Just ordered it. This little thing will go in a gigbag for any situation. I play bass and guitar live and this will be the backup for the hx stomp, it will be the backup for live gigging with my tube heads, it may end up on a very small board for silent practicing and traveling. At that price point, with that footprint and those features... it's a livesaver and more.

This thing is actually insane. A new guitar player can get this and just go into an audio interface to some decent studio monitors and have an amazing practice setup. Never been a better time to be a guitarist and have amazing tones at such a great price. I only wish this little pedal had MIDI, if it did then it would be perfection. if it had MIDI I would use it with my HX stomp over the big tonex pedal for an amazing flyrig.
@cirisirpula1526 ай бұрын
Eh not sure how many percentage of new players have interface and studio monitors. Not to mention then the new player could just use plugins instead of this. This also has only reverb. I think IR-2 makes more sense for new player with phones out and pod express with its effects and phones out. Edit. Okay seems that you can plug headphones into this, which is nice!

I worked it out by defaulting to Henning's review. I was born & bred in Liverpool. Although HP uses self effacing humour in relation to the use of the English language he's a hell of a lot better at it than I am. I would strongly recommend that any manufacturer should employ him to write their instruction Manual in a KZbin video format. It just works.

I see what you did here, Henning) Clearly, the best use case of this pedal (and the Tonex platform, imho) - is to profile your amps/pedals/sound. And to use them when needed. As you showed here. I don't think it's communicated properly (in general, not by you per se) the difference between modeling and capturing software. Capturing is kinda tricky one. If you don't do capturing yourself. Imagine someone done some capturing. That person used, balanced for them, gain setting of the soundcard input gain, make specific settings of the amp or the rig for their particular use case (gain, volume, EQ + maybe cabinet/pedal settings etc). And then you are trying to use that capture with your vintage low output single coil guitar to achieve their captured hi-gain amp/rig sound (probably done for use with hi output active pickups, etc.) Great move with your captures, btw!

The preset sharing for devices is kinda getting out of hand IMO. 20k presets is insane. I'd argue it defies the point of being able to share them in the first place, because nobody will ever be able to go through them all and/or find actual good ones among the thousands upon thousands. It'll be just like tabs/chords and such - there's a bazillion tabs/chord and sites full of them on the internet, and the vast majority of them are pretty much unusable, because they're usually hilariously inaccurate to the point where they'll tell you to play completely different chords that don't even make sense (my favorite is when they tell you to play for example a major chord where the song uses a minor one instead). And just like with tabs, more and more often, people just go "preset anyone?" instead of actually trying to come up with something themselves. (And don't get me started on pretty much everyone trying to monetize their presets, that's a plague of online communities lately.)

Awesome video man. The only improvement that I would surely welcome is a gate with downward extention multiband denoising- like the Bertom denoiser. Some of the high-gain Tone models are quiet with the current gate when not playing, but tend to allow a lot of noise and hiss through while playing. I've found the Bertom denoiser ridiculously helpful for in DAW studio recording, but when I play live with Tonex pedal I find room for improvement. Helix has a better gate imo. Outside of this aspect, Tonex is king!

Not a good live solution for me (I'll stick with my Kemper 😉), but I can imagine it will be perfect for many people who just want some great tones. If they could make a reasonably priced big brother (bigger than the original ToneX obviously) with plenty of foot switches (think Quad Cortex/Kemper Stage form factor) for ease of use when playing live, I think IK could start outselling the current big boys in the profiling/capturing game. I know I'd be tempted to switch 😁

@@JohnWiku There's plenty of people who care about Kemper, but a lot of people wouldn't even go for it because it was very expensive when it first came out (and honestly it kinda still is). Now, they finally come up with a more affordable version in a convenient form factor, and suddenly it's still too expensive..? Just remember that neither Tonex comes with an array of effects and that you'd still have to integrate it into a more complete setup, which adds to the value of the whole rig, comparably to a single Kemper Player, which is pretty usable from the get go with its onboard effects. Sadly, both products seem flawed to me, as neither have an FX loop to position external effects strategically, so I'm not entirely on the boat of either device. I'm a Helix/Fractal enjoyer after all. I'd take the flexibility of amp models vs the hassle of amp profiles any day, but that's just because I don't own a physical amp myself to profile. And primarily use it because I'm in a cover band that's all over the place with genres and didn't feel like creating a huge pedal board with individual pedals and signal loss. The only thing I can see is that I would have to buy an expression pedal I wonder if it has an option for that for hookup. I also imagine that if you're going to get the full use of this pedal like most modelers you're going to have to use FRFR speaker in a live situation for example. Is this better than pod go? Sounds killer!
@karikaroyt26896 ай бұрын
While the two have overlapping features, they’re for different use cases: The Pod Go is supposed to be a AIO unit-plug in your guitar, make your digital rig for your set, and go to FOH or an amp. The ToneX One is a small-footprint Swiss Army knife for your existing pedalboard, either as an amp or drive. Or if you simply need just an amp with a few channels and verb with an extremely small footprint. So neither is really better than the other per se, they just have different focuses. The Pod Go has more effects and is overall more versatile, but the ToneX One costs less and fits on a board better. Their differences in audio quality are arguably negligible in a mix, though I imagine the potential is higher for the ToneX considering it loads amp profiles instead of modeling.

Would you suggest getting a pair of the ToneX Ones or is a single one a good enough option?
