Suddenly, your RWR goes off, and a blip appears for but a second on radar before disappearing. Your RWR does not stop. You have no idea where the missile came from, nor how close it was fired. Suddenly, your aircraft explodes. You are dead. This is what it's like to fight a Raptor. You know it's there. Somewhere. But you have little hope of finding it, let alone destroying it. If you're close enough to see it, that is only because it allowed you to get that close.

I think about the surrendering thing and having to explain to superiors... I bet in this day and age the guy jettisoning everything can be found out.. he probably would be in big trouble... the other guy took more of a risk of injury and death ( he didn't move so a cockpit kill would of been less likely) but if he was returning home it would look better for him. Secretary Gates addressed my ACSC class on his decision to shut down the F-22 production line. At the time, it was hard to defend keeping it open due to cost overruns, lack of F-22 operational performance data, and the coming of the JSF. But 16 years later, I think it’s worth considering reconstituting the line and producing more Raptors (of which we only have about 170 or so) given that we know better what the jet can do, the deficiencies of the JSF, and the potential to reduce F-22 production costs. When you have a distinctly superior platform, sometimes it’s simply better to spend the dough. Especially since our near-peer China, has the JSF blueprints and can produce cheap 5g gets.
