*LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED* Best tutorial for beginners I've found to date. Extremely clear, to the point, no waisted time and very easy a beginner to understand without talking over our heads. Do you have any videos explaining how to use a rotary and engrave rings for beginners? If not, hopefully you'll consider it but I'll be looking at your entire library shortly. Thank you!

Thx, this was a useful video. My 12.1 version doesn't have the cross hatch option in the hatch menu, so if I want a cross hatch, I use hatch two to make the cross hatch. But I guess that I switch to version 2.14.11, easier that way. I didn't know what you told at the end about the outline contour, so giving it a different color outside the hatch will solve some issues that I had with it. :)

Hi Jeffrey Thank you so much for the tutorial about hatching. It’s super useful as always. Just a few questions tho. 1. Why the hatch settings can make clearer and more solid colours on metals (black, white, silver or grey) than only using parameter settings to engrave on metals? 2. I noticed in your previous videos that the Laser off/on, End and Polygon have different parameter settings. How do these settings change the colours I want to engrave on metals without hatching? 3. What is the best parameter settings to engrave on sterling silver or gold metal in black without hatching?

Looking for clarification on your explanation of hatch and angle settings 15:45 in your video. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't tested this yet and I didn't read through all 107 comments but I understood this to work as follows: Angle (above count) defines the initial angle the hatch lines are marked where Count describes the number of times/passes that one full cycle of hatches are marked, and Auto Angle Rotate describes the rotation in degrees that the next hatch set will be marked in relationship to the previous pass/marking until the number of counts are complete (effectively making a style of crosshatch). Sound correct? -Thank you so much for all your videos. HUGE help for us beginners.

Hi, Very helpful information, Can you help with a problem I have found, When I put a size of say 10mm characters they engrave as 6.9mm, Have I got a setting wrong?
@jefferyj
@jefferyj 4 жыл бұрын
Your settings should be fine. The fonts have a baseline on which the letter sits as well as clearance above and below the letter that is referred to as ascending and descending heights. These values are unique to every font and both amounts are included in the 10mm 'height', so when you change the 'height' you're not setting the actual marked Y dimension. If you're just marking one line, select your text on the screen, set the height in the X, Y dimensions boxes (with the ratio lock activated) for an actual 10mm Y value instead of using the 'height' box. Your actual Y value is now 10mm while the 'height' now changes to a value greater than 10mm. Make sense?

Make sure you are hatching the correct parts of your file and that you don't have any open contours in your artwork. Are you committed to using the STL format? If you have access to Adobe Illustrator, the AI3 file format seems to be the most friendly to import into ezcad.
