I suspected valve seals on my cart. She burns oil everytime I drive it. It does get worse after it's warmed up so I'll assume that's the oil build up in the muffler. I bought a set of seals about a 2 months ago and just haven't taken the time to change them. I love how your using simple tools to do the job. It's inspiring because I'm a race car builder and I change valve seals on v8's all the time and I thought I would charge the cylinder with shop air to hold the valves up. I like your method with the pistons at TDC. Nice and simple. Maybe I'll do it this weekend!

Just to make a suggestion Jeshua Lee take small pull rope type string like a lawn mower pull rope and stuff it in the sparkplug hole when the pistons are about an inch or two from the top dead center. Then you can tighten it up to the valves so you don't lose them at all and if you have to you can make it push up while you are putting the valve keepers back on it makes it easier. One other point when you are pushing down to remove the keepers use a small manet stick to grab them because they can get in to the crank case.

Plug yer oil drain holes with some tp wadded up into the holes to PREVENT anything from falling down into crankcase. Foam ear plugs work for me also.

Great video! I had a yamaha g1 two stroke cart a while back that I had to rebuild the engine on. That muffler was so packed full of oil, it would should flames for the first hour of running!

My cart was smoking, it had no power, and it would stop after running a while. I went to a forum and consulted with "experts." They told me I needed a rebuild. I was getting ready to put a Predator in my cart because Subaru has abandoned the Robin, and I thought mine was worn out. I put new valve seals in it, adjusted the clearance, and found out I was getting 150 psi of compression. The rings are fine. The engine starts instantly now and runs without problems. They also say you should pull an engine to change the seals. They suggest shoving rope into the cylinders instead of putting the pistons at TDC, as you suggest. I did it your way, and it worked fine. How did you get so smart?

Appreciate you for this. Does the pcv hose attach to the engine from the air filter. Dumb question probably. But I have one of these and there was no hose on mine. :/
@jeshualee2711Ай бұрын
@@JoshStevenson yes its a rubber flexible pre-formed hose that connects to the air filter to the crankcase of the engine.

Mine had a bunch of oil in the air box from the vent tube connected to the crankcase. I disconnected the hose and pointed toward the ground 😅. Also I found out that I have been overfilling my oil bc my cart is lifted. Apparently this changes the oil level on the stick drastically. Hope this helped.... Good luck

Is this a Workhorse? I have an ST350. Started following your video and working on the cart today. That stuff on the passenger side looks much more complicated than it is in this video. I got a few fasteners loose, but I can't pull the cover to the side yet. The air box seems to hold it in place, and you said to leave the air box on. Any tips?

I have a problem with my 2007 EZGO ST with Robin engine. The rear diff leaks out of the top where the throttle cable ends. It's like that bolt jumped up 1/4 inch and diff fluid will spit out. It won't tighten anymore or go down. Ever experience this? Thanks

Hi a good tip when working out a compression (assuming the valves are adjusted correctly) is to do a compression test as described. If there is a low reading squirt some engine oil into the cylinder. If the compression goes up it indicates a piston ring problem if it remains the same then its a valve problem

Can I burn 🔥 the muffler out with acetylene and oxygen torch

I would say that would be too hot and probably would melt internal pieces because those are some thin pieces in that muffler baffle

You should go back and edit your video not being smart but you called the 3/4-in wrench that you were using to put pressure on the spring a screwdriver like two or three times you called it a screwdriver and the tappets that you're talking about on top of the valve those are not tablets those are keepers just a couple of things I noticed while I was watching your video
