings If you can see the iris, but not well enough, check if the IOR in the Glass shader is set to 1.376 Also i would put the value of the multiply node to -0.03 (instead of -0.3). i dont know if it has to do with blender version, but it looks way better in my opinion.
