Imagine: you're flying your country's standard fighter jet. You know the enemy is flying stealth birds locally. You know you are getting close, but nothing on RWR or radar. Suddenly, your RWR goes off, and a blip appears for but a second on radar before disappearing. Your RWR does not stop. You have no idea where the missile came from, nor how close it was fired. Suddenly, your aircraft explodes. You are dead. This is what it's like to fight a Raptor. You know it's there. Somewhere. But you have little hope of finding it, let alone destroying it. If you're close enough to see it, that is only because it allowed you to get that close.

That guy never would have given you the same respect. He probably went back to re-arm and will come back out and try and shoot you down again. If it’s a target you take it out it’s an asset that you let your enemy continue to have. He could easily have ejected, and you take the asset away.

My suggestion for videos is 2v2 and 4v4 mission postures. I'd love to see attack/defend two islands with two forces. Each force is tasked with defending an island and another force tasked with attacking the other island.

You just gifted the enemy a perfectly functional aircraft and pilot who might kill you later.

You're a better man than I. The guy with the landing wheels down would have gotten a bullet in the wingtip. Surrendering means losing your plane. You get the chance to slow down and go to a desirable altitude for ejection. But then you either eject or you go down with your plane.

I really was hoping you were going to thow some 20mm hello pellets at the one that surrendered. He did fire 4 (6?) missiles at you, that cannot go unanswered. Great video as always!

In a real life scenario, GS would be in for violating the Geneva Convention if he shot down a surrendering jet
@TR_TenSeven
@TR_TenSeven Жыл бұрын
@@RikkiSan1 In a real life scenario, the surrendering aircraft must next and without delay land at its enemy's airfield for capture as a POW or land at a neutral third party's airfield for internmet for the duration of the conflict. An aircraft jettisoning its stores and returning to its home base is not surrender, it is an attemp at disengagement with the intent/probabilty of future hostility.

I think about the surrendering thing and having to explain to superiors... I bet in this day and age the guy jettisoning everything can be found out.. he probably would be in big trouble... the other guy took more of a risk of injury and death ( he didn't move so a cockpit kill would of been less likely) but if he was returning home it would look better for him. Unless the pilot wanted to defect... then the logic of the first pilot would be better, disarm and then fly to nearest american base. I could be totally off on all counts, but the real world implications of that act got me pondering possibilities.

Doubled edged sword. Either you kill him, or he returns to base and rearms. I know it's a game, but not sure it would happen in a real war scenario.

The pilot has intel to report about his tactic, which allowed him to delay and merge with a Raptor. Its better if the Chinesse don't get this report. Of course, if you down him, he might survive and report it anyway.

Secretary Gates addressed my ACSC class on his decision to shut down the F-22 production line. At the time, it was hard to defend keeping it open due to cost overruns, lack of F-22 operational performance data, and the coming of the JSF. But 16 years later, I think it’s worth considering reconstituting the line and producing more Raptors (of which we only have about 170 or so) given that we know better what the jet can do, the deficiencies of the JSF, and the potential to reduce F-22 production costs. When you have a distinctly superior platform, sometimes it’s simply better to spend the dough. Especially since our near-peer China, has the JSF blueprints and can produce cheap 5g gets.
