Thanks as usual for the review. I think a lot of people are confused about "Pre" - I believe this is supposed to be an external "presence" control. The JF-03 "Crunch Distortion" was a Crunch Box clone, but it ran way too hot and bright out of the box, and there was no easy way to adjust it. A vendor from California (King of Pedals) was in contact with the Chinese manufacturer, and told me that they had added the external "pre" knob to dial it in.

Just unboxed my Deluxe Crunch, and my jaw is on the floor, this cheap little thing is CLEAN between notes and sounds better than 4 other pedals that each are at least 5x the cost. No longer a gear snob I have learned my lesson and cannot deny my ears. Also you are right about Gibson, I will never part with my 72 LP, BECAUSE THEY FORGOT THE SECRET RECIPE.

You are right, Pre could be presence and it does add more High end when using higher distortion settings. But I do think in this case it is a primary gain stage, because you can crank it up and get an overdrive, which a Presence control would not give you. So in this case it is like a pre-amp...

Und: Gebraucht kaufen für mehr Nachhaltigkeit ... ;-) 30-Watt-Laney-Linebacker mit Delay + eben dem Deluxe Crunch für daheim. Ist ein Transistor-Amp, aber ich bin hin und weg. Die Dynamik vom Joyo ist der Hammer: Wenn ich vorsichtig in die Saiten streiche habe bei entsprechendem Setting einen leicht gesättigten Cleansound, spiele ich intensiver kommt sofort 'ne Schippe Drive oben drauf. I have this and I liken it to giving you an ORANGE amp OD sound as it is a slightly more square wave drive tone - which is actually less common in cheaper pedals so is a great pedal to have in your arsenal. Stacks brilliantly by the way

One fine and 'njoyoable demo youngster. I have the Joyo Crunch which I like a lot and use all the time. This Deluxe version appears to be one step up. They'd better not come up with a Super Deluxe or we are in trouble. BTW - fun fact: Danelectro has used 25" scale for years and years before PRS! Another fun fact: A PRS Santana SE will fit into the old Danelectro Amp 'n Case. Been there and done that it's a fact. Use this knowledge for good and not for evil.

You can use the deluxe Crunch as a low gain drive, but it wouldn't give you the sweet baby sound. It does sound good in low gain as well... but for how little they cost, just get both. I have a friend who uses both those pedals in his live setup and it sounds amazing.

Hello, Greetings from Macedonia. Your videos are amazing and give a clear picture of the pedals sound and quality, great reviews ! The pedal reacts good with guitar knobs, the knobs of the pedal itself work smoothly. Nice crunchy distorsion, good for both rhytam and lead playing, also can work as overdrive if you tweek the knobs low. I got it for 34 $ directly from China, for the money this pedal is just a steal !

I have the Caline version of this pedal, the Sandstorm. I’m absolutely flabbergasted with the sound of it. I’ve been looking for that Van Halen sound my whole life. And this box gives it. I think the pre knob (pre amp or presence, I don’t know 😊) is the key. It adds that searing top end that Ed made famous on Van Halen 1.

The "Pre" isn't preamp, it's presence. Written on the user manual ;-)

That's an error due to a German trying to translate it to English. A prescense control adds brightness. This pre control obviously added gain with the distortion turned down. The Chinese make the same and worse mistakes! Good for joyo on this pedal by bringing in another gain stage like the voice knob on an amp simulator which changes the mid frequency which adds gain as well

Was this a reply to Renzo?  Also, in your opinion, out of all the Joyo Overdrive & Distortion pedals, which one is more likely to give you the singing lead tone of Gary Moore & Slash. Do you think the deluxe crunch takes away too much bass or sounds too thin? I noticed how it isn't as thick as my other overdrives but it doesnt really sound thin to my ears when I dont compare it to anything else. Havent tried it in a full band setting yet. Does it cut better being somewhat lo fi?

Believe it or not...I have 39 pedals on my 3 tiered pedal board...LOL and I use them all The coolest thing about this pedal is you can back it off. I have a ts 808...then a Dumble type pedal...next a Blues drive. You can see my pedals get gradually more distorted. I write for my 3 piece Alt rock band and we can go from a Heavy Metal sound to me picking out something pretty on my Martin then gradually back.... in the same tune.The hard thing to find is that pedal that if it was just a bit lighter it would be a Blues type if it was just a bit heavier it becomes too 'fuzzy' and is heading towards hard rock even Metal. The Joyo Deluxe Crunch does this beautifully...and as you can hear it goes much heavier too.The secret to this is the Pre Amp knob...without it you have jut another overdrive that others do as well. Oh yes. The best place to get any chinese made pedals is Alibaba. This cost me $35.00 US and free shipping. The down side is you can wait 4 to 6 weeks for delivery. If you do your homework on U-tube etc. You can get a great collection of pedals I have got some very useful...pads ,loopers, boosters, and buffers by companies such as Mogoo and Protaitone for between $15 and $25....and the stuff was well made and worked great. One last thing if 'Eytsch' says a pedal is great....it is ...if he doesn't like it...save your money.....LOL Some times he really turns me off...he can be an arrogant little sob....He is the very best...and he knows it....LOL ....but what am I going to do. Other reviewers are quite frankly incompetent...or full of bull...or worst of all have no objectivity. When the man says a pedal is great...expect it to exceeds your expectations. He did a review on the Mooer yellow Comp. he was quite impressed. I have acsess to my bass players Kelley 4 knob....but damn it ...this thing is as good. I got mine for $50.00

Thanks for your reviews, they are awesome! I've bought like 8 Joyo pedals including the loop pedal based on your reviews and I'm pretty happy with them. Unrelated question.. i have a Fender Strat and an Ibanez Prestige and I'm trying to alternate between both in gigs. When I run the guitars through a Boss Gt8 both guitars have similar outputs. With the analog pedal board I've noticed that if I set up the board for the Strat, every time I plug the Ibanez and turn on a pedal, the volume drops below the clean volume. So I have to be turning up the pedal volumes every time I play the ibanez. Is there a way around this?

That is weird... I would have thought that the Ibanez has a higher output than the strat. I have no idea the problem could be. Is it also happening with every pedal by itself or only when all the pedals are in the chain.... try to troubleshoot the system and find out which pedal or where in the chain the level drop occurs... seems really weird that it is happening with the Ibanez. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

thanks for the quick reply! today I tried the pedals one by one.. I noticed that the ones that give a bigger volume boost to the Strat compared to the Fender are the Boss Metal Zone, the Fuzz Star and the Joyo British sound. The Joyo Sweet baby works very well, and the Joyo crunch distortion gives a little more boost to the Strat but not very noticeable. The Joyo delay, flanger and chorus work fine. Also I noticed that the ones that dont work well, when in the chain, make things worse for the pedals that are connected after them. I am getting the Joyo loop today in the mail, I guess I could isolate each distortion pedal in one loop each, so they would not alter the other ones, right?

hey another unrelated question.. the sound we hear is from the miked cabinet in the isolation box, I get that. Is the isolation cabinet lid closed at the time you record? I am planning to build a big isolation box for my Twin Reverb amp, so I won't make much noise at my apartment. However, people keep saying that the sound you get is too 'boxy'. I'm not sure what they mean, do you have an experience like that?

No. It's a clone of the MI Audio Crunch Box. Similar to the BB, I'll give you that. Both can be traced back to the Marshall Guv'nor circuit.

I would suggest the Deluxe Crunch, it is more defined and punchy and I think you need that for punk... the ultimate drive is more flabby and wobbly and less reactive...

ignacio bustamante The Deluxe Crunch will definitely get you different tones than the Rat. The Rat gives you a classic 80s high gain distortion, I think the Deluxe Crunch is a bit more flexible and less aggressive.

Listening other videos in youtube I think that Us Dream it's like the Ultimate drive but with more distortion?, and sometimes even similar to the Rat haha, just can't decide which pedal to buy. well, the Us dream is more like an 80s high gain pedal and the ultimate drive simulates the distortion from a driven power amp, which makes it wide and fat, but less defined. For link, you don't need a lot of gain, you need definition, so I would go with the deluxe crunch.

I've read that this is a clone of the Xotic RC Booster, I've also been told the gets the Fulltone Plimsoul sound. The Caline Sand Storm is supposed to be the same pedal, and I plan on getting that.

It is a clone of the MI Crunch Box, like the JHS Angry Charlie. It's not an exact clone, but with an EQ pedal and compressor, I got mine to sound like the Angry Charlie These pedals are all based on the Marshall Guvn'r and are meant to emulate a cranked JCM800
