This seems like your in a video from the year 2036 but salvaging space ship parts. Lol . I did this same thing for a 2005 grand caravan, orded a immobilizer with my VIN and it worked. I even got 2 programed keys to.

Yep, the electronics don't care what it's in so if you get all those parts together including the lock cylinder it will just continue to happily work if the car it goes in is the same year, engine, features. My mom's 08 pt never overheated, but the high fan relay went bad and every she turned on the air conditioning it would kill the engine when the air conditioning compressor would freeze up. The full aftermarket fan assembly was 90 bucks on Amazon and included new relays. It was just faster and cheaper to replace the whole assembly. The dealer wanted like 750 bucks. It should have been under recall or warranty but she was just over 50k so not covered. It still doesn't overheat to this day and I personally have never heard of the 2.4 being prone to head gasket failure like the early Neons were when Daimler refused to use the head gasket Chrysler wanted to use to save a few bucks per car.

I lost my keys to my 2001 PT cruiser. Got a ''Locksmith'' to make a new key. At first, the key would open the door but it wouldn't turn in the ignition cylinder. I opened the compartment under the wheel and banged on the piece right under the cylinder to get the key to turn. The anti-theft light is on. It's solid at first but then blinks. I think the SKIM modual is thinking I'm using a shaved key to try to start the car. In any case, I can turn the car over despite having a weak battery (The battery light is on in the car) and on occasion the car will start only for a moment just to turn off again (I'm thinking due to the SKIM). I don't have alot of money and I know fuck all about cars. I just want to start my car. I get the whole anti-theft thing but if you're the owner and you legitimately lose your key's are you just shit out of luck? Will removing the SKIM or ECU (If possible) help me start my car!? I don't care if I don't have theft protection on it. I'll deal with that later, I just need to drive it.

Jt another thing in california its hard to find cars with the key in them at you pull it so i can grab 2 the pcm the skim module and i have a key guy that i use to program all my keys for me. If it dont have the key it will work you will just have to get the key program to the car u working on

DO NOT DO THIS! Avoid at all cost!! If you ever try to make a key, and you go to the dealer to request a pin code for your vehicle (which is free) that pin code they gave you will never work again! Why? Because the SKIM already has a pin code from a different vehicle and and you can’t get the pin code. Then it will cost you way more than if the skim code was for the vehicle. Remember this pin code can be read by eeprom or CDA6 or other software. Always Go straight to the professionals that know how to deal with situations like this, more like security experts. The pin code can be modified to match your vehicle. Other option is to disable skim, it only takes 3 mins to disable VTSS

It does turn over so that tells me the key switch is working, The crank sensor has already been changed. So I got a scanner from my neighbor that works on cars, and I put a new battery in it. Tried to scan it, and the computer wouldn't scan, came up with a failure to read the computer, so I unplug it, then plugged it back in, just to make sure it wasn't just a bad connection. failed again. Tried it on one of my other cars in the yard, it worked on them. Got to be the computer. what do you think? want to buy a PT cruiser?

Not a fan of the PT Cruisers. At the shop, we call them Post Traumatic Cruisers. Mostly because everyone cries the blues with these cars, and they get way to emotionally attached to them. Personally, I believe they suck due to bad engineering. Ever get tired of replacing that fan? The advice is sound, since only 2 engines were offered. Turbo or not. Simple.

Man you're the only one anywhere I've seen who could maybe help me. I have a 2008 pt cruiser with a no start no crank condition. My key fob works and the security disarms (no red light when the key is in the ignition.) But I turned the key and just got a small click from the relay and fuse panel area in the engine bay. And now it seemed to have locked me out. No click anymore no reaction. I have a new battery, new alternator and new starter. All fuses are fine. And the relay seems fine too. Any help?

@@OnlineMechanicTips limp mode issue where it intermittently jumps into third gear and locks there. Also there key is loose in the win module causing the van to die randomly on the highway. When i start it, just by letting go of the key it will die, unless it clicks back in the perfect position after starting. The j18 fuse that sends power to the relay which sends power to the transmission, was clicking on and off when moved slightly. Also there are other things like drivers window intermittently not working making me think that combined with the limp mode that the tipm is beginning to fail. Basically I'm asking if I'm able to bypass tipm reprogramming, by getting the key, skim module, pcm, and tipm from a donor caravan. Or would I have to reprogram regardless if I get a new tipm. Also the moving around theharness that plugs into the transmission seems to have some effect on pulling the van out of limp mode. The code is p0882. Low voltage to tcm. Btw once I get it to start and Its not in limp mode. It's usually good for the day, until the next morning when I fight with it to start not in limp mode.

@@jamieengland9921 wow bud. Listen, a TIPM do not have to be reprogrammed. If you get a used TIPM from a similar van with the same features and same part number, no need to re-flash/re-program a TIPM. In fact, you may need to simply re-configure a TIPM if features are mis matched. Let me say this, you really need a scan tool that can read data inside these modules such as the PCM/TCM and the skim. I take it your scan tool only read codes. That will default you into guessing. Now let me directly address your question. If you go and get a skim, key and pcm, the TIPM do not have to be reprogrammed.

@@OnlineMechanicTips so your saying there's no marriage between the key, pcm, win module, and the tipm. It's married to its host van through the design, layout and options on each individual van. I was told by a dealership that 2011 grand caravan tipms are the only year where there are year specific. Where a 2011 caravan, for whatever reason only accepts 2011 tipms. And that 2012 caravans for example could accept 2012 2013 2014 etc tipms. I just thought that the 2011 year specific tipm problem could be bypassed by including the other 3 components you mentioned. I’m all fixed now. Turns out the PCM was bad and instead of doing the PCM SKIM KEY trick I went and got a PCM and had it programmed.

You could have done that. On the generation before WCM I got all 3 from the salvage yard & zip tied the replacement key to the replacement SKIM & plugged that one in & zip tied that pair under the steering column. No need for new keys since it reads the replacement key/SKIM combo. The issue with this method is that the VIN does not match the vehicle for inspection purposes.

This issue is actually solved now. I had gotten a used PCM and had it flashed. From there it was plug and go 😃. Ever need a PCM flashed or want to purchase one that they will send you that’s already flashed I recommend flash masters in Cincinnati Ohio.

Hey can you swap those pieces and it work on a 06 dodge charger... my immobilizer antenna broke and if I get all 3 do you have to have it programmed to my vin# been told that if I swap out it could cause other things in my car not to work like heat, air, radio etc .... please help I'm very frustrated thanks

The question was if I replace my pcm in my 06 chrysler 300c 5.7l with a used pcm from same year car with same engine will I have to get the skim module and key for it to work in my car.im getting trouble codes p0032 p0038 p0052 p0058 all at once in the original pcm thats in my car now.02 sensor high codes on all four banks.

Yes you will have the same issues and more. Stay away from used junk car PCM. Best to buy one online with your VIN. There is a KZbin video that is a company you mail them your PCM. They reflash it remove anti theft. Then you can use a regular metal key when they mail back the PCM.

@@burnnotice5086 Used PCM are only junk to those thats not sure what to do. I use used PCMs on my personal customers all the time. A $30 used PCM from the pull a part sure beat those other prices

@@familyscapegoat Maybe 60 for the PCM, 50 for the SKIM, and good luck finding the matching key for this skim which ids the only way to make this way work. You have to have all 3.

@@moleykewl7648 This yes, this will def work on using same part numbers of the PCM (computer). Try to get all 3 parts to avoid needing a dealer..If you cant, get PCM and the skim. But you will need a new key to program into the vin of the car you got the parts out of

@@OnlineMechanicTips ok, i just spent about a grand on this thing, thinking it only needed a timing belt. 1000 dollars later with the new belt, water pump, sending the head off , the pcm was acting up. When you turn the key over the tac would jump to 8 rpm and it would not turn over. The computer said it was already running. I changed the pcm , and now the tac does right, it turns over. But the security light comes on and it won't start... im so fed up with this thing its driving me nuts and breaking my bank. From day 1 its gave trouble
