Skyway length time from what I’ve seen is based on DISTANCE from 1st not placement

14:00 I knew it! I got tired of getting passed from behind by Blue Falcon's when I'm stingray and I hit the dash pad first at the pre-race area and I was always so confused as to how it was they passed me if it was not for some sort of built in faster higher top speed boost mechanism.

I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone involved in that hasn’t played much. They might see the meters have the best average placement on it but won’t see how tough it is to win with it

IMO Fire Stingray today is still in a stronger position than Blue Falcon pre-patch. Not that I ever thought the Blue Falcon was ever too bad.

i feel like your testing approach would be great to finally solve how exactly do back bumps work, how many pixels forward they bring us, what penalties are involved when we back bump someone else, and how many back bumps would equal a boost. some side collisions might also count as back bumps too. i have been trying to use the mini map to answer this question myself but it is quite cumbersome

Yes, stingray now is not great. But I have used it for so long that it would be very difficult to learn a new play style

I recently discovered that the FS is not the only way to measure distance. On the proximity view Map, the lighter and darker lines represent 100 meters (for you americans, that's 1/10th of a kilometer). The little green indicators on the side of the track measure in increments of 1km. Your proximity view map shows about 1 kilometer in front of and behind you. A little fact you did not know.

@@Waterstone33 Interesting! I did not know this. The science nerd in me went right for the "calculate using a constant speed" approach and didn't really consider anything else 😂

@@heyniles Oh yeah, the FS grip increases at the top speed too. Also I think FS is 483 for a brief moment on the ramp

@@heyniles it's super satisfying to be going wide on a corner, avoiding the pack, then you just blast turn the sharpest line and pass like 4-5 non stingrays like "See ya suckers!" Then they boost past you, but still it feels great for the moment 🥲

Can you redo the super boost section using spinners on any mirror track during practice mode? I want more accurate data retaining to this, including length of skyway, how many sparks, etc.

I was considering adding in some stuff and updating for the 1.4 changes - no gameplay balances were done, but there were some features added. I can look into doing this with the new version.

Perhaps I'm a little too insistent with doing some drifts. That's why I use the Golden Fox most often, though I recently learned that the Wild Goose can also drift.

Technically I was playing on the 1.4 update, but in one Grand Prix i managed to make it all the way to the victory podium, with the Blue Falcon, I'm not even that good at the game typically. 😂

When passing a jump pad, each ship should reach its maximum speed. It doesn't make sense for all ships to exceed their maximum speed except the Fire Stingray. Also, since the Fire Stingray has the worst turbo stats, they should at least make it maintain speed better with crashes. A simple crash with a blue bumper has ruined countless Grand Prixes for me.

I'm sorry, but what in the hell are you talking about at 1:31 for data mining? If you can extract the raw data straight from the game's code, it is the most accurate data you can possibly have about a game, and using such data doesn't invalidate practical testing, it enhances it. I dunno where you pulled "intended values" or that the game will "inactivate" such values from, but that is entirely hogwash. You sound like you're pulling words out of your ass that sound like they mean something, but actually don't in an attempt to justify not using the real game data. If you don't want to use the real values the game uses, just say so and own it. Don't give us this wishy-washy BS. If you actually DO have the game data, I would appreciate if you could post it in the video description so myself and others can look up the game data ourselves if we so choose. You removed the previous version of this video, so that pinned comment with all the F-Zero data on it is now lost.

As I described, the patch notes don't match the results. I'm not a programmer, so I don't know exactly how all of the damage values get translated to the actual results during gameplay.... but the results of my testing show that not everything plays out exactly as the mined data says it will. I'm not sure what it is you have against measurable objective evidence, but it is what it is. I feel I was quite clear with my reasoning, and not wishy-washy at all. If you didn't understand my reasoning there, I'm sorry I didn't explain it well enough for you. Your point about the pinned comment makes no sense - those values were applicable for the pre-update version of the game and I'm not going to knowingly present inaccurate data in my videos. I appreciate your feedback! Let me know if you manage to get any meaningful data not presented in this video and I can update the description; or if you're just interested in commenting about data but not providing any, that's cool too. 👍
