F-16’s Nuke Threat To Force Russia Modify “Combat Planning”? Kamikaze Missions Only Option For Kyiv?

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that Russia must take into account the F-16s’ ability to carry nuclear weapons “while planning” combat operations. However, Putin also assured his troops the F-16s would meet the same fate as the other weapons delivered by the West to Ukraine. Russian military aviation historian and author, Nikolai Bodrikhin, agreed with Putin’s assessment of the fate F-16s can expect. What perhaps Russia haven’t realised is that in the passed 2 years Ukraine (and the west) has monitored, measured, decrypted, every system Russia system in its armoury. All this data is invaluable to intelligence and more importantly counter measures. It makes me smile when Russia talks about its air defence capability especially its BUK, S300 and S400 systems given that these were used 20years ago to “defend” Bagdad, (the second most heavily defended city in the world), which took only a few hours to dismantle. Remember they operate lots of other Nato weapons already with success: like Himars, M270, M777, Glsdb, Jdam, hARM, even Patriot systems, you think these are easy to operate? F16 exists in huge numbers and is operated by many countries and therefore can also be maintained and repaired by many different countries. It's really not the same thing. Also the Gripen is much more complicated to fly than the F16. Training would be much longer.

Only 5 combat losses of F-16s have been reliably confirmed. Russia itself has never shot down an F-16, but their systems have take out a very small number over the years: 1991: One F-16 downed by Iraqi KUB missile system over Iraq 1991: One F-16 downed by Iraqi 125-Neva missile system over Iraq 1991: One F-16 downed by Iraqi Igla MANPAD over Iraq 1995: One F-16 downed by Serbian KUB missile system over Bosnia 1999: One F-16 downed by Serbian 125-Neva missile system over Serbia Keep in mind that US F-16 fighters flew nearly 13,500 sorties during Desert Storm. 3 losses seems pretty trivial.

On the other Russian s200 s300 s350 s400 and s500 Range 200 to 600 km. s400 can strike 35 target simutaneously in one strike. Very dangerous. Rediness for strike take only 5 minutes.
