I’m 70 years old; it was introduced when I was a young airman in my first year of active duty (1972). I don’t know when it officially went into service but I recall reading about it in Airman Magazine that year.

@@goldgamercommenting2990 the 787 is definitely not OK, besides running way over schedule and over budget, it's had a concerning number of safety issues crop up with relatively low hours and air miles. It hasn't punted a door but that doesn't mean it's fine.

The 737 Max, on the other hand, is a new plane, that ought to have been checked out as such, but Boeing attempted to cheap out by classifying it as a modification to an existing design. Oh, outsourcing parts (an MD thing that Boeing rarely did before the merger) means build quality is bad ergo pop-out doors.

The USAF not only needs NGAD Fighter 6 and 7th generation But the F-15EX we need hundreds more . Like at least 500. Another update on F16 And another version of the F-22 like a B or C version Quality supremacy plus quantity Tripling our numbers And release the SR-72 photo that it's in production and a orbital fighter Like X-37C Manned and Sierra Space Dream Chaser space fighter a fleet of them Armed with energy based weapons and Nukes No more Mr nice guy. The cold war never ended Chinese , Russians and N Koreans They can't match our technology
