Beautiful !! Whenever I put a new handle on a blade (and that is not often) I use Hammerite on the tang. This paint is tough but need about 2 weeks to harden. The big pro for me is that even if water gets between the handle and tang it will never rust.

Very nice 👍 . Just wondering if it was possible to save the original lanyard hole and align it with a hole in the new hidden tang handle? It wouldn’t probably make a lot of difference but would feel more structurally integrated.
@thetopicala4 жыл бұрын
Hey Ivan, just had a quick glimpse for your idea. Did you notice that the original lanyard hole was situated at 9cm distance from the front bolster and the new appr 11cm. The looks of the handle (due to new shape) would had been propably much different due to different position of the l-hole. What do you think? Thanks, Osmo

@thetopicala5 жыл бұрын
Grant Cook Hi, thanks! With the knife work and a sheath peopably 8-10 hours during one week. The costs? The cost of a original knife and the rest comes from the handle block, leather and things like epoxy, sanding materials etc small things. Wood block and original knife are the main things of course.

Now I see why the fingerguard comes loose sometimes on F1 Pro, it's not an exact fit. They need wedges to make the fitting tighter. Put it under too much stress and it comes loose. The DutchBushcraftKnives guys had this problem also and had to send it back to Fallkniven.

Far more practical in original form. No finger guard No grip Wet holding sheath Discolouring brass Restricted wood handle so no traveling abroad without certification Each to their own and the workman ship looks ok but big step back IMHO. A knife especially like this should be a celebrated tool unfortunately you just managed with great effort to end up with less of a tool than you began with; at some considerable expense. But again the workmanship looks nice.
@thetopicala5 жыл бұрын
Guide504 Thank you for your comment. Well, anyone can make their own desicion how his knife should be. We are all free to make our own analyses about different kind of tools. I may disaggree with yours but I’m happy you have put some good effort on it. 👍🏻 thanks, Osmo

@thetopicala5 жыл бұрын
Guide504 no probs G! I was just about to ask about how would you say about tradiotional oval shaped Finnish puukko knife 😅? Well, we usually use the knife with barehands even at winter time and better grip. With mittens it would be disaster 😂
@Guide5045 жыл бұрын
I have made a couple of knives on custom M Streyfors blades as presentation pieces, but mostly I make or buy working tools. the guard on the pro series is an after thought in terms of it's fixing but it is good to have something there if allowed. I spent some time in the russian arctic and they do not allow finger guards so it was usefull to have the old A1 A2 F1 with rubberised handles that didn't show up on the airport scanners. also took the big tiger shark SOG for other things.
@thetopicala5 жыл бұрын
Guide504 Per se in Finland we don’t think the finger guard at all with traditionally made puukko knifes at all. That’s why it’s so disturbing and almost shocking to meet resistance against finger guard free knife tool. 😁
