Check out the Merch Store: growling-sidewinder.creator-spring.com Thanks for watching guys, just a little SAM practice I was doing thought I'd upload, might be interesting. Let me know your thoughts on more SEED videos in the future, of course we will make them a little more and more challenging in the future; and yes, as mentioned in the video I'm aware SAMs have shorter range IR sams like SA19s with them to cover them so please fight the urge to point this out to me, this was just a practice session trying to learn some SEED stuff.

Definitely digging the SEAD vids. It's nice to see you a little bit out of your comfort zone as well. From a "tutorial" standpoint, it's just as valuable to see you figuring things out and making mistakes as it is to hear you explain how things *should* be done - which you're very good at.
@johnhermann58822 жыл бұрын
Definitely keep doing these... I am now going to have to try SEAD with the Hornet (see other comment) and decide whether to buy the F-16 module or not... I am also really, really, *REALLY* (did I say it enough?) that Heatblur comes out with an F-4G module after they release the F-4.... The idea of using that beast with Standard ARMs gets me more excited than I probably should be... Thanks again for another great video!

This is fun to watch especially because it's something different. Would be nice to see some missions. Maybe once a month we could get some big missions involving some air to air and air to ground. Everyone can only die once. So these videos would be much longer. I don't know if that's possible or not for you or if it's simply too time consuming. Just and idea. If I had a PC I would love to help.

Interesting that the scenario is actually pretty close to standard Soviet doctrine. The first time anyone say the SA6 was after the 6 day war (terrible for the Egyptians/Syrians/Jordanians). Israel owned the skies against the SA2s. The 73 war was a bit different. The Soviets supplied the Egyptians with SA2s, SA6s and ZSU-23s. SA2s for long range mid/high altitude, SA6s for low to mid and ZSU23 gun dishes for up close and personal encounters. The SA6 and ZSU23 systems were a big surprise to the Israelis.

Watching cluster munitions do their thing is a truly awesome sight, as long as it's not aimed at you. I'll never forget the Desert Storm footage of the MLRS batteries launching full salvos and thinking, I'm sooo glad I'm not on the receiving end of that. I believe it was Stalin that said artillery is the hammer of war, same applies to cluster munitions.

In round one, you murdered that SAM site in the first degree. I remember watching The Fighter Pilot Podcast episode about SEAD and the HARM was described as a waste of a wing station. The next time you do a SEAD video, do it with Mavericks and CBUs. And once the Strike Eagle comes out, you should make some BFI videos.

@@Just_A_Random_Desk no its debated by some whether it is 4th or 5th gen because they think it has to do with when it was made. It actually has to do with the technology implemented on its jet. The real debate is like the F/A-18, cuz it has more tech than a 4th but not as much as a 5th so they call it a 4.5 generation.

in 1999. NATO vs SR. Yugoslavia (Serbia) SA-6 never use radar more then 10 sec. When they find target with radar then switch to electro-optical target tracking and manually missile management. In Desert Storm they led the strike packages with ECM aircraft like the EF-111 to jam enemy radars. Still very dangerous because they could still be jumped by enemy fighters which did happen to one EF-111. Very understandable that the USAF likes to do this sort of mission with stealth aircraft like the F-117 or the F-35, knock out the radars and air defenses first, then go after logistical and command targets with strike aircraft like F-15Es and F-16s.

My info may be out of date but I thought the SA-6 Gainful missile profile was to launch straight up and then attack from above. Which is where the name gain full comes from. That is how the F-16 shot down in Bosnia was taken out, I believe the F-117 was taken out the same way. The F-16 crews knew they were under attack when they saw the clouds at night light up as the missile went through them. To evade they looked up for the missile. At that time we had no ECM to counter the terminal guidance of the SA-6 except the mark 1 eyeball.

A real-life strategy, not sure if supported in the game... Kub (SA-6) turns on his search radar briefly, just for a couple of seconds to see the location of the plane and flight parameters and instantly turn it off. Then manually turn launchers to expected point of interception, roughly (you know the speed of the missile so calculate quickly or take a guess) and launch minimum two missiles with a slight delay. These missiles can never hit like this cos they are flying without guidance... But the plane has no idea they are in the air. Then, a couple of seconds before the expected time of impact, turn the radar on. They will pick up the signal and start homing onto the plane if everything is OK. Of course, the plane can change its flight parameters and no longer be where expected or crew can miscalculate and you miss. But since the radar was briefly on, the SEAD plane will most likely not find its exact location. Actually done during Bosnia war and downed an F-16 that way. Also done during 1999 bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO...

Bro... I am REALLY liking this mission oriented videos. It reminds me of, and the same quality as, "Ralfidude's" videos that are so few and far between at the moment. I would encourage you to do more of these and mix them in with your instructional/entertainment dogfight videos. Would you run some SEAD/DEAD mission with the Hornet? Since the F/A-18 doesn't have an HTS (iirc) I am wondering what the difference between the two would be in regards to difficulty. Thanks again for another great video!

GS on Weasel Patrol...
@kshepard5211 ай бұрын
The SEAD missions seem to depend on getting painted and attacked in order to identify gun and missile emplacements, but why don't these weasel missions use airplanes with stealth features that would allow weasels to troll with high reflectivity profiles and then switch to stealth profile once their target has been identified and they need to avoid missies and AA?
