(26:35) here in the states, every two years they have a scooter cannonball run. from 100cc scooters to 300cc scooters. this coming year, it starts in seaside Oregon, which is 3445 miles from my house. the ride is an 8-day run, about 450-to-500-mile days finding check points, for each day's ride. ending in North Padre Island, Texas, which is 2660 miles, and then home, another 1436. I'm looking at an x-max 300 (297cc) with a reserve fuel tank, and soft pack saddle bags and a waterproof tote, for the camera gear & equipment.

the petrol in the manual pumps is absolutely fine for a scooter. Just about every village in Thailand has these & usually a repair shop 95 is usually gasohol with 10% ethanol in it Police stops they check helmet, licence road tax (Porobor comes with 3rd party insurance) & maybe rental agreement as substitute for the bike book (registration) (tabien rot) i absolutely dont want to nag & preach but try not to ride in the dark. Of 23 years in Thailand i have seen loads of horror accidents including personal family tragedy ps the bed issue - until say the last 20-30 years and even now many villagers sleep in a mat on the ground in the house, this kind of explains why the matresses in many cheaper hotels are hard TV & remotes, protection from moisture due to the humidity

.... Did the trip from Bangkok to Chaing Mai end of 22 on a scooter with 164,000k on it. Took it easy and stayed away from major roads. Worked out fine and loved it. Don't push too hard and those scoots will get you there and on north to Chiang Rai.

Another great video , one of my favorites so far, showing travelling on a budget warts and all , you both make me laugh ,in a good way😁, my heart jumped a bit when you were pulling out onto that road!! I think so many people especially from the uk can relate to your reactions to a different environement. I have an enfield 650 but seeing what you are doing on those scooters is giving a great insight regarding what is possible on smaller machines . Take it easy 👍

The 95 in the barrel is just fine. I buy "petrol" like that all the time. She was saying that 95 is red colored and 91 is green colored. Not a gator, it's a water monitor lizard. Tip: with no oncoming traffic, ride near the center of the road, it gives more time to react to something, like the lizard, coming out onto the road from the left. Watching your Thailand videos, it appears you didn't do enough research about the country before visiting. Thanks for the videos and safe travels. Tip 2: you can always put the scooters on a train to get back to Bangkok if you're tired of riding.

Nice video loving this journey as always with your trips. I bought a scooter a few years ago and love it. Now it’s not a 125, it’s a BMW C400GT, not my main bike but great run around and more does it all. Motorcycle width tyres, braided steel brake lines calliper mounted brakes heated seats grips ABS/traction control etc great two up sits 70+ on the motorway very easy. Thing is after biking for 40+ years had never ever sat in a scooter and would never have given one a second look but think now I wish I’d done it earlier.

Guys the barrel was probably pure petrol not E5/E10 its what the Thais call benzine. The E5/E10 is known as Gasohol, and as one previous OP stated, the hard shoulder is actually a motorcycle lane.

Get yourself some black Sugru to stick on the helmet camera mount, it's mouldable glue (texture initially a bit like blue tack) which you can shape to fill the gaps between the mount & the helmet which then sets. It's brilliant stuff. I've used it many times to mount things to the helmet & it's never failed. It's also not bad to remove if need be.

The road lane to your left, between the solid white line and the verge, is meant to be for scooters. Selective use, when it’s available, may help you keep a little safer on the faster and busier roads, although be careful of puddles, parked vehicles, wrong way traffic, and vehicles pulling out from side turns without looking. This is Thailand! PTT fuel stations usually have a 7/11, an Amazon coffee shop and often a food court area where good cooked Thai food is available for low prices. Great adventures!

I use Kintsuglue by Loctite. It's an epoxy putty. It comes in small (chewing gum sized) packets and feels like plasticine. I think it starts to cure as soon as you take it out of the packet. Takes about 24 hours to cure completely, but seems pretty much solid after a few hours and solid after12 hours. On the plus side, it sticks well and is never coming off. On the negative side, it is never coming off. I roughed up the helmet and the mount with a bit of sandpaper first.

I’ve been watching this series on your tour and have enjoyed it. What I can’t figure out is why you two want to suffer so much with the transportation. It seems to me the thing to do would be to rent a couple of capable bikes from the start and turn them back in when your done. You might have already mentioned why you are doing tour the way you are. I wish you the best luck.

You need eyes at the front, back and sides when driving in those cities 😮 What an adventure and what a relief to get to a hotel, food and clingfilmed tv, perfect! If you see any snake fruit, give it a try, it’s crunchy and tastes a bit like banana/pineapple, I loved it but you can’t get it anywhere in the UK.

That looks like massive fun, a bit of dodgy (lack of) scooter maintenance thrown in. Adds to the excitement. I started out on a cub 50 waaay back in '90s. Had a 125cc on the motorway, fun or terrifying, not sure which it was.

I timed my Pcx riding out of Chiang Mai, last Monday. I covered 120 kms in about 3 and a half hours but that was with an extended coffee break. By the way i got my license through the Honda Safety School and they called people riding on the wrong side of the road, Ghost Riding. That is LETHAL. (Spelling)

Yes, of course an entire off-road trip on scooters hahahaha. You guys....pushing these poor things to their limit... Ah well, they'll get you there... And when you go for some repairs on that little Honda scooter, you may just as well get some new shocks in there. I mean in an situation of emergency in which you will have to make a sudden stop on dribbling wheels....forget about it, you will not be able to stop as soon as you would want to. So shocks are part of the safety upgrade this Honda is due too, I'd say
