@@simonhenry7867a lot of ICBM’s including MIRV’s were designed and built in Dnipro, using plutonium refined in Ukraine, and they’ve continued to built space vehicles and satellite launchers there over the years too, plus a few missile types. Building a stockpile of ballistic missiles now to launch mass strikes at long range might be a very good idea for targeting air bases out of range of most other munitions, especially since Russia has relocated a couple of heavy bomber squadrons away from Engels.

@stewpidaso1024 they are meant to be complementary and not adversarial. It's the high-low balance at work. And America's "low" is pretty high for the rest of the world. Some just won't admit it. But they are designed for very different roles and with very different logistics and manufacturing bases required for each. Ukraine doesn't have the manufacturing capability, or certainly not at the capacity required for a 5th generation aircraft to make sense economically. They also don't have enough nodes which can talk to a 5th generation plane in the information network for the network to benefit from the abilities of 5th and perhaps 6th gen aircraft at being combinations of being almost impossible to see by even advanced radars, a mini AWACS, a SIGINT team, and a forward command post armed with deadly and expensive missiles designed to take out strategic and operational level targets with missiles costing millions each. It's designed for a different war. Or, to put it another way, any country that has operational 5th generation aircraft will not find themselves in a war of the type Ukraine and Russia find themselves.

For the not so fighter aircraft enthusiasts and model collectors out there who can't recognise an aircraft by it's silhouette - that's a plastic model kit of an F-4 Phantom set in a replica diorama of the US Vietnam War (1965-1975). The vehicles surrounding the aircraft and their symbols and paint schemes, including on the aircraft, are also an obvious give away as they all went out of service by the early 1980s I believe, shortly after the Vietnam War. The F-4 Phantom by McDonnel Douglas was retired from service in the US in the mid 1990s. Fun fact: The F-4 Phantom was the original fighter aircraft that brought the birth of the school of Top Gun to teach US pilots how to dogfight (fighter vs fighter aircraft in close aviation combat) MIGs (Soviet made aircraft) over Vietnam at the time. The author of the publication knew the majority of the public target audience wouldn't know this, and they would be correct, unless the author didn't know it themselves.

It's not a joke - I know very well their industrial production, from cars (I have had a few Russian cars) to their electricity items, water and heating components. That's not surprising at all. Historically, the best scientists and engineers in the Soviet Union were all Ukrainian, and most of their modern industrial machines were bought from overseas, and bringing in qualified foreign help isn't an option right now. We all saw what good Russian air defense really is over Iran, and that was probably built better and to more exacting standards than most of their military gear. It'll be interesting to see what happens with all their oil depots and such this winter. Ukraine and Russia are apparently going to continue attacking each other's energy grids, and unlike Ukraine, who could both repair it and bring in outside help if needed, Russia could very quickly be painted into a corner if any part of its larger grid is taken down in the hell of a Russian winter.

Most of them are having avionics updates, before being sent to Ukraine. Probably so that they can contest the russian Su-35s. Most of them should arrive in 2025. If the war continues that build-up of F-16s could become a severe problem for the russians.

The US Air Force even intercepted a couple Iranian F-4's by sneaking up on them with F-22's. The Iranian were told to "Go Back Home". Reverse engineering and manufacture is easy to do when you already have the original equipment, along with spec's and blueprints. It only requires the technical know-how and equipment to manufacture

You are almost completely right, except the F-16 is not a stealth aircraft. It can be made harder to see with a "Have Glass" coating though, but even then it's still not a stealth aircraft. It doesn't have internal weapons bays for one thing, which is a requirement for stealth (Either that, or having either no weapons at all, or only an internal machine gun/rotary cannon), since weapons hanging out on open pylons are exposed surfaces for radar waves to go nuts bouncing off of.

@@WinVisten I was really responding to just the stealth aspect. You are correct about the other topics. The F-16 air intake alone sets off a large radar cross section, so there's little point trying. That's why stealth aircraft were a clean sheet set of planes. The Kelly Johnson didn't really care about stealth and much more about speed and altitude, but was forced to actually create what might be considered the 1st quasi stealth aircraft. But at the time the F-16 was designed, all stealth was trial and error.

What a load of crap. Iran doesn't even have modern Russian Sam's, let alone the S500 which Russia itself has not yet deployed. The SAMs that Iran has are either ancient Soviet SAMs or SAMs developed by Iran itself. In addition, Russian S-400 and even the older S-300 shot aircraft out of the sky that were 150 km+ away. We didn't see the Patriot missile do that. In addition, the F-16 is only used for air defense missions far from the front line because otherwise, they are vulnerable to Russian SAMs and the Russian AF. Claims that they shot several planes out of the sky have not been proven in any way.
