If the government refuses to block primate ownership than the country budget should be legally held to providing money and care for those who are rescued from abuse. If the politicians refuse to address the abuse they may be inclined to end the trade when it requires that the public monies are negatively impacted by redirecting funds from public services into animal care.

Apes are very intelligent and can show empathy and kindness. A few episodes ago, Toprish wouldn’t go outside. Her group were given large blocks of ice lollies. At one point, one of the boys dragged a whole lollie into the playroom so that Toprish could have some. It warmed my heart. I absolutely ❤ primates! I’ve learned so much from watching Monkey Life.

"You can never replicate companionship with these animals, you can put in as much enrichment as you want too and try to keep them as busy as you possibly can, but to have a friend and a companion is better than anything, really. They'll be constantly chatting to each other, grooming is a really great social interaction - so you can never beat having a companion for social species like these." Michael Jamison in Brakpan South Africa has a Monkey Day-School.. "The best gift for a Monkey, is another Monkey...!!!" He has 4 play-cages and 2 indoor retreats with elevated tunnels connecting them all... He even installed a tunnel that goes over his house to the cage in the front yard...

With primates being so close of a match to us it makes me wonder if the mom wolley suffers postpartum depression after giving birth, or if the delivery is traumatic for her to cause her react in such a way. The mom is still young herself so hopefully if she becomes pregnant again maybe the staff can preplan and come up with something that may help stop her negative responses

As much as I hate to say it, I think they should put a contraceptive in Isla so she doesn't have anymore babies. I know Woolly monkey's are endangered and every birth is special but when the mother is harming the baby its probably best she doesn't have any more. Praying the precious little one isn't seriously hurt and she thrives and grows up to be a healthy happy Woolly.

I love the stumpy, ugly monkeys. They even look so grumpy! It's like they have made some deal with Nature. Their demeanor says: "OK we'll be the ugly ones..just love us for who we are!"

I understand Isla...I wouldn't have bit my baby and threw it to the ground. But, since I was raised in unnatural captivity with a mom that didn't show me "the ropes" I wouldn't have been a good mother so decided not to reproduce......all on my own.
