EZV Bow Sight, love it or hate it, that seems to be some of the reaction. Then there are those who are just curious about it. In this video, I explain some of my experiences with this sight.

I think you and Ike's Outdoors are the only two archery reviewers I subscribe to because you're both quite honest about what you think when reviewing products. I know you won't change that just to make manufacturers happy, and frankly, you shouldn't change that to make viewers happy, either. Fanboys won't be happy with a less-than-glowing review (remember that if you review FOBs. Any angry hate mail from me is just my emotional knee-jerk reaction to you not understanding the best advancement in archery since the drop-away rest). ;) One suggestion for you bow reviews that I would make (and the biggest reason I like watching Ike's reviews), is to test different weight arrows alongside the IBO arrow. Nobody - or close to nobody - shoots an IBO arrow when hunting. It will help us gauge how efficient the cam design is at heavier weights. I have a feeling your DL is actually 30" or dang close to it, so in that respect your reviews don't help me that much (27" DL) because of speed and efficiency loss at shorter DLs, but shooting 3 or 4 different weight arrows will give all you gorilla-armed people an idea of how it will perform. Us T-rex armed folks can watch Ike to get an idea of how fast a bow might be. I like your format for reviewing and throwing the spreadsheet up for us to see. Perhaps a draw force curve as well? In all, keep up the great work, both for His Kingdom, and for us archers. Pax tecum!
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
I did that last year with the different weight arrows. I just don’t have the time now that I work full time. By at least doing an IBO test each bow can be compared to each other and to manufacturer’s advertised speeds. I can only do so much and that’s all I can with the way my life is right now. At least you have a resource that can provide what you are looking for in Ike. Thanks for watching and God bless ya

Don't take it personally, your reviews are great you are one of my most trusted archery reviewers. You are very honest and candid no bull no marketing just your personal observations. The original review was good I could tell it was a little rushed and the weather got in the way but it was an honest positive review. If Aaron expected you to deliver an ad he should have paid you for your time instead of thinking that sending you a sight is a payment for an ad.

Sean, you're doing a magnificent job at having reviews. There will always be individuals that don't appreciate both time and effort spent by you with this kind of activity. Furthermore, a lot of people just wait for data, and they consider it should be for granted, and in their format they prefer. My opinion... listen to what they say.. some of them might actually come with good ideas and intentions. But in the end... Do it your way. You don't have to justify yourself to anyone. Be as you are, as it has worked perfectly until now. PS: Don't say that your reviews are not as good as anybody else's. You are unbiased, and I also love the way you present stuff. Don't get discouraged. You don't have any reason to. Peace and God bless. M.

It sounds like you really didn't use this sight long enough to give it a review. I think in order to properly review a product you need to test it thoroughly and use it in the field. If anyone is looking for a better review of this sight try dyi-sportsman or ranch fairy.

I gave it a review. If you’re looking for a review from someone who has used it for a while that’s not this video. I just got it and as I said it isn’t the right time if people or the manufacturer are expecting me to drop everything and make it my primary sight for a while...

Thanks for you non bias ,non paid opinions. There is something to be said about your honesty and integrity. It sounds like just because someone sent you a product to review and they didn’t like your opinion about it. Now they want you to change your opinion. So do yourself a favor and send that thing back to them and take down the review. Your videos are the best period. They are most informative , well produced and non bought and paid for. If I wanted an infomercial I would watch the outdoor channel. Keep doing the video the way you want. If they don’t like it don’t send products and go watch the outdoor channel. Thank you for all your hard work. And for introducing me to the world of archery hunting. I recently purchased bow. Sean I felt your first video was spot on. It saddens me that you had to take time to create a follow up video due to some negative responses. Unfortunately this seems to be Arron's and EZV's M O on allot of social media platforms such as Archery talk, Facebook and KZbin. He definitely has a group of guys that employ a attack mentality if anything even remotely negative is ever said about his product. At the end of the day there is a sound and fundamental reason this sight is not taking off. It's both the concept and the people behind the product.

I caught some attitude from Aaron and his chronies when i asked a question about that sight system. My question was "how do i aim at a troublesome squirrel with that sight" because a squirrel sure would lineup different than a deer. He acted like that sight was the end of pins. Idk. I wasn't willing to gamble on it because i bow hunt many species other than deer and they are all going to have different size kill zones. I just can't see how this sight can range a turkey, a coyote, a deer, a squirrel, ect with the same V.
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
I think you are right, the design of it isn't intended for small game like squirrel. If I understood Aaron correctly, the intention is to frame up a vital zone about 13 inches across. Obviously the kill zone of a squirrel is not going to be 13 inches, lol. Sounds like you made the right choice for your style of hunting in sticking with pins. Thanks for watching and God bless you.

I tuned in the bow w/o a sight or a peep. 1st sight I had was the EZV & 6 weeks ago my micro adjust rest replaced the exact same rest w/o micro & @ that time my new peep which I ordered b4 I found out DIY did a video @ the ATA show was installed. In 1 week I flipped my sight insert since those tick marks were taking away my focus. I couldn't be more confident from any shooting position ground or tree with this sight.

I would like 2 add that framing with that sight is nice with the target provided by EZV, my small 3D/decoy deer target or my Black Hole blocks. Kind of hard 2 explain like instinctual. Sean, you're a better man than I am for saying you're going to give the sight a shot, despite the backlash you got. I finally got around to watching your videos on the EZ V and read through the comment sections after I watched this vid (I didn't see the one you took down). I thought your review was measured, but still positive. I had already placed an order for the sight based on Ranch Fairy's and DIYSportsman's videos. However, after reading Aaron's comments on these vids, I'm half tempted to send the sight back without even opening it. The way he engaged with you was arrogant and rude. Quite frankly, if it wasn't an interesting product and that fact that the company is more than just Aaron, I would return it.

I find it hilarious that people get so butthurt when a review (that wasn't even really negative) doesn't exactly meet their expectations. So many companies seem to confuse the word "review" with "paid advertisement." If someone sends you a product to test, then your experience with the product is what is important, good or bad. Additionally, there is a big difference between a first impressions review and a long-term review, like the ArcheryTalk long term annual bow reviews. This is part of what is so wrong with many outdoors reviews and sponsorships out there now, many people are willing to leave out negatives or straight up lie about how nice a product is just so they can get free stuff. You do you Sean. Sorry you ever felt you had to make this video, just let the haters hate.

No matter whether you and the EZ V sight folks simply had a misunderstanding, or if one of you failed to comply with mutually agreed upon expectations, it’s not anyone else’s business. I’ve got the sight, and it’s simply not something someone can see if it will work for them in a short period of time. So far, this is my short and quick assessment. I’m surprisingly accurate with the sight using the tick marks, and I don’t have quite the issue with punching the release, especially at longer ranges. It’s nice not to have the target obscured by pins. As for what I don’t like about it so far, for whatever reason I’m having a tendency to center mass my 3D target instead of aiming at the top of the heart, which is obviously not good for 15 yd avg. distance whitetails from 20 ft up in a stand. The jury is still out, and I just might put it away this weekend until next year because of my present level of confidence in it vs. my pin sight.

Sean's Outdoor Adventures, gotcha. I hope you get around to trying it next year to let us know how it works for you. You definitely want a 3D. I got a tip on another review already that made me realize it’s more or less a two step process for shooting at the lower 1/3 of a deer instead of center mass. That’s why I checked your video out. I was looking for some discussion on this. DIY Sportsman replied back earlier that you first frame the deer for initial ranging, and then you focus on the exact spot you would with pins. I’m kind of surprised I haven’t seen any discussion of this, but anyhow, thanks for the reply.
@seansoutdoors

@@davidrussell631 Nah, not for me. I gave it away. I like putting my pin on where I want the arrow to hit plus I had a horrible experience with the owner of the product so I prefer to just stick with pins. I know people who use the EZV who have missed big game animals and who also still use a range finder, so in that regard, it still is a challenge to range an animal properly with it. I talked to a guy last year who used it on an elk hunt and "misjudged the yardage" with this thing and shot right under the bull at 40 yards. I guess that means he didn't frame it up right or something, but the point is, this sight still takes a lot of skill to use right when you get beyond a distance you are not fairly certain of. I think guys are still using range finders to help them at times.

Most of us archers aren't going to commit to a product that is going to take us months to figure out how to use. No other product requires that type of commitment. Also, I shoot at targets more than I shoot at deer so I want something that is going to be great for target.

Thanks. He actually gave me a very hard time, so I'd say he does care. We had some email exchanges and I took down other videos I made and product suggestions I made because of how he responded and me not wanting to deal with it anymore. It wasn't for me and I tried to be polite about it, but anyway. God bless.

This sight isn’t for me an I can’t see anyone who take accuracy seriously being able to shot it. It’s made for the guy who picks his bow up the weekend before season and is a “good enough” type of guy. And the owner is just a cry baby anyone who disagrees with him he will literally tell u it hurts his feelings if you won’t agree with all the bandwagon jumps in on you. It’s a damn gimmick and a joke

"I dont have the time to do that, I have a job and a family, this second video is taking time from them right now." Stands infront of many deer that have taken countless hours away from work and family. "I can't afford a 3d target and I'm not sure when I will". Buys a brand new Mathews bow and gives it away.

1. He’d just gotten a full time job when all this happened, so of course his time is limited 2. Putting food on his family’s table is a much more valuable use of time, than reviewing products all day (even for KZbin creators) 3. Just because you afforded something yesterday, doesn’t mean you can afford something tomorrow. That makes zero sense

I get it you’re busy and are short on budget to buy a 3D target to test properly.Then maybe wait until you are able to do a more comprehensive review. That is not too much to expect.

G’day Sean, I am an avid archer and I absolutely love archery, I try to practise every day with my diamond edge sb1 that’s in my profile pick, I am from australia and on these school holidays I am going hunting deer, I am so keen for it. Can’t wait for the giveaway, am a fellow Christian and I am glad to see some one talking to others about God without shoveling down their throat, but instead you give the word of god through little things like giveaways. I am so keen and love the Mathews Vertix and have always wanted to upgrade to a better bow. Best of luck to every one else and god speed to you my friend. P.s how are you going to ring the person on the live stream and if I win can you ship to Australia?

The EZ V technology is actually 140 years old but "new" to archery. The very few we get back come with directions unopened, that is such a bummer...it's not for everyone but 'most' that set it up correctly and invest a couple days shooting it may find something amazing...if it's not for you we are not insulted. We just felt 6 or so arrows did not quantify an accurate portrayal...stay tuned...see "EZ V eVolution" group on Facebook for those that have shot it a while..."different" takes a few arrows, but you might find something amazing, especially those with Target Panic

I'd suggest setting better expectations with people that you want to review your product. I felt I gave a fair introduction to the product to my viewers, which is ultimately what manufacturers are looking for by sending a product to a youtuber. It is a very cheap way to get exposure, and at least one of my viewers commented he was buying it after watching the video I made, the one you are not happy with. I think it is an unfair expectation to think I would drop everything and make this my primary sight immediately and shoot it for weeks in order to do a video on it. I simply don't have that kind of time and could have told you that if I was asked about those kinds of things upfront. I also don't know what in the video I made gives you the impression that it was an unfair representation of the product. I showed that it didn't take long at all to get it close and that it worked at unknown distances. What were you looking for, something other than that? I wasn't asked to make a commercial, I was asked to do a review, which is what I did. Ultimately, I think this is an expression of inadequately communicated expectations in advance of the review. In conclusion, I think it is a neat concept. If I get a 3D target could play around with it here and there if I can find time when I am not spending time with my kids or working, but I don't have the budget to just go out and buy a 3D target just to try out this sight further at this time. I've offered prayers for you and your business and will continue to do so over the next few days. God bless you.

Aaron, I'm a big fan of your sight and use one currently, but I have feedback for you regarding your comments in these two videos. Regardless of how you feel about the review/video, these public comments are not the way to handle it. People associate you with your product, and if you come across as defensive and insecure, it does not help you promote your company or product. If, on the other hand, you come across as confident in your product, regardless of the video's content you will help your cause. "I'm sorry you didn't have enough time to get comfortable and well-acquainted with the sight, but I'm confident that when you get around to shooting it, you will be hooked, just like 99% of our customers that don't return the sight, even though we provide an unheard of return policy. Thanks for taking the time to try it out and looking forward to seeing how it works out for you down the line." Would have been an alternative that I think would resonate with a lot of people. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Charles, very well said. When I used 2 shoot carp from a platform in a boat I had many large carp under the surface but by the time I drew my bow, anchored & was ready 2 shoot the fish would sink out of sight & I never let the arrow fly. Then I setup my recurve & started shooting these fish & getting them. The same feeling I have now with my new compound setup with my EX V sight dialed in.

Sean I hate that you feel the need to justify yourself so much on this. Any manufacture who knows your channel, whom asks you for a honest review should realize there is a risk of exactly this circumstance happening. You are a truthful man in your life style, which carries over to your channel. Obviously it's a great product. I.e. ranch fairy, diy sportsmen, ect. In archery everyone is completely different. What works great for some may not for others. It's just not your style right now. Maybe someday it will be. Does it work yes. Are you going to hunt with it this year no. Should that discourage any of your viewers from giving a shot on there own? Not necessarily for the reasons you clearly stated. Plus free returns if user doesn't like. Plain and simple enough said. You may like high let off bows I may like low let off bows, its archery 101. Not once in the 3 videos you posted did I hear you make one negative comment about this product. I personally still plan on buying one to see for myself. Anyways man I hope you don't let this whole ordeal bother you too much. I realize it's not always that easy to do so. Happy memorial day

Don’t have the time to watch the setup videos or money for a 3D target? Appears you have both. If a manufacturer sends you something I’m sure they expect you to use it more than once then give a review. I found no value in either of your videos.

You're wrong on many levels. I work two jobs and have four kids in Catholic school. I don't have much time for anything. Our money goes toward education. I don't need a 3D target so doesn't justify spending money on it. Lastly, the manufacturer didn't send this to me a friend of mine sent it to me. I tried to be polite but I actually didn't like the site at all. So the product isn't for me but I tried to be nice about it. My experience with the company was a different matter and it was a terrible experience. I wont be using one of these sights again.

One thing I have noticed about this product is that it is surrounded by a very negative vibe. If you are not praising the product then you get lots of criticism from people. @@seansoutdoors do you think it’s just this product? I watch your other reviews. Most of them are unboxing and that’s it. You hardly ever review anything you have actually used or put through its paces. Are you “one of them” that reviews stuff they haven’t really used? Just want free stuff or stuff to give away to try and build your channel. If I am researching something and your review pops up I almost never watch it. DIY or AJA know how to do a review or demonstrate how to use a product. Your videos are just plain painful.

@@jcarter2575 Lol, clearly you don't watch my bow reviews then because they take hours to do, so I don't know what you are talking about with me only doing unboxings. Regarding the products that I do do an unboxing for, if a company asks me to do a video, I tell them upfront what I am willing to do. If I don't think it is a product I am going to use, I tell them upfront, I will do an unboxing for you but that is it. So, again, you are incorrect regarding your analysis. And the easier solution for you is simply DON'T WATCH MY videos, lol. If my videos are that bad then why in the world would you even be watching them in the first place? Why would you keep putting yourself through the pain? And you didn't answer my question which is probably the answer in itself. God bless you.

Why not take the time to give a honest effort before a review. Seems like most of this vid is whining about being rushed or what a sacrifice to test the sight. Fizzle FPV It’s not a gimmick. That’s like saying peep sights are a gimmick. They are a gimmick if you are actually a good archer, you don’t need a peep sight! You also do not need a release or multiple pins!! We use them because like Shawn, we don’t have the time to be a naturally good archer. We use the technology to cheat the traditional methods of everything we do in life. When you start making shots with your bow (any type) at 20 yards without a sight at all, are you wounding more animals? NO! You are being a naturally good archer. Technology does not make you better it makes your task easier.
