6:33 I remember demo-ing EZ Drummer 2 years ago and you could route out the mixer channels to your DAW mixer and add EQs and compressors etc there, which is how I always do it. I think it's the 'Out 1/2' bit at the bottom you see at 2:00. But yeah SD3's mixer is still more powerful with all the bleed options, mic routing and ability to add/delete channels. 5:58 Yup! As a SD3 owner I make a new drumkit for every song, I've never used the same kit twice! So many ways to mix&match all the drums, to say nothing of the dozens of presets. 7:08 I dig the new photoreal graphics in EZ3, almost wish SD3 had that, though I'm guessing we'd then lose the UI thing where the appearance of the drumkits reflects the drums, which I love. Nice overview, thanks!

Real good sounds. Hopefully with the updated ez3 and the ezx and sdx library can be more consistent with the velocity layer, The only thing makes me quit using superior drummer is that some libraries have a hard hitting and some weak snare hit even with velocity up to 127.
@Polentaccio2 жыл бұрын
Yes SD3 has been frustrating for me to dial OUT the machine gunning as well on the snare. Sometimes you are right, the velocity doesn't always deliver either. I found the best results I got were using Slate Trigger on the snare. Sounds like things are a little more natural on this one. Maybe they added a few more velocity hits to the round robin libraries.
@melvinbrinson2 жыл бұрын
It is definitely a pain. How I've handled this is by stacking the rimshot of the same snare (or any other snare really) with the center hit. I then adjust the velocity parameters for that stacked rimshot to trigger from 115-127 (rough estimate, obviously that is to taste).

Nice overview but wait a minute, I thought EZ3 did not give you the ability to export RAW tracks? Are they completely raw in the original mix or are they just treated "less"? I have EZ2 and SD3 and you are right, SD3 is overkill and in a way i can see where it kills creativity. I just want a solid sounding maple kit and a few snares. Then just get me in the DAW and I can process how I want. I do think the cymbals in EZ3 sounds really good though and this was one of the things I contacted them about. Too many fizzy or splatty cymbals, there weren't enough solid sounding crashes. Looks like they have addressed that.
@GreenLightSound2 жыл бұрын
According to Toontrack, the original mix is the drums as they were recorded with no additional processing.

@@GreenLightSound Interesting. They had replied to a FB post and said it was not possible so that is definitely welcome. Tried to communicate this with their techs and they told me it was never in there, I told them that was not true because I had that track saved from their library. Does anyone know if they have ever added a stick count-in in any upgrade or in EZ drummer 3?? It was really neat when I found it, but I have not been back into it for a few years now and somewhere in my files there should be that count-in file. Does EZDrummer 3 allow you to change or reassign the midi map? I need to be able to change the midi note for a specific drum or cymbal so the incoming midi note from my e-drum kit triggers the drum or cymbal I want. EZDrummer 2 does not have this feature - Toontrack support had said that was intentional and you would have to upgrade to SD3 to get that functionality. Really hoping they included this in EZ3 since all other drum VSTs at this price point include this.

Yeah, Toontrack have been really lazy about providing graphics for EZX kits in Superior. By trade I´m a designer. I contacted them about some simple solutions and even a built in "graphics editor" that would allow users to load textures onto kits. There are 2 paths they could take... prerendered surfaces for the existing GUI or go 3D with a ealtime render engine (there are plenty around already). Prerendered is much less likely to cause compatibility problems but real-time 3d would allow the user to modify lots more (and even a community where users cab share studio/room presets). Unless Toontrack is prepared to standardise graphics across platforms or create platform independent versions for each kit, you would have to go for a compromise. This would consist of deciding which of the platforms is the "main" one. Original graphics would be created for this and then adaptions created for the other platforms... these would be the "compromise". Instead of simply having a standard "black" kit in Superior Toontrack chooses the Superior stock kit that most closely resembles (kit pieces shape/size). Then the surfaces of the pieces are changed to use the textures used on the EZX graphics (this is easier and works better using a real-time engine rather than prerendered graphics. Sure, the kits wouldn´t look as realistic or "technically" correct as the original graphics in the EZX, but I think most users would prefer some kind of graphics "compromise" rather than the black kit. We´ve actually tinkered around with the rendered assets and replaced them, but you can´t expect the average user to have the graphics skills to do that. A "cheap" alternative for Superior users now is to load up one of the SDX´s that most closely resembles the EZX they want to use and then replace the SDX drums (sounds) with those from the EZX library. Only the freakiest users will be prepared to spend the time doing this. (We could actually create a community sharing these patches). Toontrack should really find some kind of solution for Superior users. If not proprietary graphics for the Superior platform, at least some kind of work-around. Keep in mind, when an Superior user purchases an EZX, they are also paying for the graphics work that was a development cost....
